I did some digging and back in 2013 R* announced the GTA Online Gameplay and Previews on a Monday, stating it's coming Thursday. 3 days in advance. More specifically they announced it August 12th and it released August 15th.

Maybe they'll do that again? Given they pretty much copied GTAV marketing for RDR2 in many instances. This could mean on Monday, Sep 10 they'll announce Gameplay and Preview(s) coming next Thursday, Sep 13.

 

Just speculation, but you never know with Rockstar.

I agree. Not saying it will happen but Rockstar march to the beat of their own drum.

R* never really does that tho. They usually announce trailers beforehand

we did get the announcement for Part 1,Rockstar loves to give a date for a trailer and get people hyped

R* always announced their Trailers beforehand, at least since GTA4. I don't know how they handled it during the PS2 era though.

 

More importantly for their last game (which should be our reference for RDR2 marketing for various reasons) they announced every trailer before releasing them.

 

I also found out they announced the final trailer 2 days in advance.

Trailer 1 was announced a week before (on October 26th 2011 ;))

the 2nd Trailer also a week before and released on a Wednesday accompanying previews. The character trailers also accompanied previews around the same time.

 

This leads me to believe the Gameplay Video will be released next week alongside the previews, like they did earlier this year.

 

The first Gameplay for GTAV was announced a day before and there wasn't any Previews, just like RDR2! More proof they are following GTAVs schedule. And for Online they had previews alongside the trailer and because of this my theory is they'll be announcing Gameplay #2 next week alongside the previews.

They just released the games lol,they were pumping out so many GTA's and other franchises that they didn't have the time to announce things

There was no Newswire, so trailers were given to the press from an FTP server and the press basically just reposted Rockstar's press releases for the trailers, including announcements. Announcements came out on websites like IGN and the sort.

 

@ above: Nah, there was pre-release hype and content too. Just managed differently.

There's a slight difference in that both of the confirmed previews are for magazines and not online outlets. The Edge issue is meant to be in the hands of subscribers as early as next Monday, so assuming it is indeed a Red Dead hands-on issue, releasing gameplay tomorrow makes more sense.

Each separate Rockstar game did get its own flash-based website in the Rockstar system though. The San Andreas website was unbelievably good back in the build-up in 2004, but I'm not sure if it even runs anymore.

I'm not saying it isn't possible. I mean Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay was released without an announcement and we know how successfull the Video is now on YouTube. More likes and views than the RDR2 Gameplay.

 

But I've always managed to be surprised by R* by expecting something at the latest possible date. I expected Trailer #3 and the Gameplay Video a week after the actual release. Maybe it'll be the same with Gameplay #2. If not, then I finally got a prediction right lol ... So win-win for me ^^

Yeah, I don't like the idea of it as well, ESPECIALLY sine they'd want to show the game BEFORE we read the preview articles, right???

It would be quite odd indeed. R is the type of company to ration the info they release and feed it to us bit by bit. Gameplay and previews next week seems like...a little too much. if anything it makes more sense to give us the Part 2 this week and then next week is the Previews.

Well there was also a long tease on the Twitch account which eventually led to the gameplay demo. No announcement but still hyped it up with a cryptic twitch stream.
