Getting the Standard Edition.

The only reason I didn't go for the Special or Ultimate Edition was due to them giving free weapons and free money. I wanna play the game as much as possible and earn them all by myself   

 

Secondly, 

I'm definitely getting the "Game of the Year" edition when it arrives.. I love collecting GOTY editions

Going by the vote results so far it looks as if the special edition doesn't have enough to justify it for many people, it's either go big or go standard.

Yeah Rockstar's Pre orders are a bit unreliable imo, because it may become available for everyone else in the future. plus it not worth paying extra for a little head start, there is no fun in that for me personally.

Side note: The Collectors box seems reasonable on the other hand, but im not much of a collector.

will the bank robbery mission and gang hideout that is advertised on the special edition not be available on the standard edition? seems a bit unfair if it isn't

Physical ultimate edition from GameStop wanted to go all out for this one especially since that beautiful steelbook and slip cover that will come with it . Idc about the shortcuts either I just really wanted the physical items and that specific case

Yeah I was thinking of seeing a lot more people to go to the standard, but it's pretty tied atm.

Tiebreaker then: Physical ultimate edition from GameStop and the collector's box from the Rockstar Warehouse. I don't care so much about the in-game extras, I just wanted me that world map and steelbook, and any sort of memorabilia I can get. Plus just showing my support to Rockstar for a game that I will easily sink 100+ hours into. $60 just doesn't seem right for such a massive experience lol.

Still on the fence - on the one hand, online is the main draw for me (the original GTAO trailer was what got me from 'eh, maybe' to 'TAKE MY MONEY' back in 2013), and ...we know next to nothing about the online stuff this time around.

 

On the other, if it's all good, I'm not one to miss out on things like bonus outfits and whatnot, so full pre-order of the Ultimate Edition. Digital, just because that's more convenient (and also means I'm not stuffed in the unlikely event of R* pulling it from digital storefronts - like how MS is yanking Forza Horizon 2 in September, but it'll still be available for download if you already own it).

I also could easily have gone with the ultimate or special digital edition, but actually chose the standard edition. Rockstar is of course not EA, but I have started to be cautious with the release strategies of big game companies. I would sometimes with the price difference between editions be able to support some smaller independent games instead, and I feel that is a very good thing for the future and diversity of gaming. Many times the value of the extras in certain "fancy" editions from the big names in the industry, are not worth the extra cost to me. If RDR2 announced that large SP and MP DLC with map expansion and many other extras were to be released in the future, and offered a reasonable priced season pass edition, I might have considered it. But before the actual launch, I would be careful to pay more for some minor content/boosts you don't know the actual value of in the game yet. I will probably be more focused in the mood, immersive experience, and just enjoy the game! And also the potential visual creations(movies,photos) you can make with it, and not stress too much about the stats/cash/ranks in SP & MP. I will let those things glide in naturally instead of chasing them.

I got the Especial Edition I'm not a big fan of cash bonuses and discounts but I gotta feeling I was going to regret the bank robbery and the gang hideout, plus the world map needs to be hung on my wall.

Standard edition for me. Seems like their marketing department borked up a bit because the bonuses in the Special edition are putting me off from getting it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

This exactly. I could do without the "easy mode" stuff, but I can't stand feeling like I missed out on something. And that map will look good on many a wall...
