They don't do the big ones like E3 and Gamescom. I looked up more about this one. Seems to be a smaller Gamestop-sponsered Expo. This must have been a surprise showing because Rockstar isn't mentioned at all on the Expo's website (though that was most likely on purpose).

Rockstar have taken part in the Gamestop expos to showcase Max Payne 3, GTAV and the PS4 port. I expected they'd be there.

It's a gamestop event with gamestop managers/employees they probably talk about and show them the upcoming games that come out this fall. Every now and then we get lucky and something leaks.

Rockstar do gaming events, just not to the public. Gamestop employees have seen R* games as said above, and according to Eurogamer R* was spotted at E3 with RDR2, but it was probably a showing to Sony/MS execs.

I said this a long time ago why would they need another preview before the next gameplay video they already revealed the series. It only makes since for them to just release the episodes as they come out again no need for a warning we know it's a series!

It’s hard to imagine Rockstar just releasing something without any notice. They’ve announced all their trailers for upcoming games since 2007 and I don’t know why they’d change that now. Now, that’s not to say they won’t announce it on Thursday for a Friday release or on Monday for a Wednesday release. The announcement doesn’t have to be exactly the same as the first gameplay trailer.

There you have it, kids.  You want an early look at the next hot Rockstar game, all you gotta do is become a Sony or MS gaming executive.

It would be amazing if they focused more on being interconnected with the community rather than beefing the info for their shareholders and game companies. you can guarantee IGN will be paid ass over tits for a 10/10 review. 

 

Not really bothered about the information, just hate the way they operate - suspense - drip of info - suspense - dribble of info - release hype - post launch - back to being the most famous mutes in the world.

They likely got a extended presentation. For Max Payne 3 they had a PR person show off single player, talked about Euphoria, bullet time and all that. Then capped it off with multiplayer footage. This was like late 2010 i think or early 2011. Basically when there was a large lull on Max news and my info spread around places....lol

 

Same for GTAV where there was an extended preview for the PS4 version where we got details on First Person and the new visual update etc.
