Precedent doesn't mean a thing.  2013 isn't 2018.  2011 isn't 2018.   RDR2 isn't RDR1, and RDR2 isn't GTA5.   I deal roulette at the casino every day, and every day the house take is predicated on idiots looking at the wheel's "history" to figure out what number is going to hit next.  That's how we get rich, because the idiots don't understand that past performance is no indicator of future results.  

Although they didn't specifically say "in the next trailer", they teased the GTAO reveal trailer at the end of the GTA V gameplay trailer. There's precedent.

 

It means a lot because Rockstar have been marketing RDR2 in a very similar way to GTA V, so 2018 is very similar to 2013. The "they don't need to announce it before hand" argument has happened before, way back in the GTA V days, people argued back and forth, even I argued that they don't need to at one point. But they always announce them at least a day before they drop, that's just how it always is. Does that mean it's 100% impossible that they won't shadowdrop a trailer? No, but if they did it would be the exception, not the rule.

For the unaware, Red Dead 2 O'clock are the same guys from GTA V O'clock. Back in the day they had some exclusive interviews but it was mostly trailer analysis and speculation.
