Best sportscar that is not a Pariah

So, I'm still browsing around for a competitive sportscar and I've already been informed the Pariah is the go-to car, but I'm not a fan yet as far as looks go.

One could argue that looks don't count for much towards prize money, but I'm just a vain bastard.

In testdriving stock cars I've also found that the Comet Retro Custom outguns the Pariah considerably (I am aware that the Pariah improves ridiculously with upgrades, but that much?), so this begs the question: Why am I never seeing this car in races? What's the catch?

Also, what options are there for proper sportscars? Assuming that money is not an issue (which I suspect is the reason for the lack of Comets) and it's not a Pariah.

Driving the stock versions does not give a good indication of how they perform when fully modded.

The Comet Retro isn't even in the ballpark, way too slow.

Comet SR and Elegy are generally regarded as the best choices. Some will say Feltzer and a few other cars that are ok too.

Without any upgrade aplied the Pariah is just an average sportscar, nothing special. But the final engine upgrade instead of giving it a normal "horsepower" increase, give it like a 400% increase, which makes it way faster than it would be if the upgrades worked as most of the cars. Other vehicle that improve a lot (not in the same pace) when upgraded is the Deluxo.

But if you are looking for a car that is not a pariah to race with, you second to go car is the Comet SR. This car would break the class if the pariah wasnt in there (proving how op it is, it outruns the car which would be the number one). And if you dont like the SR, i recomend you the Feltzer.

The Elegy-Elegy, or the Retro Custom Benny variant? Because I am toying with that idea.

I've been in a few Feltzers and I thought I was playing Watch_dogs, it's so slidey.

It is good to see the Comet SR gets mentioned twice, as it was my second choice. I'm not sure if i should keep my original Comet around though. Visually there's not much of a change anyway...

The regular Elegy.

Also, the Feltzer isn't a slidey car, it's like very grippy. It's traction is literally it's strength lol.

The Comet SR is far more planted than the standard Comet. You'd be hard pressed to beat an Elegy in a standard Comet, but shouldn't be too difficultin the SR. That is assuming drivers in both vehicles are of equal skill.

Granted, it's been a long time since I've driven an upgraded Feltzer. I suppose it couldn't hurt giving it another whirl sometime.

Hell, I'm hard pressed to get the damn thing going anywhere with the wheelspin the way it is, especially when trying to get away in an angle. I just tried pulling away real quick after destroying a developer's car and it just swooped around and looked at me, mocking me.

I'm also hard pressed to remember why I bought it in the first place. I'm guessing it's "I WANT PORSH! PORSH NOW!"

All kidding aside, it kinda sucks that racing is now basically one formula. It's That Specific Car or watching the ass of everyone in That Specific Car. Despite all the models, the choice seems kinda limited if you wanna matter in a race.

The Schafter V12 holds its own against the Elgey & the Feltzer. I don't know it stacks up against the SR though.

The Schafter V12 also have the advantage of being admissable in Sedan races as well, in case you ever find one.

My buddy drives the V12 and informs me it's a little heavy at some times and ironically, I suppose, the thing is so fast he overshoots some checkpoints in stunt races. Go figure.

As far as sedans go, I'm up to my eyeballs in them, for some reason. I've been on a "normal" looking car kick lately. Plus, you can just pick them up on the streets, for free!

Damnit. I keep thinking about maybe just getting the Pariah, but I don't want it, but maybe I should, but I don't wanna. Somebody feel bad for my first world problems here!

Comet Retro is THE BEAST when it comes to long straights with uphill and downhill parts. Might be a pc-thing though, no idea if it works the same way on consoles.

Flash GT for offroad tracks.

Other must owns for various reasons:

Jester

Feltzer

9f

Revolter

Neon or Raiden

Seven 70

Massacro

Sentinel

Tropos

Sultan

Kuruma

Futo

It's literally faster than a ZENTORNO on any track.

Absolutely nothing comes close to be competitive with it, it's so broken it can even outrun a Schafter V12 in top speed runs.

That's how much it improves.

Second best in the class is the Comet SR, that thing is planted to the ground, lovely.

But as it stands, Pariah is the absolute king(and in my opinion it's the only car that deserves to have the handling flags).

Comet SR, Elegy, Elegy Retro Custom, Jester RC, Neon, Revolter (in races with lots of tubes) is the cars I would recommend after Pariah

Another vote for the Schafter V12, although the Pariah is so OP it can be a struggle these days.

Most players can't drive for sh*t though.

Hold on what? Zentorno is still up there? I assumed being one of the first cars to come out it got outclassed years ago.

Eh not really, but the thing is that the Zentorno blows the doors off all sports cars in a track...Except the Pariah.

The V12 was what I used before the Pariah and it was a force.

