Rockstar do games marketing like no one else because their games are an event that outreaches even gaming world/ market. At the same time red dead is no gta. Ot does not have this poverful name. For example my friends ar casual gamers play fifa, nba, battlefield and they do not know anything about rdr. But if i mention gta everybody knows it. This is a very small case example but i think that is the case.

So Arthur's like, narrating the story? Nah, I don't think they'l do something like that. But I don't see Arthur dying either... (*cough* Arthur and Sadie fake their deaths *cough*)

It's called RDR2 cause it's a franchise now.

No actually my point is game starts as a prequel and ends as a sequel? Hopefully that makes sense to you

It's also possible they're calling it Red Dead Redemption 2 because the story is related to Redemption, and that the next entry in the franchise could still be Red Dead R______.

That would make zero sense. Also notice how the roman numeral "II" looks like in the logo. Another "I" would fit perfectly in there, wouldn't it?

Red Dead Redemption became popular so it makes sense they kept the name. And Redemption was never considered a sequel to Revolver, instead it was a "spiritual successor" (Some old interviews)

EDIT: Forgot to mention something, the theme of REDEMPTION could be a thing in every story of the series...

Not all all. I totally got what you meant. I just don't think they'll go that far in the future. It depends on the ending.

That'd be weird. Also, like I've said they've never called "Red Dead' a franchise.  At the end of the day, brand recognition matters and Revolver was surely not that popular.

Redemption could be a theme in every story of the series...

There's Only three differences between R* marketing and the rest of devs. First, R* don't  release  a 45 minute gameplay video to completely spoil a mission. 2)they announce their games way earlier which will cause the droughts to be longer and more frustrating BUT it's worth it. Why? 3)Because the game actually has something to offer we didn't know.

That's pretty old though. Don't you think if it mattered RDR2 would be titled something else? Anyone notice how they changed the logo of RDR2 from having a normal "2" to a roman numeral "II"?

Rockstar could call the next Red Dead whatever they want. Online/social media presence would mean there would be no confusion, and the studio name carries as much if not more weight than franchise names these days.

I have a very important question, i have the original Xbox One model, so i've tried to play the Forza Horizon 4 Demo on it but it doesn't start! The other two games i have on it (GTA V and MGSV: TPP) works fine. Does newer games only work on Xbox One S model and X now? Will it be a problem for RDRII??

Well, the 'normal' 2 just looked bad, so they likely changed it to the roman numeral 'II' instead.

No, knowing that RDR2 will be a prequel and therefore directly connected to RDR1 I understand why R* decided to name it RDR2 rather than Red Dead R(something).

But I absolutely believe that the next Red Dead will be titled Red Dead R(something) rather than RDR3 ... UNLESS it's again connected to the first two games ... but that's very unlikely!

Red Dead Redemption would be just a stupid name for a franchise, right?

Seems like an issue with the game itself 

Rest assures Red Dead Redemption 2 will work fine on standard Xbox One

So is it possible that Redemption 2 is called that just because of its' relation to the first one? Why have roman numerals in the logo then? And interestingly enough, R* started using the tag "Red Dead" on Newswire when the announced the first delay of RDR2 to Spring 2018. Though I gotta say, that could be a "generally speaking" type of situation. I mean some people refer to Redemption 2 as Red Dead 2...
