Much like VIP work and such too, it's fully optional to go invite only and co-op these bits.

I'll happily knock the way businesses are set up for public only and how poorly balanced things are, but anything that let's us play them how we want is all good here.

Very true. There seems to be a pervading culture of trying to bash anybody who engages in PvP in this game. There are some fair arguments, like the general thoughts on malicious destruction of business deliveries for very little reward, or the destruction of Import / Export vehicles (try to steal them for pity's sake, at least that is in keeping somewhat)

But complaints about being attacked during a Business Battle, of all things, is a really odd argument to me. There is no investment to lose (only time) and the game sets its stall out immediately as to what it is and what you have to do. It's a battle. The idea is to fight other players over the crates. It isn't reasonable to expect that other players in freemode must treat this game as a co-operative venture when it starts. It's PvP. Every man (or crew) for themselves.

Never AFKed, all this money is "passive" from playing the game, and the only reason I have an obscene amount of missions done, is because I needed max popularity for MacBeths, so I could grind my Alien tattoos.

Have you time traveled from 2018? Go back bro, it's awful here

Seems you can get raided while you're AFK inside a property now. I left myself AFK watching the cameras in my bunker overnight expecting to have a full nightclub warehouse to sell this morning. Turned the TV on and came off the cameras & got a little message at the top "cops have raided your nightclub and seized the goods". Thought it a bit odd as you didn't used to get notifications before until you exited the building/bunker so you could 'defend' your stock but desktoped aanyway and re-started. When I loaded back in I went to my nightclub to find it had zero stock.

So if you're AFK & get raided you don't get the chance to go and rescue anything either now & lose the lot.

Going to combine these here with my own B*tch & Moan

The only problem with PvP Business Battles, VIP work and the like, is that the twat-bike is the "best" vehicle for all of it. No matter what activity you do, you have to compete with them.

Few other vehicles can compete with the speed, agility, firepower and accessability of it.

Helicopters requires lenghty take-offs, has relatively strict spawning (with a few exceptions) and won't win in a firefight against the Oppressors.

Cars (namely Stromberg and similar) are too restricted in movement to reliable chase and fight Oppressors.

Jets has the speed and firepower, but has very strict spawnzones, lenghty take-off and reliable hitting Oppressors while dodging their missiles in next to impossible.

Jetpack has the accessability, but is too slow and has poor firepower. There used to be a bug where it were invulnerable to missiles hitting it from behind while moving forward, but that seems to have been fixed.

All of this means the moment an Oppressor user gets his paws on the objective/cargo, it's already over. You can't chase them, and if you can, you can't fight them.

You're supposed to battle for the crates against NPCs and other players, not camp the location and stop anyone collecting them without making any attempt to collect/deliver them yourself. Like everything else in freeroam, it only ever goes one way.

Exactly.

Take the recycling yard for example. Some dimwit on an MK2 will just camp out on the overpass and fire rockets at the door so the player cannot unlock it. You can’t get out to deliver any crates and they have enough explosives to make you say f*ck it and leave the session.

Want to battle for crates? Cool, let’s battle. Want to be an asshole and pad your K/D? Go f*ck yourself.

Not necesarily, I have plenty of success waiting just outside the area in my Akula and when a broomstick twat takes off towards their nightclub, blow them out of the sky. Then pop back into stealth mode, swoop down and pick up the cargo and take it for myself - all very satisfying.

Were you registered as CEO or MC president while AFK? As far as I know, that is still a requirement for a raid to start.

You might not have gotten the notifications because you were watching cameras in the bunker.

You will only get kicked out if you are inside the property that is being raided, not another one.

Aaah I think I was registered as a CEO yes, that may explain it. However I always thought the raid wasn't "activated" until you leave the bunker?
...it's been a good year or so since the last time I did an "AFK" run so this is prob my memory at fault after all. 😬

Rockstar may have changed that part. There was a glitch with bunker sales recently that teleported people to random apartments or garages.

They are always breaking the game. I have been trying for months to trigger a bunker raid (want to try the merryweather stealth raid with the Valkyrie), and I'm beginning to believe they are disabled.

If something like that happens, I am happy to kill myself inside and go out and deal with them (I always hide my own MK2 in the bushes outside) It's pretty easy to get rid of those guys. But, you know, griefers gonna grief, no matter what you are doing. I've done my own camping in the Steelworks or Scrap Yard building on occasion. Most of the time though I like a bit of competitive play for the crates. The guy I quoted seems to take issue with the multi-crate Business Battles being fought over, period. I think he stated previously that he reports players who show up to fight over or steal crates, which I don't personally understand.

