You say "meh" but the world of GTAV looks bloody fantastic in first-person mode. Admittedly It's not that great to actually play in, but I've spent countless hours just walking around observing the world close up. Really makes you appreciate the small details R* puts into their worlds! Edited September 20, 2018 by jaredk_ P.T.

Zevick
A couple of good reactions for comments here, but the others who are saying meh or it can't work or it's not needed. You are entitled to your opinion, but if you would take a step back and think about it for a second, you might feel differently, or perhaps you will have to wait and see when it comes out but please don't be closed to the prospect of the following and hear me out. With everything we know, and we know even more today, about the detail and the realism they have put into RDR 2. Everything that's been stated especially about the animations, the 3rd person animations are flawless. The way Arthur takes his guns in and out of his horse's saddle. The fact that as it was stated today, I will find it if you would like a source, when Arthur loots bodies or rummages through a cabinet the animations are detailed as hell. I imagine getting on your horse the animation must also be flawless. They are going for realism above all else guys, this is been stated so many times. Do you really think they will half ass the first person animations, or the mode in general? I for one do not beleive that they will. In GTA V the main issue people had with first person, myself included, was the fact that things would clip and the animations were not right or weren't there at all for first person. They have focused on every little detail, from needing to oil and clean your guns (also confirmed can also find the source for you) to your horses balls. They will hammer out every detail for the first person mode I have not a shadow of a doubt in my mind. If what I say ends up to be true, combined with the fact that you can turn off your entire HUD or set it to minimal to only have what you feel is needed on screen, this will be the most immersive realistic experience we have ever had with a video game. Seriously, take a step back and contemplate the possibilities here. I for one am more excited for this game than I have ever been for a game in my life, and I am a hardcore gamer who has been very excited for MANY games over the years. The realism, immersion, and detail in this game has no equal and nothing can compete with it. The only other game that I feel will be on this level of next gen will be Cyberpunk 2077. All game companies will have to rethink their future plans for their games, as RDR 2 is raising the bar here. If someone can't or won't see that they are blind, it's obvious from what we have seen and read that this will change gaming henceforth. Now to the topic sorry got a bit sidetracked ha. I am incredibly happy that they are giving us a first person mode, it only adds more options. Now anyone has the choice to say play in third or first, or both, as really third is good for certain situations first is better for others, and there's nothing wrong with switching back and forth! I for one will play this game in first person the first time I play through to literally live in the world, as this is how I enjoy to play games. HUD turned off, first person, and my character, guns, and horses customized in the way that best fits me. I will also make honor choices based off of what I would do in the situation. If you've never played a game this way, I would recommend you give it a try with this one, you won't regret it. It's a special kind of feeling you get from this, you can literally zone everything out around you and envelope yourself completely in the game, and it becomes more than a game at that point. It is the best stress reliever and escape I've ever had with experiences such as this. Though there has always been something about the game that just wasn't realistic, or detailed enough and pulled me out, and I realized I was just playing a game. But for the few minutes I was able to zone out completely, it's been some of the best times of my life. I feel like, especially now that first person is confirmed, and I know it will be polished and not like GTA V, that with RDR 2 I will be able to completely zone everything else out and be IN the game while I'm playing and you can't put a price on an experience like that. I will then play a second time in third person probably as full on bad, another time full on good, another as in between etc. Haha, I plan on playing through this game MANY times. P.S if you don't believe me about the details in this game, reall all the new info that came out today: https://twitter.com/i/moments/1042896334892748800?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^moment|twgr^383231323b636f6e74726f6c&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Frockstarintel.com%2F2018%2F09%2F20%2Feverything-we-learned-today-about-red-dead-redemption-2%2F AMAZING. Why would the guy you're dueling against be smaller in first person? The camera would be closer to him. There's an option to make the horse's head invisible. I can't see it being a huge deal anyway though. damienrayemusic

CrimsonFolo
If they have improved this mechanic from GTAV, then hell yea FP is a great addition. GTA V FP felt like it was just tacked on and too janky?
Lock n' Stock
I knew they wouldn't introduce it in GTA V only to abandon it afterwards. Good call R*.
