It's kind of a iffy situation because... well, V came out in 2013 (at the end of last gen's cycle) and here we are 5 years later with RDR2. I'm not sure what they'll do in the next 2 years before next gen comes around. They might be able to fit in something smaller (Like Bully 2, which has already been rumored) and let's be honest, VI is NOT going to be a current gen title (100% sure about this). And I'm sure they want their games to sell in the long term instead of releasing a sequel every 3-4 years. So if VI comes out 10 years after V it wouldn't be surprising. In the meanwhile, they'll release some more updates for Online. Same can be said about RD.

@joshua969 @Chinese Takeout Oh, I'm with you both here. I'm exactly the same. As much as I love a good book/film/game - for example, yesterday I finally watched The Wild Bunch, and I really liked it, but eitherway, I paused midway to read up on things that appeared in the movie and I often do that when I'm watching something alone. It just deepens and lengthens the experience. I don't know how long I waited to finish all of The Witcher 3 (I can say that I got it when it was released and I only finished it with expansions 100% a couple weeks ago, and made a build to hit the ground running with a NG+, whenever I'll have time for that, lol). With Red Dead Redemption, I roamed around for a good few weeks, maybe over a month even until I started the last "chapter", which only deepened my horror with the final outcome of the story.

 

So, yeah, I definitely hear what you're saying. I'm so excited about RDR2 and I know it'll keep me entertained and keep me surprised and engaged for a loooong time. I never rush through the story. I live in that world and I'll let it take however long it'll take.

 

All that said - on the topic of GTAV, I also still remember it like yesterday, but I also still remember that I had just been so deep in RDR and MP3 which both had great gunplay, and I still remember how strange (not to say unimpressive) the gunplay felt in North Yankton. All considered though, I liked GTAV, played through it twice and have spent a total of 145 days and 19 hrs (!) in GTAO. If RDR2 and Online is good, it'll probably serve me for years to come.

 

Edit: I had to add; with all this talk of pausing and seeing the map for the first time, seeing the R* logo upon the first startup - I'm so looking forward to that moment when the intro mission(s) are over, and you get to roam free for the first time, and you feel like someone's let go of your hand and you go "Ok. This is it."

People get bored of every game, or don't like it, even GTA. Few things are as popular as GTA as well, V has sold 100m copies give or take, that's INSANE for a single game. Early estimates put RDR2 at 15m sales this year, with some talk that could be conservative. That's a huge amount of sales for any game, it's a number 99.99% of game devs can only dream of.

 

The games online is gonna be huge for Take-Two/Rockstar, and if RDR1's online is anything go by, it's gonna live on for a long time.

They’re messing with us because of thousands of people crying for info every day. Typical Rockstar. Okay they are a giamt company and they wrote history with GTA V’s sales but it’s not a f*cking spaceship to Mars or it’s not a fuel efficient flying car or a pill that makes you Superman. It is just a f*cking game. Why rockstar?...

 

(btw, RDR is my childhood game and it has a really big place in my life, I am a real fan of it. But this is my opinion.)

Elsewhere, the Del Lobos Gang has taken over a hacienda - clear this gang’s hideout and rob their stash for a lucrative take.

I want RDO to be on the same scale as GTAO. Not a carbon copy but for them to understand what works and what doesn't and go from there. I'm into the whole story mode but I truly want RDO to be just as in depth and a true experience. RDO will be the highlight for me either way it goes.

For some reason i feel like the "skinny guy" was part of the Bollard Gang...idk, it's just weird he's not been mentioned or nothing

Let’s hope it doesn’t become a broken mess like how Red Dead Redemption’s multiplayer became three-fours later. To this day, sessions are still screwed up. I’m sure Rockstar will put in the effort to stop cheating/hacking like how they kinda did for GTA Online.

As far as I know hacking the PS4/Xbox One is still not possible, which was the 360/PS3's problem, where it was piss easy. So we should still be good.

Thank f*ck! I’m actually really excited to see how Red Dead Online turns out. There might be hiccups very early (as do all games) but not gonna lie, I’m really interested to see how it all turns out to be!

Ah... Thosef*cking hacker assholes pissed me off so bad. Ruined such an amazing online mode for years on end.. they exploited zombie assets and made thousands of NPCs the servers couldn't handle and made the infinite loading screens, invisible players, gunshots with no gun at you (their hands would shoot at you) and for what.. no life idiots I swear lol. But yes. Red Dead online will be awesome too and next gen has way better security than the 360 and PS3. Plus rockstar is more aware of this stuff they were already hiring people a while ago for anti cheat measures.

When public Free Roam sessions were shot to hell I usually just invited friends to a Private Free Roam session. I mean you can find some sessions that aren’t messed up nowadays but it’s kind of a waiting game. The loading screens still do that loading infinitely crap. lol

This past couple of months has felt as long as the entire wait up until that point for RDR2! Just because of how active we've all been here. There was a little dry spell after the first trailer, but i think i've been here every day since the second trailer released... The mapping project has been a major part of that, but still.

Damn.. really? Are you on PS3 or Xbox? Curious because I was playing just a couple months ago before the gameplay trailer dropped, and the game worked perfectly for quite a long time!!! We did gang matches for hours, were in public free roam hunting and playing land grab, my posse was all prestiege players and we had fun going around helping lower levels get their rank up there etc. The infinite loading screens weren't happening, the guns and kills were accurate and lag free, it was amazing and surreal for me. The game had worked the longest it had in years and I thought I'd never be able to play it again without doing that infamous go thru single player to private session mode to even play online .. this was on Xbox, btw.
