Robbing all the gas stations and convenience stores and trying to outrun the cops to raise that measly $25,000 for my first two car garage to store my crappy car that Simone gave me

That's spooky, OP.  For some reason on my commute today, I thought back to 2013 and remembered my first PV was the bog standard Mesa in black.  At the time, it felt like the most military-themed vehicle there was to own as a PV haha!

My go to was non-stop Contact Missions!

Hopping in the passenger seat of a space docker that someone glitched into their garage, launching a contact mission and stashing that bad boy in my own garage among the taco van, ambulance and cop cars. Good times.

After many attempts to even get online, my first session consisted of me getting savagely destroyed by some dude in a buzzard. This guy was mowing me down with the machine guns with precision and if it wasn't the mini guns then I'd hear the hiss of an incoming missile and boom WASTED. That was my first time ever playing any game online and I was literally getting destroyed unmercifully and for no reason at all. I wasn't mad at all as I was expecting to get lit up in the beginning. I was just shocked more than anything at the devastation and I seriously wondered if it was always going to be like that.

Yeah, I had a similar experience at LSIA, all I could do was admire his skills. Up to then, I thought I was a reasonably good heli pilot :)

I remember how hurt I was after being filthy rich in story mode then going back to being broke online. In my first spawn I was hit by another player in a car in like the first 10 seconds. That was considered griefing I guess. I remember thinking that the Adder would be impossible to get at $1 million. Once I finally got it, I thought I was done with the game and nearly sold GTA, boy was I wrong.

The joys of getting into a session (after a few disconnections!), doing all the tutorial stuff, having an explore, finding my first Dominator and respraying it to my liking, taking a quick inaugural selfie...

...and then firing the game up a day later, only to find R*'s cloud issues had wiped everything, so I had to do the whole smegging lot all over again. :sui:

Followed that up with getting myself a cheap warehouse garage (Dry Dock Street - still have it!), putting my new starter Premier in there, then adding an Elegy (new daily driver!), Bati 801, Ruiner and Futo - then swapping all of that over to Alta Street (which I also still have, as safehouse #1) along with a brand-new Vacca, which I bought with the $500k "stimulus" money.

I remember it like it was yesterday, just sitting there waiting for hours to be dropped from the clouds into a session. Wait, that was yesterday...

SmokesWithCigs

I remember stealing other players cars whenever i got pissed because somebody killed me for no reason. Then I would drive to vespucci  each at full speed and jump out of the car and watch it roll into the ocean. This was before people figured. Out how to kick unwanted players out if their car. I remember hearing through my headphones "this guys an asshole."  I remember my first garage in del Pedro which I lived in for a month before I bought my first low rent appartment. I remember my first car a sheister which I painted in crew colors white and red.

1st spawned near a store and about 6-8 ppl were fighting for a street car. after that I did contact missions/death matches/races enough to unlock good weapons and max stat.

ah the great payouts and working for that unlock. miss it.

Pistol Bobcat

North Yankton! 😆

Before December 2013, a little later, I didn't even have a PSN and hadn't played online before, but when news spread like a Ludendorff snowstorm that someone found (without even trying) that loading gta online via the Prologue brings the map to the game, I just HAD to go to the trouble of making an account, creating a mutant character  (the creator on last gen was awful and required effort to make something that didn't look like a vandalised wax figurine that fell in the tanning salon) and enduring the unskippable tutorial with Lamar just to find the time and place to try this Glitch. It was the the 'Travel to Liberty City in San andreas interior universe' craze all over again 😂

After enjoying the glitch a few times tough, I slowly found myself taking an interest in the core of the game at the time, simple yet addictive . Survivals were one of the most rewarding thing back then, and classic contact missions, and of course, trolling.

