does any one know if the game is more computer friendly,, so we don't have the problem of downloading loads of other crap just so we can get the game to work.. :sneaky:

:O  Ooohhhhhhhh.......VC uses DX9!?!   Im not bragging or anything, but it's obvious that my Radeon 9700 Pro (which we all know is a true Dx 9 card) is gonna LOVE owning that game.

Could this possibly mean that VC can and might utilize some of the special features of Dx9 to enhance special effects and such??? If so...SWEET  :inlove:

Phew - I make the recommended specs. 64mb video card is a bloody lot though - the game better look Amazing.

Sensory - pity -cause the pc version will have so much more -edoitors,  all the mods + new cars etc!!! :)

Maybe multiplayer too - even if R* don't add it.

*shrug* i don't care about the modding, because most of the

mods that were brought out were never up to r* standards

anyway, no matter how hard they tried. it was nice to mess

about with txd's etc. just to get a car into the game, then

find out it's not as good as the original. and it was also

wonderful when i was clogging up my system with backup's of

the original files, just in case someone decided to be funny

and corrupt a certain file with their new mod. and.. i wouldn't

hold my breath for multiplayer. i tried playing a multiplayer

game of gta2 once, and it was so unbelievably slow. they'd

have to take their multiplayer engine into the workshop before

attempting that.

i may buy the pc version though.. that is if i can tear myself

away from splinter cell and def jam vendetta. :pp

Damn! I'm so f*cked. I guess I'll have to upgrade my system... hmm, so be it. My current system doesn't even make the minimum specs :O

Well, I'll upgrade to a AMD Thoroughbred XP 1800+, with 256 MB DDR (PC2700) RAM, GeForce4 MX400, and what else i get to think off  :)

I just hope VC doesn't have compatibility problems with Win XP, like the textures missing when frame limiter is off and stuff like that.

most of the mods arent up to R* standards..

Ok, the artists at R* are professional 3d artists, they get paid to sit in the office and make models all day long for gta.

Secondly, we do it in our free time, for no pay. And i would say many of the mods here surpass R*'s in quality. We dont  have any guidlines to follow when making our mods, like keeping the texure size, or number of poly's under a certain amount (well, maybe about 15k, but its better than R*'s 3000k poly limit)

staying on-topic, yay, my pc SHOULD run it!

*slaps video card*

f*cking geforce 4 mx420, you best work for it.

luckily im already running DX9...

i really couldn't care less if they got paid or not. what i'm

saying is that 95% of the mods aren't up to r*'s standards,

and that bugs me, because modding for me would be

pointless, so i may as well stick with my ps2 version, and not

bother buying the pc version.

and just so it's clear for the weak-at-mind here, that's my

own, personal opinion. i'm positive there are people out there

that think differently, and that's just fine by me.

read my post before you try and make some sort of a point, please.

My PC would explode if I tried to run that game. Killing me and everyone within a 3 mile radius (my computer is not electric , it runs on nuclear fission).  :colgate:

I have 450MhZ.

@ Mini-gun: Well if your comp is Nuclear Fission then i guess it wouldn't hurt to have one of those Nuclear Reactor coolers on it and maybe a touch of Liquid Nitrogen and get the cpu temp down to -500 degrees Celsius and then overclock it to 20ghz.....Hmmm that sounds like a good idea eh?

It surely will be sweet for a card like radeon 9700. Maybe I should get one to replace the gf3. They will probably go cheaper when the 9800 comes out hopefully.

The gf3 still runs gta3 pretty nicely :/.

Isn't the 9800 Pro out already? Of course, with the R400 due later this year, why would anybody get a 9800 Pro? Sure its a good card, but I wouldn't get much performance increase from it. So I'm waiting until the R400 comes out to get it

When you are about to buy the next card they will probably announce a new better card that they will start making. It's an endless circle.

About ATi's R400, I read rumors recently that say ATi won't be releaing the "original" R400 this year.  What I mean is, ATi might release a chip called R400 this year, but supposedly, it won't be anything too impressive i.e. as in double the performance of R300 as expected.  Here's an article for more info about this:

http://www.beyond3d.com/#news4986

As for Nvidia, their NV35 is expected to be announced in May.  The NV35 is expected to be faster than the 9800 Pro and 1.5 times faster than the Geforce FX 5800 Ultra (NV30)/  More info here.  I've also heard that ATi will release a 9900 Pro to keep up with the NV35.

My advice is that you steer clear of the Geforce MX series altogether.  If you want a good low-end card, I reccomend a Radeon 9000 Pro 128 MB, which is about the same cost of an MX.  A step up from that, I reccomend a Geforce4 Ti 4200 128 MB, which you can find for not much more than the Radeon 9000 Pro is some places.

Oh yeah, VC will require DX 9, but I'm 99.9% sure it won't be taking any advantage of the DX 9 features such as pixel shader 2.0, floating point data formats, etc.  afterall, VC's engine is just an enhanced version of GTA 3's renderware engine.  I think most games being released now require DX 9 to run but it's gonna be at least another 6 months before developers start using the new features, but when they do...*drools*

Thanks for the advice Xcommunicated, i have looked for the cards that you have recommended. My only problem is that my motherboard only supports graphics cards with SDRam, and i cant find any of the cards you mentioned that support SDRam.

So my only choices are to stick with my 64mb Geforce2 mx400, upgrade to the 128mb SDRam geforce4 mx440, or get a new motherboard (which i dont want to do) :(    :(

I dont believe the mx440 is 128mb. I Think you have to upgrade to the Ti4200.

My PC should run it

2 ghz P4

512 DDR SDRAM

64 mb GeForce mx420

I cant begin to guess what kind of mobo i have.

Question:

I have an old 500 mhz celeron, 192 DIMM Ram, 16 mb Rage Card, 15gb hard drive, 4x/4x/24x CD-RW and 4x DVD

What should I upgrade? I may get a 64mb geforce mx400 for $30. Any help is appreciated

I doubt you should rush to get a new one until it's atleast two generations old. I have gf3 now and I thought about updating now that the nvidia FX comes out.

It has alway been hard to have the newest hardware under ur hood  :sly: .
