So I guess that confirms that the original game's map is definitely exploreable. Perhaps with the exception of Mexico.

My guess is that part of the map unlocks after John is shot on that failed robbery. We could see how Bill ends up in Fort Mercer and meets Norman Deek.

I'd add to that also that it has seemed like markets are filled with either these "battle royale"-games (that are just garbage IMO) and early access-games that are never gonna leave the early access... So it's not just consoles, but the gaming trends of the past few years... It just sucks.
