I mean, are you really surprised that it's the latter? To anyone who remembers the batsh*t insanity of the NillxModz days back in 2014 - 2015 where a guy literally just made up some predictions that he tried to pass for leaks and stringed a massive portion of this forum along for months, to the point where he literally developed his own cult following and was actively getting fan donations while not a single one of his claims was ever proven true, this is really nothing out of the ordinary. You can pretty much make up anything in this thread even as an obvious joke and there will be at least ten pages discussing it as if it's legitimate.

Yeah, and the way the do things sucks IMO. Based on the wording of the initial newswire the DLC could release in mid August for all we know.

People talk about quality of life changes and I'm over here thinking "when will they ever do something about the police / wanted level system and ridiculous AI firearms accuracy" - because both haven't been touched in a positive way since the game came out... it seems.

Police spawning system is pathetic and wrong... They'll be created in the game world way too close to the player meaning it can be impossible to take a turn down the next alleyway or street before the cop that's just been spawned sees you.
Cones of vision are pointless... When you've played the game for years, you realise how silly it is to be wanted, but not in sight of the cops, only to have a cop car further up the road come to a halt because they're doing one thing - waiting for you to catch up to them. And if you decide to turn way before reaching them, you're usually fine, but turning nearer to them (even when you're still outside their cone of vision) and all of a sudden you're "in sight of cops". That can even happen when they're driving the same way as you - so they must be real talented to 1) drive, 2) look where they're going and where you're coming from and 3) correctly identify the suspect as being the one they're after, all at the same time.
Remarkable. GTA IV's "Wanted Level circle" was much better than the nonsense we have in V.

If you do the "Longfin" approach vehicle mission for the Cayo Perico heist, you can see how "turned up to 10" the police spawning is there. It's almost as if Rockstar disabled the police helicopter chasing you on this mission on purpose, because then it could be next-to-impossible to lose the cops unless you take your big rig + trailer + boat into a train tunnel or something. (So why do they mess with things rather than just leave them alone... and does this feed the idea of artificially creating difficulty just to lengthen mission time?)

The next one is the NPC / AI accuracy and general behaviour when it comes to firearms and usage. What I'd love to see is hobos / hillbilly's / low-end gang members have a low fire rate, low accuracy and little-to-no ability to use cover.
The step up from there, eg the higher end gang members or generally low-rate enemies could have slightly improved traits, with 3 star police, Merryweather and Military having the greatest abilities.
The idea that NPCs have a 12% accuracy value or whatever literally cannot be true - that would surely mean out of 100 bullets fired, 12 of them hit - yeah that's not the case at all. Being pinged at 100m by enemies using a pistol isn't fun, and it's something that shouldn't even be in the game anyway (read: different weapons / weapon classes should have different accuracies and ranges and no pistol should be accurately shooting at 100m when their barrel length is so short - go one further in GTA VI by having heavier load bullets with higher grains being more capable, etc).

I'd also love to see something done about the Bad Sport system (sorry, who's the staff at HQ who thought this was a good idea in the first place?)
No, players shouldn't be punished monetarily or otherwise for defending themselves against a weaponised vehicle user.
No, players shouldn't be punished when they give themselves 2 hours for missions or heists, but it actually taking 4 hours, and when things still aren't completed due to incompetence, poor matchmaking or ridiculously nonsensical game mechanics, when that player then needs to leave the mission / game to carry out real life responsibilities they shouldn't be getting Bad Sport points.

I wonder if PS5 players are going to get the ability to adjust their safezone size come the next update?
Will Voice Chat settings be fixed so what the player(s) set, stays, in freeroam, in lobbies and in jobs?
Will the Galaxy Super Yacht settings finally be written to some file or something so those things don't adjust themselves randomly?
Will there be any checks in place for player(s) receiving incoming damage values from some sort of weapon system(s), but not actually losing health, to help fight against godmode users? (Remove player from session if consistent anomalies are found).

It's interesting how far we've come... but also how far we haven't.

I'd also like to see bugfixes and game patches be released on a more frequent basis, rather than dealing with potentially broken stuff for 6 months because we have to wait for the next Downloadable Content Update.

I generally don’t take the bait on the AI accuracy and police bits, but my < $.02:

If you’re getting killed by the police in this game, or cannot evade even a three star wanted level, that’s a talent and effort problem, and totally on you.

AI accuracy is what it is, but they clearly want the npc enemies challenging, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Your point about the variance between types of enemies is valid, but it isn’t changing until a new game, so moot for now.

Anyone getting RDO flashbacks?

Delayed DLC, vague "soon" comments, drop in quality, flashy nothing trailers and buzz articles, little to no communication, moving resources to other projects etc.

Nah this is normal, DLC's have been delayed by a week before, and ever since they clamped down on the datamining this little info in advance is the norm for each DLC, we know next to nothing till they release the Newswire and trailer which both are mostly just ads for the DLC with the list of new features, but they've always been that, that's nothing new.
Then we finally figure out what actually changed once the patch notes are released with new DLC itself, and find out all the changes they didn't include in the patch notes by playing the game.

Quality has actually been decent recently, compared to some of the older DLC's, and a Quality of Life/Bug fix dlc, which this is supposed to be, is what a lot of us have been asking for for a long time, even if it meant losing out on story content, another heist, etc.

