Is it EVER ok to use the Orbital Cannon?

I personally don't have one. Almost a million to buy, and then at least half a million to use each time. Simply not worth spending that to get one kill in my opinion. If it had some PvE mechanic to it, then I would consider getting it but otherwise, the only reason I would get it is to complete my facility. Then it would just gather dust.

So, does anyone use this thing in exceptional circumstances? I can see the appeal if you have some tryhard griefer attacking randoms and ruining the lobby, kind of like a last resort "I stab at thee!" kill, but then why waste that money on some sad loner who is killing people cos he has social issues?

Does anyone use the Orbital Cannon for its surveillance feature, which seems pointless to me?

Any funny stories? Please share!

Is this a hugh750 reborn?

I don't think it should ever have been introduced. There shouldn't be a kill button, regardless of the expense involved to use it.

If R* had done even basic testing they would have realised how such a feature could be exploited (DC glitch) and on that basis alone decided against it's implementation.

That said, as the horse has already bolted, I do use it to bounce around God mode users. They tend to get bored before I do in this instance.

Apologies, I do not know who that is? 🙃

Passive-abusing jet griefers with KDs above 5, because I know they'll cry. Half the time they self-boot 😂

Hahahaha! For that reason alone is temptation enough to get one! 😂

Completely agree. It's a crazy addition. The fact it has no counter is the worst thing. Like introducing another element to Rock Paper Scissors which beats everything... like fire... unless the opponent uses water balloon...

Its OK to use it whenever. I have yet to be hit by one (main cos' I spend half my life in IO sessions), but the fact remains (excluding modders), if someone with a sense of value purchased it, its because they wanted it and probably plan on using it every now and then. If an achievement hunter bought it, its because of the trophy. If a modder bought it, its just to have it and f*ck people about with.

I bought it thinking I could do Headhunter with it 🤦🏻‍♂️

I use it to find akula. I've only fired it once, utilizing my free Christmas shot to blow up a car meet. It would be viable if it weren't broken(see orbital cannon glitch)  and there weren't so many illegitimate funds floating around,  imo.

Interesting. Does the surveillance function of it find stealth mode Akulas then? Does it still show people who are off radar?

It does find stealth akula but won't detect ghosted organizations. I don't know if Lester's off radar players are visible.

Yellow Dog with Cone

Literally the worst addition on the game.

It literally has no other use aside from getting an instant kill on someone for a stupid price.

At least things like the Oppresors and the Deluxo are effective for PvE too.

This thing is utter bullsh*t.

But yeah, aside from trolling the odd God Mode troll with it, my Orbital Cannon gathers dust.

Yeah exactly. It's lack of PvE abilities is frustrating. Trolling god mode users would be it's best feature for me, but I never encounter them anyway.

I bought it for the purpose of killing griefers.  Haven't shot it once.   Now that I am flush with cash I may use it more, but once I was through the heists I am rarely at my facility.

If you ever need a single bit of proof that R* caters to glitchers and hackers then the Orbital Cannon is it.

How can any normal player justify the firing cost just to get a single kill, it is nothing more than R* monetising "Cheat Menus". You get destroyed by some scrublord in his "meme" vehicle and in frustration you buy the Orbital Cannon and think "i'l f*cking show you!" and then realise after you scored one kll that you wasted near two million on getting mad.

You know who has none of these issues? Money glitchers, hackers and Cheat Menu users. The people that R* is supposedly against. I'm sorry but its pretty obvious that R* endorses people using and doing these things because it influences the GTA Online market in a direction they want it to go. Which is people making impulse buys that they come to regret later.

Meh. Never fired mine once. Still got my free Christmas shot. To me, it's like admitting that I couldn't kill the player otherwise. That said, when someone resorts to using it on me, I feel like a god.

No you can not find off radar players.

I have been hit with the cannon no less than 20 times. Most of the time its from a player I have killed only 1 time and a few times by players I have not killed at all lol

OP..Most of the time they do not pay to use the cannon. Its broken and you can use it for free all day.

I've only used it twice; one for the PSN 'Orbital Obliteration' trophy, and the second being the free shot given to us at Christmas. Apart from that, I have no intentions of using it again, and neither should anybody else.

My personal rule is to only use it on God Modders since I'm not charged for it and there's no cool down, which means I can pester them enough until they leave on their own.

Out of this circunstance then it's usage is completely not needed for killing anyone, I would also say it's rather pathetic to use it.

I'll use it once in awhile with the dc glitch if someone is being a huge ass to either the lobby or my friends.  Kind of a, "I'm out, but f*ck you."

I have yet to go after supplies with it.  The only way I would do that is if my target intentionally killed my or a friends sale and was dumb enough to try a sale of their own.

I have one, and I've used it exactly twice.

Why did I buy it? Because I have poor impulse control and I didn't know how much it cost to fire the damn thing.

I used it the first time because R* gave me a free shot at Christmas.  The second time, my friend was badgering me constantly about it and wouldn't leave me alone until he saw me use it on someone...so I did. On him. Best $500,000 I ever spent.

I reserve its use solely for people who have pushed me beyond the breaking point, because I don't have that kind of cash in this game to just throw away. So rest assured, if I ever hit you with this thing, you have probably been antagonizing me for quite some time, and frankly you had it coming.

I own one because I like to own every property with all upgrades just for the sake of collecting them.  Have yet to bother to use it though I could afford to do so here and there if I cared.  Will do it eventually for the trophy.  Definitely the dumbest thing to ever be introduced, I wonder how many 10 year olds have thrown away real money for cash cards to use that?

A genuine contender for 'Worst Addition to the GTA Franchise' let alone this one game, lol. (Though, for me personally, research takes that honour, just).

As one that wanted all trophies, had to. But I didn't hamper no players, though having learned it's a good way to bounce god mode abusers around, though it is a waste of time to me, I can see that being a good laugh having them getting more and more pissed as they can't do anything in return. Just a shame it doesn't stop arseholes being arseholes.

But of course, it's all the players fault for using it. Nothing to do with R* creating it, long after damn near everything else in this game has been glitched/bugged/exploited at some points, no. It's us, obviously. /s

What bollocks. Really is one of those additions that took a little soul out of this game.

What baffles me is that they have always claimed that that they are against griefing. So they're against griefing, but also encourage it at the same time, demanding that you destroy cargo. Let's see...

- You get BS points for blowing up people's personal vehicles.

- There's literally a report button for griefing.

- Your mental state increases whenever you kill players.

- They added passive mode.

- They added a ghosting feature to prevent griefing.

Who the f*ck over there decided to ignore all of the above? I feel like this is NOT the same team that worked on GTA Online back in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Unless they've completely forgotten about the above and all the shark card money got to their heads.

It seems to that they are fine with griefing so as long as you're willing to pay large sums of money for it. Anything to generate fish card sales.
