Hi everyone, I’ve been following this thread for months and I have decided to join you for this last part of our wait until we can finally play this masterpiece. However, analyzing R*’s marketing campaign, I thought if RD online will be revealed before the release of RDR2. In my opinion maybe R* could only reveal the next gameplay video, and other things related to the story mode and then after the game is available, they will show the online mode. I think this can be plausible due to the fact that they don’t want to spoil too much of the game world and mechanics before the release. But this is just my opinion.

Welcome to the forum.  We're in the home stretch, so this should be fun.

Yeah, I don't think anyone has taken into account that online may come out a bit later.  I'm pretty sure GTAO launched 2-3 weeks later than single player.

I think the MP will be available 2 weeks after the game's release just like V. But they'll definitely release a gameplay video for it before the release.

How do you guys think the side quests will work? Because based on the interviews and the press showing, R* seems to want to move away from a classical implementation of side quests (i.e. you get clear information of an activity you can partake in, it pops up on a list along with a checklist of sub-quests to cross off) and instead are opting for a more "fluid" implementation, blurring the lines between main quests and side quests.

 

I'm sure everything will be fine, but the completionist in me is a little frightened by this. I honestly kind of prefer having a clear list to cross things off of. I don't want to miss out on anything. I'm almost militant in this way - if I'm watching a movie and I'm missing one line of dialogue, I have to rewind to be sure I get it right. Those 5 quests I've failed in the Witcher 3 remain failed and are somewhat hurting my head whenever I see them. On the plus side; it might be good for my OCD to have blurred lines and just go with the flow instead.

I wonder if they're going to call the MP counterpart "Online" again (Adding Online at the end of the franchise's name). What if they call it "Red Dead Redemption 2 Online" or "Red Dead Redemption 2 Multiplayer" I dunno. So is "Online" just going to be brought back with each sequel? I guess they could do that.

We kinda see this natural flow of side missions in the gameplay trailer with "The Man from Blackwater".

No idea. His past 2 accounts there got banned for being alts and despite all his double and triple posts talking to himself, outing who he was and me reporting them...nothing has happened dammit. lol

Didn't they register the "Red Dead Online" trademark and various URL's when they announced the game back in 2016? I'm sure I remember seeing stuff about that.

The registered .online for all their franchises... e.g: bully.online, maxpayne.online etc a few years ago

I remember something about a reddeadonline.com when the game was first teased but i'm not sure if that was official. I think it was registered by someone else or maybe i'm mistaken. Can't really remember right now.

I feel certain she's doing it on purpose because she knows how much we are all looking forward to seein Sadie's artwork at a proper angle!

I hope R* makes them available as download on their website soon as well.

 

Also at this point it should be clear that there'll 'only' be 2 gameplay videos focusing on the singleplayer mode and then probably 1 for the online portion of the game.

 

My prediction for the upcoming weeks leading up to the release of RDR2

 

September 6 - 2nd gameplay video

September 10 + following days - first hands-on previews (EDGE)

September 27 or October 4 - multiplayer gameplay video

October 12 or October 18 - launch trailer
