fOverall I think that Vice City is probably the worst. I don't really like that the beach takes up so much space. Also the map just feels super small, and when you have a guy who can't swim it really sucks. The soundtrack of the game definitely makes up for the city, but it feels like such a downgrade from Liberty City. The interiors are nice, but in Liberty City there were trains and the map felt big. But at the sametime Liberty City is based off New York so of course there would be lots of skyscrapers. Also Vice City is pretty flat, but thats cause Miami is flat.

The color pallete in Vice City was nice, but it didn't feel like a real city. Downtown was OK, but everything else about the city besides Ocean Drive felt a bit off.

Not the worst but my least favourite city among all these would probably be San Fierro. It felt really boring to me.

No City deserves that title in the series but if I have to pick my least favorite I'd go with LC(IV and III)

West coast 4 life boy!

Really tho I don't like concrete jungles. A countryside could help me breathe from this place but it's nonexistent.

Even if I really like real world San Fransisco I got to go with San Fierro. It was rather small and visibly half-assed in comparison to LS or LV. Three fourth of the buildings were just cardboard cut-outs to make it bigger than it really was and you could really feel it it wasn't a priority during San Andreas development. SF could use HD rendition, because just like LC in GTA III it didn't pay full respect to the original place.

San Fierro.

Not only is it a boring and generic city with no variation in buildings as others have said, I still find to this day it is incredibly annoying and boring to navigate. The only area I found engaging was the hippie area (forget what it's called) only because it wasn't another grey, dull and lifeless block of nothing. Not only this, but SF has the worst missions in general. Maybe I have an inherent dislike for SF because it represents the most slow, dull and worst point in the story and game. In between the awesome LS gangster act and the LV/Bone County act with the actually fun and varied mission structure, SF is just overshadowed.

San Fierro. It certainly lacks creativity, most parts of the city just feel the same, there's nothing special in the city's downtown, several landmarks don't make an appearance, suburbs don't exist, annoying to navigate and the airport occupies too much space. Overall feels quite boring, much like most of SA.

Las Venturas is too monotonous and boring. The only area that looks cool and different is Prickle Pine. I'm surprised only 1 other person voted for that place.

This may come from a fact that Las Vegas isn't that much different from its in-game counterpart. Apart from The Strip and many casinos, it's rather typical city built for functionality and ease of access rather than some natural elements that would create its identity. San Andreas version represents this fairly well, and apart from casinos there is not much else to see.

San Francisco on the other hand is very bustling city with a lot of various faces, but none of them were shown in the actual game. Sure we had hippies district, but Hashbury covers just a 4 city blocks and the rest is the most bland city they could make.

I was gonna reply with something along the lines of “each city is unique in its own way” and while that is true, I do have to say that LS in San Andreas, even though it’s iconic as hell, it’s structure is just too weird and different from real life LA. Santa Monica and Venice to the south??? The observatory on the coast?? Downtown a block away from the Hollywood sign??? The Hollywood sign not visible from Hollywood blvd??? Beverly Hills City Hall in Downtown LA?? Count me out, thank you very much.

GTA IV Liberty City. Pretty bleak and grey.

There's no city I look at and think, 'what a steaming pile of sh*t that was.' Every one has it's pros and cons.

I'd echo what the majority says and go with Fierro. It's the one that I consider the most bland and samey. It's the city I'd least like to drive around from all the games.

I know what you mean but I felt that the bleak and depressing city which Rockstar created for IV did a good job at matching the grim story which the game told.

Tbh the filter was unneeded IMO. I enjoyed exploring the city far better in TBOGT because it didn't have a filter making the town look like a ghost town.

I think Las Venturas wins this title for me.

I've played a lot of SA-MP roleplay servers and keeping in mind that game concept, the layout of the city is simply too primitive to be used for some profound and interesting gameplay in that sort. The street layout is very repetitive, not to mention that the city itself is encircled by a large square highway, which makes it look effortless. If it weren't for the casino's, that place would totally be nothing special. I think it was kinda needed for the development of the San Andreas storyline, but if there was a GTA that's only based in Las Venturas, I don't think it would be worth a shot much. The desert and towns like Fort Carson beside the city feel more interesting.

I don't necessarily have a 'worst' opinion but if I had to choose it'd be a tiebreaker between 3D Liberty City and San Fierro. They were both practically the same, a bit empty and boring to look at. In LCS, Liberty City looked a bit better but most of San Fierro is just white townhouses with nothing else to look at, it's a pretty boring city. My favourite would be HD Los Santos, second favourite would be a tie between Vice City or Las Venturas.

The worst cities are San Fierro (SF) & Alderney(NJ)  this really suck !

All you see is sunset , daylight,  it is dry though it ain't a desert at all.

SF City Hall,  Doherty garage , Loco syndicate,  SF FIFA makes it all bad.

Alderney city looks bad at night with a touch of some crooks roaming  the city this , Midtown Gangsters, Mafia families, Spanish Lords operate like birds infesting it.

funny how most people chose San Fierro as the worst city, citing that "it's boring and drab" when Liberty City from GTA 4 is exactly just that, and then some.

For me it would be a tie between San Fierro and Las Venturas. The map of San Andreas is amazing when all three cities are combined, but I can't imagine a game only taking place in the 3D era SF or LV to work well at all. 3D era Los Santos alone could maybe work for a GTA game though, just make CJ return to LS a bit earlier. 😛

It's isn't about SF being boring and drab for the most of the people from what I understood. Problem is that SF is simply half-assed compared to even LS and LV from the very same game. When looking at it, you can simply realize it was either done very quickly (due to time constrains) or it didn't get much attention in the process.

LC from GTA IV may be drab and boring to you (since the most of your posts appear like a pure hate), but you can't deny that developers put a lot small and bigger details into it and nicely recreated virtual NYC capturing its soul (I believe up to this day it's the best virtual representation of New York). You may not like it, but it's hard to deny a lot of work put into it, which can't be said about SF.

Liberty City was packed with personality, detail and character. You might dislike Liberty City but it had some objectively good qualities. San Fierro was a boring, uninteresting and frankly useless city. Navigating it is insane, there's only like what, 1 area that's not full of copy+paste buildings (Hashbury)? It's laid out in such a way that getting from point A to point B feels like a chore and feels like it takes longer than it should. On top of this, it feels as vapid as the people living in it and there's no detail at all. It's just a generic city and as others have stated, it's a massive missed opportunity due to a lack of any culture and the famous street sh*tting San Francisco itself is known for.

Vice City in VC was the worst. The fact it had a really sh*tty road layout aside, it really didn't feel like Miami other than the hotels along ocean drive.
