Nope. If anything it makes more sense if they release the second part before the magazine comes out. They released Trailer #3 before the worldwide previews.

Yeah that would be more sensible. Releasing a video after reviews makes no sense but releasing it before, yeah that makes sense.

Well look how starved people are for any bit of RDR2 information right now. People would be more likely to buy OPM for the cover story and information to satiate themselves. If Rockstar releases the video too close, then those same people will be less likely to purchase the OPM edition as they've been satisfied by the gameplay video. 

 

I suspect they'll release the 2nd video either in parallel with the cover story or slightly after either at the end of September or early October.

The hands on cover story is a big and exclusive deal. Not everyone gets it, I'd suspect this to be different, but what do I know. I know that expecting the gameplay video later rather than sooner limits my disappointment from unmet expectations.

Rockstar Games will not delay a game less than 2 months before the announced release. It would look bad. Very, very bad. Rockstar Games built a reputation for almost 20 years to deliver outstanding games. I would also trust them to know what they're doing marketing wise. 

 

That said, I want that gameplay trailer next week.

Trust me there's no way they are going to delay it unless they encounter a very very very critical bug

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but it's clear that there's an information EMBARGO on all media outlets regarding RDR2 until the drop of the OPM (or whatever major magazine) cover story. They most likely have an exclusive deal and Rockstar won't release anything to outshine the spotlight of the OPM cover story. 

 

So for everyone wondering and speculating when the gameplay video will drop and disappointing themselves because it doesn't, it seems that there is indeed an information EMBARGO so take that into consideration before getting upset when your expectations aren't met.

Some interesting changes are happening and I'm interested to see what they are preparing for us in the upcoming weeks.

I think it's more likely that people would not buy the magazine simply because people dont buy magazines anymore. This is why all the actual videogame magazines went out of business. Mags like EGM, Game Players, Next Gen, Computer Gaming World, GameFan, GamePro, etc.

 

The only thing left are pretend magazines that dont depend on magazine subscriptions in order to exist. Things like OPM and OXM which are funded by the console makers as a form of marketing, and EDGE which is funded by the slowly-dying GameStop as a way to hopefully get one more customer to place a pre-order before the inevitably close their doors due to Amazon and straight up digital sales.

 

This is a post-hardcopy, post-brick-and-mortar world.
