The first Redemption was treated as one, but that game sold 15m+ copies and is regarded as one of the best games of all time. They can, and are, marketing RDR2 like they would a GTA because they now have the brand recognition.

 

Also, no one gives pre-order numbers anymore.

I don't know the lower limit exactly, no, but even if it's 4-5 weeks, we're not there yet. The game still has plenty of time to go gold.

Fast and easy. It's done all the time, with larger numbers, in longer distances, and in shorter time frames.

It's quite possible. Here in Brazil the copies are printed on national territory. They're not imported. Just Nintendo's games are imported. Xbox One and PS4 games are printed here with national manufacturer. So I guess there's many other countries that do the same thing.

Wasnt thinking about just sending the file to big burning facilities. But even still, they have to package all those discs, get them on trucks, and out to all the stores. Thats got to be at least 2 weeks to pull that off from the day the disc file gets sent over.

Yeah, on that note you're right. Maybe 4 weeks is enough to print and ship to all the stores that will be selling it. We're still 14 days away from the One Month milestone. So, there's plenty of time.

It's not a completely new IP i'm quite aware. What i meant was that the RDR "brand" is still "fresh" and doesn't have as many games out there as GTA have. And very true what you're saying, no one gives their pre-order numbers away pre-release. I just personally found it weird Strauss who is part of a trend-breaking developer as R "refused" to do so.

Rockstar's PR is really bad. They don't care about the customers.  Even  these side-missions behind a paywall are a lack of respect.

 

Are their games among the best? Sure, but that doesn't hide the fact that they're becoming what you mentioned.
