Fair enough. I really dug the semi-linear design of the world my self, it's not that common you see a game like that. Felt like it had a good mix of exploration but also didn't make you stray too far away that you ended up spending hours away from your objective. It was really paced in that regard IMO.

Personally I dug the all in one camera. I know why people can think it's iffy especially with the way fast travel worked but it beats a black loading screen for me.

The camera certainly looks cool, but that coolness will fade after you see it multiple times. That's when the problems start to become more visible. And in regards to fast travel, I think they could have pulled it off in a way that wouldn't require them to load in that middle area and still not do a black screen. Just have them walk through a minimal area of light and have the door to the other side appear. Would make fast travel so much faster. Also(this is more of a personal pet peeve), the camera led to the implementation of what I call "walkie-talkie" scenes. Those parts in Naughty Dog style games where you are just walking in a straight line while characters talk at you for minutes on end, while I just start to think "Why not just make this a cutscene? I'm not suddenly more engaged just because I'm pushing forward on the control stick."

 

My problem with the RPG elements mostly stems from the stats. It honestly seems like they implemented stats and leveled enemies to cover for the lack of enemy variety (seriously, you fight a variation the first boss like half a dozen times). The old games were a perfect example of how you could naturally ramp up difficulty by implementing new enemies and enemy variations as the game progressed.

I think that nowadays especially where everyone has an opinion to be heard, truthfully everything is subjective. There are too many things to factor in why a person may not like what someone else thinks is the best game ever, or not. I respect opinions like the ones on this page, healthy discussion:) but I HATE the fanboy attitudes that a lot of people in YouTube comments have and sh*t. Like. God Of War for me is my favorite game of the year (so far, till RDR2 is crowned that) and it reminds me of the whole topic on the back and forth between cyberpunk and red dead. Imo, both games will be PHENOMENAL. The Witcher 3 is in my top 3 games of all time and all my as of right now the order goes RDR1, God Of War, The Witcher 3. Anyways about Cyberpunk 2077 and RDR2 they are totally different games and WAY opposite in theme.. only thing they have in common is a really great developer who spends years on the games and it's open world.

 

For that reason, I don't see why some of the R* fans have to hate on CDPR?? And CDPR fans on R* ? They literally have said they look up to R* and wanna be like them in their own way. From the quality, to releasing games only when ready etc... Like fans don't you want that? More game devs that are amazing and worth a damn? Sorry this turned into a bit of ranting but seriously I just can't stand the amount of hate in this world and in the game industry especially it's toxic as all hell. Why can't you love all great games?? It sounds so stupid tbh to take a game like RDR2 and cyberpunk and pick one then be like pfft the other  is TRASH like clearly it's not, they are both high quality. Which is why it's a dumb statement. Point is , it isn't a crime to hold RDR2 in your highest regard but also say that cyberpunk 2077 looks amazing, and give props where it's due. R*, and CDPR are in fact my favorite developers. Can't wait for both of those games man . Red Dead is my baby tho!!! My number 1 personally!

Spider-Man honestly speaking, not as a fanboy but real facts. I am very excited for it, so thankful it comes out now. BUT it will not win game of the year over red dead redemption 2 I can guarantee you that much. But  Over god of war which is amazing too mind you. I don't think will win either. Then again, a game doesn't need to be game of the year to be great!! But still. GOTY 2018=RDR2

It may very well end up being that. No different than "people" here claiming RDR2 will be GOTY. 

 

Considering I haven't played neither I can't say, but God of War is my personal one so far and it's going to take a lot to top it.

Haha hell yea man I been waiting all day long for this moment I knew it was finally September 1st but yep, I remember first time I saw the red R* logo and for the next few nights I just stayed up anxiously waiting for more updates I knew would come EVERY morning, and they did... I was so hyped and happy when I saw all of it. Then I found this place while obsessively searching for RDR2 and never made an account till the 2nd trailer lol I lurked for a longgg time. Think I remember a thread before where speculation about E3 was going on and all? People started catching on that a new red dead was coming and I wanna say it was "rumor mill" or something

I hope the heists in this game are just as good as the ones in  GTA V. Everything about them were great! Like the music building up, it made you feel like you were there. Had me on the edge of me seat. Oh and I hope we can choose how to tackle a heist just like in GTA V.
