google the following: CYBERPUNK DELAY and check the dates

why would you think they would delay it and kill off most hype, it obviously doesnt benefit them

are they trying to make the game any better or just having fun f*cking around not earning any money?

probably the second one  by your logic

Well, delaying the Witcher 3 twice didn't help. Hopefully you're right and they've learned on their mistakes.

Nope.

Cyberpunk 2077 is in first person with a created character instead of Geralt of Rivia. It will be a completely different experience than The Witcher 3.

Witcher 3 won GOTY in 2015 and is considered by many to be one of the best games of it's generation... Technical issues? Everytime R* releases an update for GTA Online it screws up some form of the singleplayer part of the game be it driving or car damage or whatever. Red Dead Redemption 2's graphics have been downgraded with every patch.

Not to mention it has two story DLCs, big enough to be their own games.........something that doesn't exist for Rockstar anymore.

It's way different than Witcher 3. By the way, I don't think, that Cyberpunk will be able to compete with next GTA when it comes to open world. CDPR doesn't have resources for this, not to mention huge technology leap.

GTA V might get Vulkan support next year. Its disappointing that Vulkan support is not listed of Cyberpunk 2077.

Modern day CD Projekt open world game can only compete with gta series.

I just want the game to work properly from the start, that's all. That's something I never had problems with in any Rockstar game and had plenty of with The Witcher(both 2 and 3). What do all those accolades you mentioned have to do with anything? I know the game is great.

they have delayed CB more than twice

witcher 3 was better than expected and worth the wait, and CD projekt red doesnt just delay and wait til the date, they give new information, artworks and footage for the GAMEPLAY.

I believe Cyberpunk 2077 will be a great game but will it still be relevant by the time GTA VI releases(2023/24)? I'm not sure about that.

Comparing GTA and Cyberpunk on a superficial level is fine, sure they're open world games, they have guns and cars but they're not at all similar games. Rockstar doesn't make RPGs, (although imo Red Dead 2 was a role playing game in its strictest definition as we could only influence Arthur's personality and carry out his day to day activities) Cyberpunk is a fully fledged RPG with player created protagonist, branching narrative with stats, build variety etc.

Nobody knows if the story and tone will be noirish like Blade Runner, Neuromancer or more flashy, punkish like Akira, Snow Crash. CDPR did say they're leaning more into the punk aspects of the genre but we'll see when we get to finally play the game. Personally I believe anyone wanting a Blade Runner gane would be disappointed. One of the previewers already said it's like Deus Ex on acid.

And regarding the open world, we have yet to see the broader systems like RDR2s pedestrian dialogue system or freeform hunting. All the gameplay shown thus far are just quests and different types of combat approaches. Stealth is very hard to get right at this scale and also it's CDPRs first FP game so I'm skeptical. It's giving me The Witcher 3 vibes where the actual open world was cookie cutter Ubisoft world but the game shined in the quests and dialogue variety. But the actual open world seemed quite dull compared to the 2018 E3 gameplay similar to TW3, and the latest demo was running on a beastly PC, so low population, vehicle density is concerning.

I guess more apt comparison with CP is Deus Ex, System Shock, Prey or Fallout : New Vegas. It has very little similarities with GTA imo.

Is it? I don't see many people playing it or talking about it anymore. I meant as popular/relevant as GTA Online, for example.

Well, people have been hyped for it since the first teaser back in 2013.

People talked about it since then yes but it only built up such extreme hype after the success of Witcher 3. People still compare it to RDR2 even to this day so I would say that its quite relevant. Especially since Netflix launched the Witcher series as well. (Source)

The Witcher 3 was that good it caused Netflix to invest in a show using the same material as a basis and that shows stars Henry f*cking Cavill, not to mention things like the switch port getting a large amount of interest for its technical achievement (something Rockstar used to do).

The Witcher 3 was a great game but regarding the show, I think it has more to do with the success of Game of Thrones. It might be a coincidence but look at the time The Witcher launched in Netflix, just months after GoT ended.

I believe Netflix wants it to be the next big fantasy series just like Amazon with Lord of the Rings. Henry Cavill might be a big fan of the game series, but it's actually an adaptation of the books.

Which they decided to do after the success of The Witcher 3, they negotiated the deal based on the popularity of the series which was then at an all time high after the games.

Where did you think it got all that popularity from though? Hardly many read the Witcher books but it got that boost from The Witcher 3.

Nope. After that first teaser they went completely silent for like 5 years. Think about that for a second

You only get the first teaser and then 5 years later they tweet this.

I'm not flat out denying that Witcher 3 didn't have any influence on Netflix's decision for making The Witcher precisely but the timing leads me to think that GoT fueled NF's decision more than the game itself. The game made the IP undeniably more popular but for the fantasy genre at large GoT's success did more, in the TV scene precisely. Look at Carnival Row, almost a GoT knockoff just without the charm of it. Amazon is coming with LotR. Everybody wants the next big fantasy crown from GoT.

I was actually one of the people who read at least a few Witcher books before The Witcher 3's incredible success and I agree completely about it's influence popularising the IP but still I think it has more to do with GoT especially in the TV scene.

It will. CDPR said that they are planning to release a multiplayer mode a few years after release after 2021. They are also going to release Big DLCs similar to the Witcher 3's DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 for FREE. This is CDPR saying I'm here! We have arrived! This is our coming out party. Not only are we going to release a popular game but we are now in the power position. We have come out of the shadows and into the spotlight. They aren't going to monetize their game are looking at whether or not to add microtransactions and plan on people playing it for years with single player expansions and multiplayer.

But it already goes against that other guys point that GTA Online has been more influential on people compared to The Witcher.

How could one even suggest that such a game would be a direct competitor to any Grand Theft Auto game?

It's for people who like futuristic crap, so... I guess it's a competitor to Grand Theft Auto: Online?

Also, Watch Dogs is amazing, especially when it comes to the open world and pedestrians.
