RAGE Audio Toolkit + Audio Editor

hex based audio metadata editor for IV & EFLC

RAGEAT allows you to edit metadata files such as sounds.dat15, game.dat16, speech.dat, etc. by duplicating original entries and editing them.

IV Audio Editor is a console converter from IV Audio to text-based format like openFormats and vice versa. Besides sounds, tool saves additional files and timestamps. Use it just drag'n'drop file on exe file.

And the award for the best GTA modding tool of 2018 goes to... :)

Great work! I'm so glad that this indeed became a thing. Now modding GTA IV has far less boundaries than it used to have.

This is a very helpful tool. This opens the gate for added sounds without external patches. Good job :)

Ooh, trying to add more audio files but the hash won't save on my meta when i reference a new file i've added, both in the game with OpenIV and in the files tab. Has anybody figured this out?

Could you add the ability to edit speech.dat (.dat files) ? Overall, The program is the best and most genius i've ever seen for GTA IV!

Little update

I added new tool - IV Audio Editor. This is a console converter from IV Audio to text-based format like openFormats and vice versa. Besides sounds, tool saves additional files and timestamps. Use it just drag'n'drop files on exe file. After convert you'll get json file with .oaf extension.

Now you can create new audio banks and streams.

any chance to support x360 files? :D As there is one exclusive Tlad song only on x360 DLC (not in eflc disc), which was cut due to band stopping existing and so all rights to the song.

Whenever I drag my folder containing a .wav song into the IVAudioConv.exe, I just get a black screen that flickers "extracting" for 1 second then it closes without anything getting converted.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

It doesn't work because you need to create oaf file. Unpack any audio file to see how it looks.

Did you read description? Just drag gta 4 audio file to IVAudioConv.exe and you'll get oaf file

I dragged a song from LCHC onto IVAudioConv.exe and I got a .wav file.

I need to convert a .wav file into GTA IV audio file so I can add it to radio stations.

And yes, I read the description

So, after converting to wav, you can see oaf file. This file contains some data including song timestamps, you can edit it with Notepad.

After replacing wav with your song, drag oaf onto IVAudioConv.exe

Ignore the 1 and 2 bug, it was fixed when I restarted my pc. Access Violation still occurs sometimes.

And Speech Editor needs a fix because whenever you edit it and save then loading up the game, the game instantly crashes.

Can you add Mass Select and duplicate/delete feature for Meta editor and speech editor too?

Thanks for gifting these awesome tools to the community!

I'm having trouble getting the game to recognize my converted audio files on the radio. I've been testing replacing radio songs using the audio converter tool by replacing the 00_HIGHWAYSTAR_PH file in TLAD  with various tracks of my own because that's the song that always plays in the first mission of TLAD so it's easy to test.

When I take the original 00_HIGHWAYSTAR_PH file out of Open IV and drag it into the IV Audio Editor exe, it outputs an .OAF and a .WAV file. If I replace the WAV file with my own WAV that is the same length and bitrate as the original and then drag the .OAF back onto the IV Audio Editor it creates a new 00_HIGHWAYSTAR_PH file containing my new song that I can import back into the game files,  and it all looks good in Open IV. However when I load up the game, the radio will skip the song entirely and go to an ad block or another song. Any ideas why?

When I take the original 00_HIGHWAYSTAR_PH file and put it into IV Audio Editor, then immediately convert the OAF and WAV back into the 00_HIGHWAYSTAR_PH file and put that back in the game files, the game plays it fine. It only seems to be when I put my new WAV file in that the game doesn't recognise it.

EDIT: Nevermind, worked it out! Was because I was compressing my WAV files incorrectly. They've got to be Signed 16-bit PCM compression despite the OAF files saying the compression is "ADPCM".

I have another issue with the IV Audio Converter, it seems to be a bug. If I try to input a WAV file into the converter that is longer or shorter than the original length of the vanilla WAV file it's replacing, it causes a strange distortion in the last few seconds of the song in the Right Stereo track only (left track is completely fine). I have only tested this with radio songs, but it seems to happen at any frequency.

If you want to test it, extract any radio song file using OpenIV, run it through the IV Audio Converter to get a WAV and OAF, then either add 5 or so seconds of silence to the end of the WAV or trim 5 seconds off. When you then input this new WAV file into the Audio Converter with the same OAF to create the game file, if you then extract the WAV file out again you will notice the distortion in the last few seconds of the song in the right audio track.
