hi all, 

i just read, that there will be realistic body damage like flying limbs, when i.e. a shotgun is used. 

 

gore is always nice to have, but its not common for rockstar since gta3.

 

what do you think?

Another reviews said that Seems like Max Payne 3 gore but improved.

I like that feature but i wonder if it will be implemented into online as well. It makes the game a lot more realistic and the only real gore the first Red Dead had were when you shot small animals and they burst into that blood cloud thing

I remember a lot more than that. Here's one example.

I'm hoping the head wounds aren't as exaggerated this time round, and actually vary from weapon-to-weapon.

That's great to know. It is a minor gripe tbh, I enjoyed the gore in RDR (as grim as that sounds) but after playing Max Payne 3 I am looking forward to something similar.

In this YT video the guy talks about unloading a revolver into someone's head and afterwards only 1/3rd of his head was remaining.  That's much more gore/deformation than Max Payne 3 had.

As great as it sounds this has me worried considering Australia is such a nanny state that we could very likely getting a censored version. It would not surprise me at all if the old dinosaurs here got their knickers in a knot over dismemberment.

From what I recall, it was Mortal Kombat 9 that really angered Aussie censors to the point where they had no choice but to introduce an R18 rating. Hopefully they won't pussy out.

 

Otherwise, this is great news. I imagine shotgun blasts to the head will leave a nasty sight.

Witcher 3 had dismemberment all over the place, and it wasn’t censored in Australia.  It’ll be fine.

Yeah true that. MK is violent as hell. Far more than i imagine RDR 2 will be.

Apparently you can blow off limbs of the person you're killing. Might be Fallout type dismemberment.

Anyone ever play Solder of Fortune 2?

The dismemberment in that was epic and way ahead of its time. 

 

Almost forgot about Kingpin: life of crime. 

Brutal lol. 

 

As mentioned above  Fallout was pretty sweet and Witcher 3 had great gibs. 

 

Rdr2 will be ridiculously good

I'm up for realistic levels of gore, since this is a game that prides itself on realism and authenticity.  "Deformation" of the face and body with bruises and scars will make bare knuckle boxing as brutal as it should be.  Shotguns seem to act like shotguns for the first time ever.  Even skinning a pelt is unflinchingly real.  

 

But I DON'T want over the top gratuitous gore.  If it goes to Fallout levels of splatter, where a random "critical hit" can make a .22 rifle disembowel some poor schmuck for an exit wound that should otherwise be no more noticeable than a mole on somebody's skin, count me out.  I'm not squeamish at all; I just want a realistic game to have that realism evenly distributed.

I don't think the gore will reach silly levels, judging from the gameplay trailer it didn't look like it for sure. I have to admit I find over the top levels of gore to be quite amusing, but it shouldn't go too far. 

 

RDR is a serious series, and it would feel out of place if it reaches Fallout levels of gore for example.

So there is finally someone who played that game? I thought I was the only one. 

 

SOF2 was one of the first FPS games I have played on PC, and I still remember every mission and almost every detail. Mission generator was great addition later on. But real treat was the effect gunshots had on human body. So good for 2002, and better than almost any other game after that, even today. There was so many different ways to kill and wound  someone,  from gut shots, kneecaps,  fists, neck, eyes, head, everything had different effect.  I spent hours and hours trying to complete the game because it was before YouTube and streamers so if you get stuck,  you are stucked until you find your own way to geat the game. So many good memories playing SOF2 with my brother, I will never forget that game. Long live, John Mullins, one of the few "real" guys to feature in a video game.

I even played SoF1, which was ridicolus realistic and brutal. Part2 had a perfect gore system, which isnt reached until today. part 3 was totally crap

I hope that there's a cheat for exaggerated gore. Like normally, weapons have realistic damage, only shotguns or other high powered guns deal serious damage... but once you turn on the cheat revolvers and pistols detach parts with each shot.

R* is no stranger to gore. Look at GTA 3 or the Manhunt games. Hell, if we're talking about realistic HD gore then look no further than Max Payne 3 or RDR. I'm sure the violence will be done just fine in RDR2.
