rumors have it that the final season of walking dead will be canned as well... which f*cking blows because I already paid for it. such a sh*tty way to treat your fans.. release a trailer a few days ago only to follow it up with "hey sorry guys, we're closing but thanks for your money".

I don't see how they would can it seeing that episode 2 of the final season is due for release in a few days. According to the reports only 25 staff members remain so they can finish it off which has me somewhat concerned that it might be a rush job (The short time between episodes has me worried).

 

Either way not good at all. Telltale have become one of my favourite developers in recent years. I don't really play anything else by them besides The Walking Dead, but have tried Tales From the Borderlands, Back To The Future etc and enjoyed them.

This is very sad, one of the best developers out there. And I feel that the game will be canned, I honestly can't see how 25 people can manage to finish the game.

tbh the way they made their games only really kinda catered to gamers that were in the DOS and point and click adventure times

and the demand was kinda low because

why play a game thats like a book/comic when you could read it

Ubisoft SF is looking to hire the Telltale Games developers. Since Ubisoft seems to be heading in a RPG direction, this is good news for those devs and Ubisoft in my opinion.

can't believe there won't be an ending to TWD or TWAU 2.

 

sad things had to end this way. Telltale really pushed narrative-driven games to their peak, and then started to decline, with gamers still having hope for them to improve writing. Now they don't even have that chance to.

I don't really mind they are closing down, they only produced ugly crap with horrible controls, split up into episodes.

 

I gave the Walking Dead game and the Game of Thrones game a chance, and was totally dissapointed. I couldn't even invert the y axis on my controller, unplayable like this, well if i remember it right, that's why all the games from them were a no-go for me.

 

Not gonna miss them.  

 

I miss the Westwood studios much more just an example, really really miss the Command & Conquer games. Really sucked EA Games bought them, totally ruined the C&C games.

I love Telltale.  The possibilities were endless.  Tales from the Borderlands was such a well executed idea of taking a game franchise and turning it towards a weird direction from its core and turning it into a true story game.

I've read that they are using that "skeleton" crew to finish up their minecraft story port to Netflix. apparently they signed a deal with netflix in which they are obligated to finish that project. 

 

 

I contacted XBox and got my refund for the final season... if they do decide to finish it then i'll repurchase it whenever it's complete.

The number of people working on such low-effort games is beyond my comprehension. I guess they had a few series running, but geez. 250 people?

 

I mean their downfall was clearly wasting so much resources while not improving and branching out to series that already had big games (with actual gameplay) made them lose money. I am not sure how Borderlands did, but I doubt it was very profitable for them, same for Batman.

 

Anyway I am fine with them shutitng down, they gave us some good games that were fun to play once. But doing the exact same thing over and over again really takes away the appeal.

According to reports, only TWD season 1 made them money. Everything else tanked, particularly Batman. What's even more crazy is that they were still hiring as of last week.

 

This is gonna be one of those stories indie studios are gonna be learning from for years to come I bet.
