yea you can get the geforce 4 mx440 in 128 mb. I found it on this site:

www.eclipse-computers.com

The 128mb SDRam version is about £40.

The 64mb SDRam version is about £30.

And i still cant decide what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So it is both. I also believe that the Ti4200 may have a 64mb model. I'm going to stick with my mx420 for now. I may get a new ATI when my card is too outdated.

Quick question:

I have a 1066 megahertz AMD Athlon Processor, Will this work? I'm going for the recommended system requirements.

I'm beefing up my system, on a budget, And I want to know if I have to get a new processor too. If I must, then i'll probably get a used Geforce4 Ti 4200 128 MB for $85 from a friend, If not, then i'm gonna spend the extra $55 for a GeForce FX 5200. Also, I found a GeForce FX 5200 on pricewatch for less than the geforce4 TI 4200, but I read that the FX is 30% faster than the Ti... any suggestions on why that would be?

Here's the official system requirements for VC

http://www.take2games.com/index.p....support

As you can see, your processor is just above the minimum requirement of 800 Mhz.  Personally, I'd reccomend that you upgrade your processor and buy the Ti 4200 from your friend.  From what I've read, the FX 5200 Ultra is likely to be slower than the Ti 4200.  The only real advantage that the 5200 has is full DX 9 support, however, when true DX 9 games start to arrive later this year, I doubt the 5200 will perform well with them.

EDIT:  Where did you read that the 5200 is faster than the Ti 4200?

Heh I think the 5200 will be slower than the TI4200 also. It's only $89 on www.pricewatch.com and that's cheaper than a Voodoo5, which is $107 on the same site.

A Geforce2 MX might work with VC, but I wouldn't count on getting very steady framerates though.  If you want to upgrade on a budget, I'd reccomend one of the following:

Geforce4 Ti 4200 128MB

Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB

Radeon 9200 (not out yet)

You can find these cards in the $80 to $150 USD price range depending on where you look.

I reccomend that you stay away from the Geforce4 MX series though.  These are really just retooled Geforce2 cards that shouldn't be called Geforce4's IMO.
