When you first leave the Grizzlies...

Recommended Posts

Dick Justice

This might be a little off-topic, but how long do you think we'll actually stay in the Grizzlies for the intro? The previews confirmed at least two-missions, being the Blackwater robbery and the train-heist, and then you have the "we need to get these people warm and fed" mission which likely occurs up there too. That's three by my reckoning... which doesn't include what we see in the leaked map:

Spoiler

You have a campsite named Colter in the intro area, so there may be a mission that explains how to run the camp. Then you also have the Adler ranch, so I'm willing to bet there's at least five missions before we even get down to New Hanover.

It stands to reason that we'll be spending a lot longer in the Grizzlies than we did in North Yankton despite the setups being quite similar.

Back on-topic: I'll likely take a side-mission at the camp. I love the idea of going out into the world for the very first time with a purpose only to completely lose any direction I had and getting lost in the process.

I'll wait until the game let's me loose, you know what I mean. After the intro missions are done and it kinda opens up on its own.

Then I'm going hunting, for 'gator.

It'll probably be a good hour or two of play in the intro.  After that I'm getting on my horse and riding out in 1 direction like I always do in open world games.  Like in Skyrim or fallout 4 I'd just go east or west and explore everything in that direction (and completely ignore the main story)

It all depends what time of the day, where and how the first mission ends and is the mission 2 straight after that. If it ends in day time i may just wander in the wilderness till night and maybe hunt or visit some town. If it ends in night time I may just put Arthur sleeping and skip to next day and maybe mission 2.

Definately staying in the same area where the camp is at first, because i don't want to spoil the entire map in the start of the game.

Im going to play the game slow as possible and not speed play the missions in row. Slow as possible is the way I allways play open world single player games from R*. I want to feel it like its real life or a movie you are watching.

Provided the mechanics (bows/selling) aren't still locked behind a disguised tutorial mission, hunting. I plan on hunting and selling until bored so I can buy new clothes after seeing Arthur in the same sh*t for 2 years. I also plan on finding out whether or not Karen wants to go on a real adventure.

Screw around for no less than 2 hours before starting the next story mission. Im concerned about leaving my horse now since they say it doesnt come with you if you ride a train or whatever. As in, you cant just whistle it back to you if you travel across the map.

I’ve read somewhere about having ‘stables’. Maybe you can leave your horse there and then jump on a train. It wouldn’t surprise me if your horse ‘finds’ it way back to the stables if you do abandon it.

I'm going to try to complete the story by the end of the weekend. Be an asshole and do choices which I feel are wrong and enjoy the post game. Then do a 'proper' playthrough while being able to browse Reddit and this Forums for tips and tricks without worrying about spoilers.

I plan to stick with the story for a couple of missions post-Grizzlies, which might be around 3-5 missions, just enough to get grounded into the game, and then from there I will start exploring the map and interact with NPCs for side missions and stories. If New Austin is kept a secret until then, I'll definitely try to find it once I start to explore, and I'm already anticipating broken bridges and train tracks that will make it inaccessible until later, just like Redemption's Nuevo Paraiso.

Will see .... Will see

If Rockstar do plan on restricting you to the Grizzlies for the first few missions then that sounds like a challenge to me to glitch into New Hannover.

If Armadillo is in the game I will ride my horse there and appreciate the scenery on the way there.

I just want to turn the hud and mini map off and explore. I don't care where I go, North, East, South or West, I just want to ride out into the world and see whatever organically happens. I won't stop riding on and off the trail until Arthur is singing to himself out of madness from starvation.

I personally will be playing the game realistically so I'll probably just jump on my horse and go on a ride through the wilderness, familiarizing myself with the world and taking in the scenery. Probably have a few conversations with NPC and scout some robbery targets for later. Then I'll hunt a deer to get to grips with the new hunting features and probably head back to camp with it.

The previews said you're in Valentine after the intro missions in the Grizzlies? If so, I'll walk around the little town and greet people and check out the shops and saloon. Take in the details of everything. Try to go 3 in-game days without doing anything stupid. Find a mustang and name him Duke.

I'm looking forward to the act of actually leaving the Grizzlies. I'm gonna find the highest peak and Max Payne dive off and slide the whole way down!

Skin up and mount horse... Walk with him, head in one direction, admire and explore then see what happens....

Also very keen to start fishing.. Seth tutorial maybe?

The depth this game is offering is simply overwhelming...  That's 2019 sorted for me at the very least!!

Walk everywhere: No fast travel, no running, just enjoying the scenery and taking all in.

Then maybe get a horse and immerse myself playing missions, get some bounties...I will also see if we can rob trains on the spot and if it's not exclusive to missions.

After that? Go fishing.

If you’re anything like me you’ll spend an hour preparing the jump and then die instantly on a rock.

MARKUS.

To be honest guys I prefer to visit those new places of the map as the story progresses. So I can feel that I am a stranger, that is most likely what Arthur is going to feel. More like CJ when arrives to San fierro or Las Venturas

When the reigns are off, what is the first thing you will do?

If the leaked map is legit, I plan to take a horseback ride from camp south east towards a crossing which will take me to Blackwater, from there I plan to travel through Thieves Landing and onto MacFarlanes Ranch and Armadillo for pure nostalgia (you can see why I choose the username I did!)

Sorry if this has already been covered, I’m new here and used the search function but couldn’t find any specific topic.

Generally when i first play an open world game, i tend to look at the map in game to see how big it is.

After the prologue I will most likely - A - Complete a few more missions to earn funds and learn more about RDR2

or B - Start hunting for a bit to earns funds for guns.