It drives and sounds so perfect, can only dream to have such performance on SR. For me Massacro drives like real 911 GT2.

For Stunt races the Zentorno is still the best budget competitive choice. Sure, lots of cars have it outright out gunned these days, but they also cost much more. And Driving skill in stunt races serves as a great equalizer that keeps the old girl competitive and still capable of wins and podiums, since half the players driving the new cars can't seem to keep them from falling off the track

I have no clue as to what a handling flag is. Is that a PC thing? If not, is it something I have any control over?

I tried googling it, but all I get is posts of people complaining about it.

Something which I'm counting on when I go out and race, but not something I'm considering in this particular thread. For now I'm assuming I'll be up against drivers of equal skill (though in practice it seems my age is starting to show) so it comes down to purely the machines.

Fair point though.

The Zentorno is a dream to drive. It solves most of your screw ups for you. It may not be the fastest (I'm guessing), but handling counts for something too and it's got lots of that.

My other character owns one and he's not looking to buy a new car. ;o)

I don't suppose the liveries come off, huh? I hate sponsor-liveries.

I'm also still on team Comet. As I'm told, the SR has the performance to still matter and it's a less common car. I kinda don't want a car that everybody already drives. It's a personal issue I have. It took a couple of years to get convinced by the Zentorno too, so in two or three years I'll probably have an outdated Pariah too.

For a track like Zebra and Rally, the Comet Safari is very competitive. It has amazing traction in tubes, off-road and due to its gravity descends very fast. It's the best car in stunt Rally. For the more technical tracks, the Comet SR is much better in corners than the Pariah, H200, Maze bank. It eventually loses in the straights.

I tried googling it, but all I get is posts of people complaining about it.

They are a new characteristic added to new DLC vehicles since SSASSS update.

The point of these flags is to make cars behave a little more realistic, with it the cars react to bumps in the road by losing speed(which they would gain without the flags) and making it more prone to catch air if you hit a bump fast enough.

The also acts as a TCS to avoid wheelspin in corners

But the problems with it are:

-Nobody asked for them in the first place.

(those who complain about vehicle driving physics in this game like me, have fully realized that mere change in the code won't cut it, it would take a entire physics overall to make cars handle realistic - my biggest problem with it is how all cars react too fast to steering inputs and seems to steer from the middle of the car instead of the front axle, how there's barely any suspension travel when going over bumps, how all cars brakes are more good than they have to and all have ABS, and how the drag coefficient for all cars is too exaggerated which translates into low top speeds in general);

-They essential kill any resemblance of drifting this game ever had because of the TCS limiting wheelspin;

-R* only has added these flags to a very few specific group of vehicles instead of adding them to all the other vehicles and making things balanced, so the vehicles that have them are useless for almost everything;

-It greatly kills the engine power of most vehicles, because of this high powered cars like the Vapid Ellie and Ocelot Swinger can't even do a burnout from a standstill. Also most of these vehicles can't use all their gears because of this.

The reason why I said the Pariah deserves these flags is because that car is much faster than it has any right to be, and it's existence in the sports class throws all semblance of balance the class had into the trash can.

Because, you know, realism is exactly what we're looking for in the game that now has a jet pack with rocket launchers.

I hope Rockstar is reading along.

If it's realism I want, I'll grab my girlfriend's Renault and pretend to do a burn-out on my way to the supermarket.

I'm still very prone to buying vanity cars and Ellie was a must have right there. Flags or no.

I buy a lot of cars knowing full well I'll never race them seriously, though I'll always take them out for a few laps at least once. I don't recall Ellie being anything I didn't expect though... Ofcourse, that's just been the one time the day she came out.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Pariah nerfed or set on par with the rest, yes. But that's really just because I want to have a choice on the track. I don't wanna be tied to one car, hence this thread.

I feel a bunch of classes are screwed. Especially the Sports Classics. It's always bothered me that a car like, say, the Infernus Classic, is in there. The Lamborghini Diablo was a sportscar (were supercars already a thing in 1990?) when it first came out and I'm reasonably sure it could still give modern sportscars a run for their money. Why then put it up against a bloody '57 Bel Air?

Yes, it could be said that the Ferrari F40, Porsche 959 and Lamborghini Diablo were the first supercars by following today's definitions, but the term supercar was around by the 30's though.

I know nothing, Jon Snow.

Wasn't that more like "Golly, that car is super, daddy-o"?

I would recommend you these:

Massacro (road or RC variant)

Feltzer

(If you properly handle these 2, you can be competitive enough against both Comet SR & Elegy)

Other sports i’d recommend:

Seven 70

Jester (road or RC variant)

Schafter V12 (yes, it’s heavy afk, but even so it’s really fast)

Revolter/Neon/Raiden (INSANE acceleration)

Specter Custom