Also Rockstar never communicates with us anyway, the recent community update is the first one in years that I can remember that they actually went a bit in depth on the upcoming DLC, little as it was

Delayed DLC is weird, but it has happened before, and the rest is par for the course.

Announcement/trailer/etc only a few days to a week before release, Summer DLC being smaller than the Winter ones (this does seem to be a type of LSSS, but I think people might enjoy modes finally coming to Cayo, at least I will, and I'm wondering about the IAA missions - not to mention the balancing changes, of which I'm sure there'll be more than those in the teaser article and people have been requesting them for years), etc. So nothing different there, and it in fact is probably gonna be a much better DLC than some think. Just the mention of QoL changes has been exceptionally well received (remains to be seen how some of them are executed).

As for moving resources, I think yeah it's to be expected GTA Online will get different, perhaps smaller updates in future as they finish up GTA VI, but I'd say only next year or so. The Winter DLC is likely still gonna be big.

tl;dr: no nothing is wrong

As someone that has been with GTAO and RDO since day one and obsessed with both, this feels different. RDO is dead (don't kid yourselves) and GTAVI is fast approaching. As I said above, I saw all these things with RDO; passing off a few contact missions as, what they are trying to make it out to be, as a fully fledged "story" screams of Blood Money to me, they did the exact same thing, and it turned out to be glorified Contact Missions. They gave it all the big licks with flashy newswires and sh*t and it turned out to be nothing.

But R* does say they're Contact Missions outright in the community update, they're not making it out to be anything that it's not. The missions can still have a logical sequence, which would make them a "mini story" I guess. I'm not sure where you see this "being advertised as a fully fledged story" thing, are we reading Newswires from alternate universes?

GTAO in LS isn't going to stay around forever, I'm sure everyone here knows that. If and when this cycle ends, we'll just jump in the next itaration of GTAO. The same can't be said about RDO because there probably won't be another version.

Two very different situations.

I think you're projecting a bit, probably because you're angry of the sh*t treatment RDO got, but for now GTAO is still Rockstar's/TakeTwo's goose that lays the golden eggs, they're not going to drop it till the replacement from GTA VI is in place and up and running, this is why they're pulling people from the RDO live team and not the GTAO live team.

It's also not the first time that a we just got a bunch of story based contact missions, Lowriders was that, 8 contact missions with Lamar.

Back after forced vacation. Anyway my 2 worthless cents on this summer update:

- I remember it was speculated after Gerald last play missions when we were expecting cnc update that it might be called "state of emergency" like one of the R* title IIRC so that may be possible name of summer update.

- OP MK2 will be nerfed but grieftards will be chilling in deluxos from now on so nothing will change significantly in that regards for those who play in public cesspool.

- Selling in invite only if there are no any limitations is great addition even if it's little too late. The buff on businesses payments most likely will be something like nightclub stock buff of 25-30% which was nothing special, should be at least doubled on all businesses but i doubt that will happen. "Expanding" is probably for the sake of marketing and nothing significant apart from something along the lines of some kind of interactive menu if that. Sourcing and selling will remain the same because it will take too much time to rework those aspects although i might be positively surprised with at least possibility to sell full stock with one vehicle like brickade for example.

- There will be 6 or more missions with cutscenes like casino ones, if they buff payment on all contact missions like they mentioned even if payout is 100k, due to repetitive nature it will be something that will be played a few times and forgotten like said casino and superyacht missions or the contract with dr dre.

- Other content like collectable events will end up not worthy with low pay like those treasure chests, if they were not unimaginative they could make this more interesting by giving some cosmetic items such as various weapon skins, clothing, etc.

- Speaking about those weapon files if they are not reserved for later updates "tactical" rifle instead of having some tactical feature like grenade launcher attachment or selective fire modes will be some kind of "tacticool" rifle like arx160 or fn2000 which is ok as long as it is on the level or better than special carbine mk2.

- In the end what will make or brake this update for me is vehicle selection. They tend to add a lot of niche cars or something that nobody wanted instead of fan requested cars with outdated interriors or butchered handling like s2 or deity which was not awd for example. Yea they finally added modern bufallo last time which was requested for years but nobody wanted big contingent of suvs, some of them lazily reskined or cinquemilla instead of modern ubermacht or benefactor sedan. Not to mention rehashed cars like beater dukes or jb700w to just increase the count of added cars. I just want one nice modern bmw sedan (not a f*ckin vagon please) and i would be happy. I knew they would add modern countach instead of aventador, typical R*... And increasing the storage limit to 2 more garages is big W.

Rant over.

Nowhere did I say they did not openly call them Contact Missions, what I said was, if you read properly, is that it reminds me of Blood Money. Nowhere did I say it's exact or word for work. I get that you need to keep the hype going to keep people here for that ad revenue but please, don't make out people who are sceptical are reading from "alternate universes"

I have been burned as many times as I have been happy with R* DLC so forgive me if I don't immediately drop to my knees.

I'm pretty sure most people here know this is mainly a QOL update with missions and other stuff sprinkled in there and we're okay with it.

I'd take 1 or 2 QOL updates throughout the year with few new things to do and a major DLC in December over them releasing major updates back to back without any QOL improvements.