I am with you, Molio. They're business battles. If you want free, uncontested stuff, go run a business or heist preps in a solo session. I do dislike the griefers though, just as much as I dislike the ones who do things like camp outside a King of the Hill and just slaughter people trying to play properly. Rockstar has done a very indifferent job of protecting these free roam activities against griefing. But that doesn't make the fundamental nature of them unsound, it just means that they needed to do a little extra work to clean them up, and didn't. It ought to be possible to separate real participants from scumbags who are just kill-farming, and either protect the real participants or punish the griefers, or both.

Ironically, they did a far better job of this on some of the activities that people do less. In Headhunter, if multiple players get in the area of a target, they can no longer kill each other--only the org running the job. You don't see this much because people rarely defend the targets at all, but it was a good idea and seems to basically work. Also in the free roam event where you have to stay inside the moving circle (I think they retired that one), once in the event you are passive to the rest of the lobby. And same with time trials, come to think of it. The inconsistency is a little frustrating. Maybe it would work better if basically all free roam events had opt-in checks (similar to the beginning of Hunt the Beast), and once you were in, you have to actually participate or you quickly get booted out.

Agree 100% and would never report a player for killing me during one of these challenges. Not even the campers because many of them are just so bad at close combat that they would rather other players give up so they can get the crates without being killed.

One person mentioned the lazy players that let someone else do all the hard work, kill all the targets around the map for example. Once that is done they swoop in on the douche bike to grab the crates while you are on the other side of the map in a Buzzard. Annoying as hell but still a valid tactic that really shouldn’t be reported.

Honestly no deaths are report worthy unless the killer is a god mode pussy. Everything else, like or not, is fair game and in many ways designed and encouraged by the developer themselves. After 8 years most of us should be more than used to it and know exactly when and how it’s going to happen

Agreed. It's a valid tactic--made possible by poor game design, but valid nonetheless.

The only non-cheating deaths I think are report-worthy are griefers that just won't leave other specific players alone. If I see a high level guy kill the same low level, who clearly either isn't fighting back or has no chance at all, dozens of times in a row--that guy I am happy to report. Although more often I will swoop in and give them a real fight instead. Either way, I don't feel like they are violating the rules of the game, but they are violating its spirit. And more to the point, just making the whole GTA experience sh*ttier than it needs to be.

Yesterday I was doing that UFO battle where you collect the UFO pieces from the hangar in Fort Z which has slightly ajar doors & you only get to participate if you interact with the randomly appearing UFO. However I found myself trapped in the hangar when some total bellend in a jet (presumably having the Fort Z hangar so no wanted level) just camped outside the hangar doors constantly firing his explosive rounds into the little gap preventing me from getting out. Sods law I was the only person participating so there was absolutely nothing I could do but teleport back to my facility to escape the prick.

No when that happens your only recourse is to call in backup. Or get a lucky shot through the gap in the doors. But then you are in "1v1 at the beach" type of territory.

Yep, it tends to happen when you request your PV at the docks. It will spawn in that location. Because Dumbstar.

This is where having unlocked the explosive sniper comes in very, very handy. Another good way to go, whether you have that sniper or not, is to go off-radar and immediately kill yourself. You'll respawn somewhere outside and he'll either fly away, or foolishly hang around and let you get a few free shots at taking him out.

I have near-infinite experience by now with killing jet griefers. The only ones who ever give me trouble anymore are the ones using the thermal vision trick, and who have me pinned down somewhere that makes me an easy target (like the beach). In those instances, I will indeed teleport away if I have to.

tried to get one spawn in a public lobby with players, worked immediately.

Just make sure you are at least 16 mins in the session

I often do the same. Rather than report them, I become a kind of self-appointed GTAO Batman in an Impotent Rage mask and go dish out some vigilante justice to those fools. 😆

It's like, if I get into a session where there are a couple of jets tearing the lobby up, I am compelled to try and shoot them down with the explosive sniper.

Yes, and yes. I'm in I/O lobbies and I've been in them well over 16 minutes (gotta wait until I can get more UFO snapshots

And I make sure to export an EE car that shows up because that's another event that can appear.

I guess eventualyl I might run into one.

After playing a few PS5 games with 60FPS and coming back to GTAO, damn the game is really so choppy. Think I got used to the terrible frames since 2014 (back then graphics were great for the time), surprised we don't have a free performance patch for PS5 already! Wait I remember - because profit 😓

That is what I always hated about the ship carrier out at sea with weapons business battle. NO ONE ever goes out there. Sometimes I put the work in, I go out there. Kill the guards. Shut off the air defenses and then every single time the ENTIRE damn session takes notice and are like :
