This goes way into future discussion of GTA Online but I kind of doubt it'll just be *shut down* as soon as GTA VI and its Online counterpart releases. I'm assuming it'll still have a few years in it because not everyone will instantly migrate to GTA VI and many people will be going back to the classics. If even multiplayer modes in GTA IV, Max Payne 3, etc. were up for a few years still, I don't see a reason for GTAO to just go poof.

All prices would seriously be inflated as f*ck, like already mentioned, there are legit players that already have bank accounts with a billion dollars on it. It would be nonsense letting them carry it over. I mean what is the challenge then, if you can just buy really everything right at the start of your GTA VI Online career. It will not be possible to carry over the progress, because Take2 wants shark card money.

Yeah they won't shut it down, i can't imagine they do that. I mean ppl can still play GTA IV multiplayer.

For all the flaws of P2P, it does have one advantage, not having to maintain dedicated servers to run sessions, which allows them to keep older games up longer.

Could be one reason for the forced deletion of old gen data when you transfer to E&E, might have been future proofing the next online, so they aren't trying to maintain three data saves for everyone, allowing them to keep this GTAO up far into the future.

As someone said a while ago I feel like being able to keep our stuff would make everything a mess. Imagine new GTA VI players (most likely most people) starting out with nothing but old GTA Online players starting out with bajillions of dollars, vehicles, weapons, unlocked stuff etc. :p

The amount of bullsh*t R* would create for them selves by allowing full progress and asset transfers from GTAO to GTAO2 would be mind boggling. Imagine everyone starting GTAO day 1 with tens or hundreds of millions in cash straight away, it'd make whole key parts of the game completely pointless, and that's with a barebones GTAO1 experience and not what I imagine will be a much deeper GTAO2 day 1 experience.

Other games have tried similar things and ultimately they never ended up doing it. First and foremost it destroys the games balancing, economy and progression day 1 and secondly, and honestly most importantly, it is no where near as fun as you think it might be.

People need to stop being wolly's that are scared of clean slates, every other game does it fine.

I very much doubt they'll let us port over progress to GTAO2 especially if it's in a totally different setting.

I feel like I've played GTAO enough, yeah, and GTAO2 should be a whole new thing.

Maybe just let me slide in with 100m or so, ease things.

I'm fully down with GTA6's online being a completely fresh start. I don't want to see any of these PS3 quality assets carried over into a PS5 game. I'm sure R* will give starting bonuses to long time players. Actually it would be cool if before GTA6 comes out R* releases a checklist of things to do in GTAO (do each heist once, own every business, win 10 races, etc), and for each one you do you get cash and other bonuses when you start your new character.

If they're going to make us start over, they need to reset the prices for everything they're bringing over to reasonable levels.

Maybe carry over 10% of the current money we have would be fair. Ppl that have a billion get 100 million, ppl with 100 million get 10 etc. but honestly a fresh start would be better.

Being able to transfer any assets or money over f*cks the game completely day 1. It cannot and should not be done, period. Fresh start is best for everyone, and way more fun.

At most I expect them to give GTAO1 players a "I ❤️ Los Santos" t-shirt or something like that, but nothing like vehicles, houses, money or whatever.

Give me a plaque or trophy I can place in properties that lists how many days I wasted in GTAO and I'd be happy. I look forward to starting from scratch again.

Do you think GTAO 2 will be launched together with GTA VI next year? It could be separate title though

There'll probably be a period where only the Story Mode is available much like GTA V and RDR2.

That is a good thing, this way players learn the map and how the game works in general, what's new etc. before going into Online mode.

I want to keep my exclusive cloths. Worked too hard for them to be left behind :wtfmichael: Losing all of my cash would be understandable though. Cars too.

Maybe we get a call from Lester saying our bank accounts were hacked, or the feds took all of our money. Something like that..

I can get keeping them as trophies, but I imagine GTAO2 clothing will be quite a leap in terms of quality.

Thinking RDR2/RDO in terms of being able to roll up sleeves, layer stuff, proper cloth physics for jackets and stuff. GTAO1 clothing will probably look garbage if worn in GTAO2 I think.

I'd be happy if color shades actually matched. That and proper dresses, not the prom choices we have now.

They could import LS map and if you want to use your cars you can only do that in LS and not in the new map. And then, in the future, R* would launch a overpriced paywall that would let "Jony on the spot" deliver your vehicles there. It's quite f*cked up thinking that R* will just scratch 600ish vehicles that they release so far in gta online 1. Idk...someone didnt said that some cars have such details that looks like "GTA VI quality"? It's hard to believe they would release other and new 600ish cars during GTA VI life span...sure, there's a lot of other cars they could release, there's no lack of source materiak. But i doubt that they will scratch the 600ish they released already in gta online 1, since people say that gta online will become a "gta world" franchise, where what used to have gta online 1 there will be in 2, like Ls, contacts, vehicles...and even if they re-release those cars in GTA VI, i think theynknow thay people wouldn' be as excited as if they were brand new cars never seen in gta online before.

Probably not. They know that usually ppl get the game to just go directly to online. They will want to players enjoy their SP content that toke hard work to do. If not by freedom of choice, then by "force". Thus, no Online at least for 6 months. :kekw:

Couldn't they import to gta online 2, then upscale the clothing textures?

This is old news, but the Heavy Shotgun needs to be buffed across the board IMO. It shoots slugs FFS, at least heavily buff it against NPCs.. increase both range and damage threefold. 2 hit kill at center mass. Even if they monetized this by making an Mk.II to implement the buff, modernize the model and add better SFX, I'd pay a million for it fully upgraded and kitted out.

Getting the Heavy Rifle gives me hope for more cut weapons, here's hoping they use them for E&E bait at least. Though I would prefer them to be available on 8th gen as well as I've kept my main account on PS4 for now until I see how 9th gen changes pan out (who knows what they'll mess with experimenting with different stuff).

Upscaling the textures won't mean they look as good as made for GTAO2 textures, upscaling isn't some magic fix in that regard.

Plus it doesn't solve the many other problems, such as the clothing mesh, the physics, being able to layer it with new clothing etc.

Basically, it's another example of Rockstar creating a whole new world of bullsh*t for them selves, when they can just instead start from scratch and have GTAO2 be a new start for everyone.

Slug shotguns are a pain to balance, if the damage gets too high it becomes a high rate of fire revolver, if the range is too low it becomes straight up worse than any other shotgun. It requires too much fine tuning which rockstar is not capable of.

I don't care about money transferring over, but cars would be nice, even if it cost money. I have too many cars that I'll never be able to recreate everything. VI story mode may potentially be set over a span of decades, but you better believe the online mode will be current day, they will not miss out on adding the latest vehicles, that's been the bread and butter of their profits over the years with current GTAO.

Pretty much what i defend. Imagine them making gen Z using a freaking pager and not a cellphone in gta online. Hell...even millenials like me. :kekw:

F that. Imagine gtao 2 being locked in the 80's what would be the best car you could get? A ferrari testarrossa?
