can i back up my online stuff, characters, progress, etc?

Lately i've been observing a lot of errors loading GTA and been getting stuck on the loading screens and having to restart the game and I'm starting to get nervous... today i had to do that and i got errors loading online like 5 times before it worked. I've gone to the upload/download save data (?) option and uploaded my latest game save, and profile files i saw there but idk exactly what those files contain. i've also cleared the gta cache, yet these issues are getting more common...

 

so basically is there any option or way to make any kind of back-up of my online characters, money, stats, progress, and so forth so if I ever were to experience any corruption with my online i can restore it even if back to this point???

 

idk if that's even possible or not... any ideas?

You are lucky if you are only beginning to see these types of errors. Many of us have been dealing with them for years.

I do not think there is any way to save your progress. All progress is saved on R cloud servers I believe, which means your progress is automatically saved for you.  You could delete the entire game from your pc/console and your online progress will still be there. One thing you can do is make a video of all your stats and progress just in case anything ever does happen you have some kind of proof to show R.

Other than the first month of gtao I cant really recall anyone just losing their characters. If it ever happens Im sure you will not be the only one. There have been plenty of occasions where the servers went down and players may have lost progress for that day but I think thats about it.

Sadly no there is no way to back up your online progress everything is saved to R* servers instead of our consoles, You're lucky all you're getting is errors back when the game first launched in Oct 2013 some of us lost several toons over several week periods.

 

I had ranked up one toon to almost level 60 with a mid-level 10 garage apartment and a few decent vehicles and went through ALL of the Criminal Records race swaps to unlock vehicle mods ONLY to lose my character for the THIRD time luckly it was the last time.

 

What I have gotten the habit of doing is every 30 minutes or so I force a game save such as an outfit change or something like that so if something would happen to say 15 minutes later I wouldn't lose the last 45 minutes of progress I just made it's better to lose the last 15 minutes and $10,000 than the last 45 minutes and $100,000.

 

Doing simple things such as changing your outfit, putting on sunglasses or helmet to even swapping out PV will force the game to save itself and if you do ever find yourself in the "Can't Save Error" DO NOT LEAVE YOUR SESSION NO MATTER WHAT!!! The game servers will eventually come back online it make take upwards to 30 minutes but just stay in the lobby and go about your routine playing just  don't do any jobs which entail leaving the session as the game can't save meaning any progress you made while getting the "Can't Save Error" is gone.
