Well, that is hard to say... I don't even know all the things we can do in this massive world. But if there are no story progress restrictions to the map, I will probably go exploring as far as I can go. Also, I am really curious about the physics so I will most likely shoot a few peds to test it out... :P

I'm going straight to Blackwater, the Great Plains and Tall Trees. And if New Austin is back, I'm going there next. I want to experience the novelty and nostalgia of visiting the old map with the new level of graphics and detail the game has.

After I get my nostalgia chills I'll slowly start to explore the new map.

Depends where it happens. If it's in the mountains, I'm probably climing down first.

And then I'll just explore like 2-3 miles around camp, hunt, and go to sell the pelt and meat to the nearest town and see what's going on there.

And then go hunting again and bring back the meat to camp.

I'm hoping and expecting to get sidetracked a lot during all this, with random events and such.

People who want to go to see RDR1 map immediately, honestly you should think about it and ask yourselves if it wouldn't be better to just get there when the story wants you to.

Explore. Lots and lots of exploration. I don't want to rush the story so i plan on doing little bits at a time to make it longer.

I'll probably hang with the gang for a while to get to know the way the game works to start with but at the first opportunity I'm heading to Annesburg (got this thing about coal mines as I was brought up in a mining village in the North East of England). Taking my time to get there though, hunting and fishing along the way, live the drifter life there and back. One of the things I'm most looking forward to in this game is the freedom of the open world and escaping form real life for a while!.

Once I've checked it out I'll wander on back to the gangs camp and continue on with the story. No way I'm going to rush it though. Waited a looooong time for this game to drop so I'm going to savour every second of it.

Jezzz, I'm 51 years old and I feel like a kid in the week before Christmas! my wife thinks I'm nuts...lol.

Explore the camp. Talk to my gang. Pour a cup of coffee and maybe chop some wood.

When the reigns are off, what is the first thing you will do?

If the leaked map is legit, I plan to take a horseback ride from camp south east towards a crossing which will take me to Blackwater, from there I plan to travel through Thieves Landing and onto MacFarlanes Ranch and Armadillo for pure nostalgia (you can see why I choose the username I did!)

Sorry if this has already been covered, I’m new here and used the search function but couldn’t find any specific topic.

I think for me it will depend on how quest's work. The way Rockstar talks, it doesn't sound like they want quests to be like Witcher3 or GTAV where you go some where and accept a quest then go do it, they want it more organic.  so if you have an open quest then go leave to explore, is that quest gonna fail?  Also i know the world is opened all the way after the prologue, but does that mean everything is unlocked then?

I thought about this question a lot the last months.

But the answer is as easy as it gets. I will do it like i did with every R* Open World title.

That means i will just explore and follow everything that catches my interest. I got the strong feeling there will be more to follow then in any other R* title (and probably every other game I played) till now.

Pour myself a glass of bourbon.

This is the correct answer!

And savor the visuals while figuring out the nuances of the controls.

Then, sometime not long after that, a mother***ing bear will probably maul me, tear me to shreds, and ruin my day.

I have a feeling that area is going require a higher character level to visit.

Think I'm all set as I'm working this weekend instead of next, just got to make sure I've plenty of tea bags in. So much looking forward to absorbing the game and just getting lost for a spell learning what's new. And of course, any in-game plans are quickly altered once we open this baby up.

Assuming we are indeed in the Horseshoe Overlook camp, I will turn and have a conversation with the gang member nearest me. I'll then explore the camp, and maybe do a side activity if one is available. Then I'll go out and explore some of the surrounding scenery - but not too far, because I like to open up the map mostly in the context of the story. Hopefully will run into some sort of random event and/or pick up a side quest. Maybe try and hunt something and bring it back to camp.

After that, I'll take a deep breath and go back and do another story mission. Then rinse and repeat!

Nah. Won't happen in a R* title like you see in a lot RPGs or Assasins Creed. There is now way e.g. some enemies from new Austin will survive a head shot from a gun you have right away.

That is true, but if the NPC skill is higher, then they will just shoot you in the head before you can unholster your pistol lol. I would like to see how it works, because their Organic story line would fit better with more linear world or world that opens  up in sections like the first Redemption. It wouldn't feel organic if your suppose to get Uncle a deer for him to cook, then you go and spend the next 2 weeks IRL in new austin.

I think that after the prologue is done not everything is unlocked. Like maybe the barber en clothing stores are unlocked at a later time in the game. Most Rockstar games if my memory serves me right unlock stuff like that later on. And most of the time introduce it with a story/side mission. So when the prologue is done I'm going to stick around the camp for a bit. Do some side activities which I think the camp members give you and hopefully unlock certain things like the barber and such. Then when I have that I will start to roam around a bit further from the camp. Lead my horse trough the wilderness and take in the sights as slowly as possible, going to be fully immersed with this game. Hunt, fish, poker wondering around, trying to earn a little bit of money and than slowly make my way back to the camp and start doing part of the story. Which I try not to complete too fast since I want to enjoy every minute of this game.
