bobdude100
My luck my PS4 will die just before the release of RDR 2 (have had it since PS4 release). Who else is doing the same? I have no reason to really turn it on. Last game I bought for it was Far Cry 5 beat that last month. Been just using my old PS3 for RDR when I feel like gaming and Netflix Dr.Rosenthal, Cutter De Blanc and CrimsonFolo
Der Süden
This is my 2nd PS4 which is about 18 months old. But even if it was 5 years old I would not keep it turned off because Netflix and I need to reset structure timers and feed my dinos in Ark Survival Evolved once a week. Rockstar Vienna
Could happen to you with a turned off PS4 too. I once had a TV that has not been used for 3 weeks (long vacation). Turned it on on my first day back home and boom... There's nothing you can do If a device decides to say goodbye. But I guess it would make sense if you disconnect the PS4 from the power outlet. Then there's not much that could harm your precious PlayStation of course (only your pet or an angry girlfriend maybe :P). Hope my PS4 will make it through this Fall. If not I have at least a reason to upgrade to a Pro I guess.
*Lola
I'm getting this if my ps4 quits working before RDR2. Edited September 16, 2018 by *Lola
Mach1bud
It's actually better for it if you use it a bit. Much like anything else that is mechanical or electrical, not using it at all can be worse for it than overusing it. Good luck, that's the 500 Million Limited Edition, which was limited to 50,000 units and is already going for $900+ for a brand new one. Unless you just meant a regular PS4 Pro, in which case... yes. Do that lol.
Totallycasual
See, this is why i always have a robust savings account, if my console, PC, fridge, washing machine or even car needs repairs/replacing i can afford to do it on the spot with no credit cards or loans. Good habit to get into in life A lot of people i game with always say things like "I want to buy X game or w/e but i need to wait until payday", what they hell would you do if a loved one died interstate or something, how would you fly in for the funeral and pay for hotels and car rental? Dr.Rosenthal
@Lethal-lock I agree that it’s a good strategy in life, but let’s not forget that everyone might not have the luxury of being able to put money away. And of course, then there’s those who spend every last dime to begin from 0 again each month. But yeah, putting a % of the paycheck into a savings account as soon as you get them is a good idea. Anyway! I’d also recommend OP to fire it up once in a while, as that is only good for the machine. This summer was insanely warm where I live, and my PS4 sounded like a vacuum cleaner when it was running. I decided to open it up completely and clean it out of dust (there was a LOT - half the cooling aggregate was thick with it so no air could get through). I wouldn’t recommend anyone to do just that 1 month prior to the release of RDR2 though. But I’m sure it’ll lengthen its life considerably. bobdude100
Well its not something I'm doing because I dont have money, I do very well for myself. Its more of a habit/tradition, for GTA IV I didnt touch my Xbox 360 for 3 months before release. RDR same thing for my Xbox 360 months without it on, but for GTA V I turned my PS3 on a few days before release to play something, and all was fine. The afternoon of release day got home from town, went to fire up the PS3 the disc slot wouldnt eject the other game disc. It's roughly a 2 hour drive for me to the closest town with a store that sells any kind of video game stuff. But luckily my neighbor let me borrow his PS3 for a week, and then after the first playthrough i repaired mine.
SAS_Intruder
I stopped using my PS4 for different reasons, lack of good games to play. Maybe I am getting older and less interested in games or maybe new games are really not that good, who knows. But I am at the point where RDR2 is last hope for me and my gaming "career ". Pretty sure Rockstar won't disappoint me. As for other games, there is nothing out there for me. I don't know how to play FPS on console, not interested in fantasy games, sports games are lame because of their publishers. I gave up on Ubisoft, this year because of NHL I gave up on EA as well. My only hope are small studios or Rockstar. Mafia 3 was very good from immersion prospective but didn't offer much replay value. I whish Rockstar would get Dirty Harry movie series rights and make open game based on movies. But that is just my wishful thinking.
