ZacCoxTV
Here's a blast from the past for ya'. Do any of y'all remember when True Crime: Streets of LA took a shot at Rockstar Games? I'm pretty sure it's a response to that side mission in Vice City called "Autocide" where you have to take out European bank robbers whose names are all parodies of the protagonists of TC: LA & NY and Driver. https://imgur.com/a/j2mtvUF I'm not sure how to post the picture outside of the link if anyone would like to do so. Thank you, good day. Edited August 28, 2018 by ZacCoxTV Mister Pink
Mister Pink
Haha, good one! Of course, they hit back with this in San Andreas a year later.. I prefer GTA IV over Saints Row 2 by a whole hell of a lot... but I do admit they got them good in this one. I bet Rockstar were actually just sitting there look at each other in the room, nodding their heads. "Yep, they got us there, lads." One is trying to squeeze every last drop out of the Online cash cow, and there's no indication that they'll ever stop this behavior when future titles come around - the other is in video game limbo and a lot of the talent that made those games great has left Volition. god speed
In GTA IV I indeed preferred spraying people with the firetruck waterhose over bowling, pushing people down the stairs and off ledges over going to the cabaret, and vigilante missions over watching in-game TV. SR2 was a decent game, but I still enjoyed GTA IV more despite some missing features. Cards. That’s all there is to it. They’re not making “free” online dlc five years after the initial release out of the goodness of their hearts. Every fiscal report or press conference I can remember reading about, Strauss Zelnick was there, giddily announcing that GTA V and GTA Online were the biggest winners in digitally delivered net revenue. Why do you think GTA:O has consistently been named one of T2’s biggest earners? People are impatient sh*ts, they’ll just buy all the new dlc crap with real money. Here’s this year’s financial press release, feel free to lookup previous ones but they all pretty much say the same thing. http://ir.take2games.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=86428&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=2349458 Edited September 5, 2018 by Edward Nashton Mister Pink

SR2 was alright, but to me atleast it was always one of those games that was just something to screw around with if I was I really bored. I don't even remember finishing it honestly because its story was just the same copy & paste story from the first game just with different gangs and once the honeymoon period wore off it started collecting dust. GTA IV's stood the test of time better. god speed

GTA IV's stood the test of time better. I wholeheartedly agree, though I did finish the storyline. The three enemy gangs plus one final faction to fight against was formulaic, even if I didn't play the first SR. (Apparently the map was also copypasted and built on, though not as blatantly as between SR3 and SR4.) I actually saw more similarities with the storylines of San Andreas and IV, the "freelancering" and working for diverse employers made the stories special for me, though I also liked working for the Grove Street homies. My favorite thing to do in a GTA game is to first explore the map, then play through the story missions without interruptions. In SR2 I didn't like how I was forced to grind respect from activities to unlock missions, that was even worse than unlocking islands in earlier GTA games. Also the infinite ammo (as a reward from activities) and regenerating health made missions too easy IMO. Finally, even though the GTA IV PC port was awful, SR2 was even worse. The "Gentlemen of the Row" mod is a necessity to actually make the game playable. And if I were to include mods, I actually found even screwing around more fun in GTA IV when the base game mechanics were more polished and mods added more fun on top of it. But that's just my personal experience. Edited September 6, 2018 by perennial Algonquin Assassin

I love sharing cool throwback Easter Eggs and "lesser" known secrets. These older games really were true gems when it comes to the things hidden within them. Femme Fatale
We should just make an easter egg appreciation thread instead of a thread for each one. On the subject of the ol' IV vs SR2 catfight, IV reigns supreme. What I love most about IV(apart from the obvious) is that R* hit the nail on the head with the metal station(or segment since the station is shared with hardcore punk). Just look at SR2's so-called "metal station". Avenged Sevenfold? Really?! Lmao. Algonquin Assassin

Quite a specific thing to mention but gotta agree. Also the "Generation X" station played millennial emo bands, ew. SR2 had no talk radio station either (even though SR1 did), and no custom radio for own music from the hard drive (included in GTA games since GTA III on PC). Anyway, a general thread focusing on easter eggs would be cool.
