I agree.  It's not clear there is really anything unique to brag about in RD Online.  If they have some complex, exciting Online modes, they'd be spoiling them to give them away too early.  Moreover, they should probably observe the sales trends for the first few weeks of RDR single player, and decide when is the best time to goose a second wave of sales, by releasing the Online publicity blitz.

What discrafted said. Some people like it some people don't. It's cool to not like something but it's not cool to like something so much that the other things become trash. It is very bandwagoney the way people love fortnite with the group of people that I specifically know. They all hear about red dead and say how trash it is cause it isn't fortnite. Not saying that they PREFER fortnite but red dead isn't their cup of tea. Just like I've played the game , I don't blindly bash it. It isn't my thing tho. I prefer pubg if anything at all when I don't play that anymore either. That's the difference and what is so annoying is when people act like that

Yeah exactly. I've played it and it just isn't my thing. Simple as that. And I'm one of the people who would love to see a battle royale type mode in RDR2 online. There's nothing wrong with battle royale.. it's the people at times who play it and the options we have. With a quality like R* online GAME MODE not full game chill out yall who would slander me for saying this, the west is perfect setting for a BR mode.. it'd be sick to see R* mix it up while you go look for your weapons then ride away on horseback and have all out wars while trying to survive. That'd be sweet, imo.

That's sadly true. Again the bandwagon concept. A lot of people hate the idea of battle royale in RDR2 online for a mode. The majority of people I've seen absolutely hate it and say they'll boycott the game if it happens. I want it to happen lol it'd be cool as sh*t. Then again it's a MODE not all the online has to offer.

Motor Wars was fun in V. It'd be cool if RDR2 had a BR mode. Maybe Rockstar could put their spin on the concept too.

If it's done properly, with 60+ people, it'll have all the locations you'd want for it, towns, forts, ganghideouts, uneven terrain for natural cover, etc, maybe add animal hunting for healing/crafting supplies, wild horses for transport... They could do some pretty cool stuff with it that no other BR game can.

And they definitely will that's the cool thing about it. Strauss already confirmed a while ago that they don't plan on doing battle royale for online at all but if they do it won't just be a cash in typical BR thing. R*, would make it their own mode, which is what'd make it great in the first place. Plus it won't be a buggy unfinished POS like most games like that lol

This is exactly why I want it the way you described it is how I envisioned it in my head talk about hype!! Plus if the hot air balloons like on the cigarette cards is a thing (I hope it is) thTd be PERFECT for red dead time period.. your way to get onto the map. Just hop on a hot air balloon till you hit the ground then run for your guns

In RD Online, to make it realistic to the era, there should be no session chat that operates over the entire map.  That is, if you're outside of some realistic shouting radius to another player, the chat should not get through.  Same for voice chat - it should only be heard within shouting distance.

Proximity chat, yea. Would be good, but voice chat in games (especially on consoles) has been riperoni'd due to party chat so it sorta makes the whole thing pointless.

I do hope RDR2 has a BR mode cause the potential with the scale of this map and gameplay mechanics is crazy when you think about it.

I agree. Hope they have the Hot Air Balloon too. Would make an ambient view as the sunsets.

 

Personally think if it's tied to a rope so you can go up to a certain point & only in one place, will still give the ability to appreciate the area from up high but not enough to break immersion cause its tied to a rope you won't hit skybox & you can't get around the map in "flying mode" so Map won't feel so small so soon.

 

Could have these at certain points across the map. Near a Town so you can get an ambient view of the Town, at a Paticular area near a stream or Waterfall.

Guys I think everyone of us quotes some RDR2 lines from time to time, but I have to share my gf's attempt on them. She has heard the quotes quite a few times (I think I watched all the trailers a 'few' times) but last week she tried to finish the last parts of the quotes:

 

Me: 'Sure we can have fire..'

She (with total confidence): 'We can all have a fire!!'

 

Me: 'They chased us from the West..'

She: 'They chased us from the East!'

 

Me: 'They, will not..'

She: '...have faith?'

 

Me: 'Stay strong..'

She: 'Stay together!'

 

It might not sound so funny right now but damn it was f*cking hilarious . Would love those quotes in the final game. 

 

My gf doesn't play games (except sometimes a multiplayer thing with me), but she really enjoys my crazy hype about Red Dead and also the trailers. She's got a few quotes right though (yes I'm proud). Her favorite one, probably mine as well is the already classic line: 'This place, ain't no such thing, as CIVILIIIIZED!'

 

I'd like to know how you guys/gals share your hype with your gf/bf!

 

Oh and I was certainly disappointed today. I always tell myself don't expect something 'cause you know nothing is coming most probably. BUT for some reason my expectations are always there lol. I know I shouldn't expect something for tomorrow, but when the time comes... oh well.

If RDO launches with the main game, we will definitely see a trailer before the game launches. Whether we like it or not, RDO will be the main money source for rockstar. Unless they dont have micro transactions.

This is déjà vu to early 2012, when Rockstar was advertising Max Payne 3.  Every MP3 newswire PR note or tweet was inundated with fan replies asking when GTAV was coming out. 

 

All the people were in agony over the first GTAV info drought after the Nov 2011 announcement trailer, and they thought sure that GTAV was going to come out before 3Q 2012, so they couldn't believe Rockstar was wasting time and bandwidth on MP3 advertising. 

 

Talk about impatience.  It was a bad time.  A very bad time.  Worse than this.

Yep I remember that. I wasn't in the forums cause I didn't even know they existed but I was on the rockstar newswire and I remember all the comments were like "max gayne" " f*ck max we want GTA v" "FFS C* where's GTA V"?! "In a few weeks or so™" Etc etc. Lol it got so bad that they had to turn off their newswire comments section completely.. LOL poor max. What a payneful experience. And funny thing is thru an Easter egg,Max Payne ended up in GTA V after all that anyways... Even more LOL

I for one would also really like to see BR in RDR2. But I’d like there to be other game modes as well, as well as the freedom to just roam around. But I’m sure we’ll have all that.

Fortnite isn’t my thing though either. Not saying it’s bad at all, it’s a great concept that obviously works, made by a studio that knows what they’re doing when it comes to shooters. But it’s too cartoonish for my tastes, and it doesn’t have blood.

For the very same reason, I can totally get that a lot of kids play it. Parents might not want to see their kids do meth sales, buy hookers, beat each other bloody and steal cars.

I enjoy Fortnite. It's fun to play a match now and again, and a BR mode in RDR II could be cool.

 

But it's nothing I'd consider particularly noteworthy, and I think its popularity is overrated. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m no fan of Fortnite (don’t mind the other Battle Royales though at the moment). Guilty of playing it but Jesus Christ you people build so fast so I don’t stand a chance. lol

 

Fortnite to me is basically people screaming “My base is bigger than your base, nan na na boo boo!” The dances are annoying to all hell and I can’t get excited for a rocket ship taking off during a live event or what’s currently going on now with people obsessed over a dimensional cube. That sh*t ain’t me. Just an opinion and preference. That’s just how I feel about it. Don’t mean no “attack” either by stating this. 

 

Everyone just has their own taste in different types of video games/genres which is totally cool!

The only reason that RDR2 wouldn't end up having micro-transactions is if Take Two ended up making SO MUCH money from GTAO(they did), that they decide RDR2 doesn't need them (it doesn't). But this is Take Two we're talking about. The Bronze Medal of scummy corporate greed.

 

RDR2 will have them. However, I don't think they'll get as bad as GTAO's did.