As a low level I would find a cargobob, airlift parked rhinos out of fort zancudo to go on a rampage, you name it. It was more about the little things back when the game started. 😛

Do we have a record for who bought the first (legit) adder and turned it into chromed out coffin?

i dont think a legit millionaire existed back then hahaha

the game was exploited for money from day 1!

i remember there was a relatively short lester mission, you drove a customized yellow dominator in the mission and you would spawn in freeroam in that car once the mission was done, in the first few days R* released a patch to prevent players from selling mission vehicles because people would do the mission, then go to lsc and sell the vehicle for like 50k 😂, there was no daily limit back then, so you could do the mission over and over again.

in todays terms, 50k is nothing, but back then getting 50k every 4-5mins that was some good money!

the game have been full of shenanigans since day 1 haha

Arrows to Athens

As far as servers go, it does seem like it's 2013 all over again. Never in my life have I seen so many error messages, joining issues, and stuck in the clouds nonsense.

naa 5k was in storymode, in gtao the top was 2k, it was a outrageous amout back then...

now we happily blow up people paying 20k fees and shoot 750k orbital cannon shots without thinking twice 🤣

its moments like this that make you realize how the game has changed over the years. its crazy!

at the time it was necessary, but with what we have today, it makes no sense to keep it nerf.

they should buff it!

That reminds me....

My whole garage was full of "illegal vehicles"

I had all the Police Cars, Ambulance, Fire Truck, Lazer, Space Docker you name it I had it then R* decided we were having too much fun

Nah, I was one of those who actually make my first million the legit way....

Then some asshat gifted me a billion dollars screwing up all my stats....

This was a month or so before the DNS Servers and the Billionaire Days of Christmas happened.

Spam replaying Madrazo's level 20ish DA mission to save up for first apartment.

Mine was Rooftop Rumble for my first decent car which I am now ashamed to admit was the Adder but at least I didn't Chrome it out

_____

Doing my very first car dupe glitch....

You took your car to LSC and sold it but before you spawned into the street you would pause the game select Switch Character and then would re-select your character where you could spawn outside LSC with the car you just sold....

But it took quite a few times selling a $20,000 car to make a decent amount

Before anybody ask....The posted video is from October 2013 so no it doesn't work now....

Interested to hear from everyone...

Rooftop rumble, LS connection and Grand tour of course! With the sides like survivals mainly proccesed (cause it's the easiest lol)

hopefully grand tour will be back with a new mode consists of 5 or more races

Turkey Shenanigans

The disastrous launch of Online. Making a character with that old grandparents/lifestyle system only to have to remake it over and over again until I finally got in a session and online worked. The 'Mall or Nothing' tutorial race. First PV was a white Schafter that I used in that.

Then when I finally go into freeroam, screwing around with some friends, running people over, doing the Gerald/Simeon missions, the races, holding up convenience stores, and finally buying my first property; that shi*ty 2 car apartment in Little Seoul. Then after that I bought the 10 car garage in La Mesa and filled it up with old sports classics and muscle cars. Ah, those were the days :)

Violent duct for 9k with a replay button

Set prices for contact missions, instead of this less money for less time sh*t

Rooftop rumble before it was blessed with terminators and runaway objectives. Still wasn't on a roof though

Coveted is where I learned to snipe. Also used to be different (easier, fixed payout)

The good old days

Ignoring GTA V's Online mode for 3 years.

2 years here. My 360 had a disease *coughJTAGcough* so no online there. Then upgraded my PC by late 2015 and GTA V was instant purchase. Getting into GTAO was the logical outcome of that.

Struggling to get online to play.

The first race and tutorial followed by being greifed by players while trying to get to the clothing store - seriously I must have been killed by other players at least 100 times on the first day. Finding a decent street car to take to LSC only to be killed more. Finally got the car sorted, clothing sorted, grabbed my free garage and hit some missions...

Lost that character after 30ish ranks and a bunch of cash...

Grinded Violent Duct over and over and over to earn money, robbed stores, picked up anything any NPC dropped. Saved for months to buy an Adder then found the whole in game economy was f*cked due to duping cars and glitched money - awesome.

Not forgetting literally spending days looking for a Sabre Turbo. Eventually found one and stored it. A few weeks/months later that bitch had been made popular on the streets. Same for the Nemisis, Sultan and various other "rare" cars that they made less rare.
