Do You really think the next GTA will be in Vice City

I wish the next GTA will be in Asia like China or Philippines, because I think Asia was more exotic

May i remind you people that Carcer City (The location of Manhunt 1) DOES exist in the HD universe, as Michael makes a reference to it in V. Maybe it could be a potential location for the next GTA game. As far as i remember, Carcer City and Liberty City aren't that far apart from each other in-universe.

I sincerely hope so. All I want after from Rockstar right now is a modern-day Vice City/South Florida.

An exotic location don't automatically mean it would make a great GTA game.

I used to think Carcer City was Detroit/Chicago but now I think it's either Philadelphia or Boston both are kinda the same distance from NYC/LC and both can really make a case for being a good candidate for a GTA city especially Philadelphia.

It gives a big influence, because in my opinion the setting of the sleepings dogs game located in Hong Kong gives the impression of exotic and unique, although the gameplay cannot be matched with GTA because they are very different games

It's likely but I hope they have vice city and a few other Southeastern cities as opposed to just the one city.

I didn't think so at first, but with Nostalgia culture being so big now, I'm predicting a GTAVIce City and I'm predicting it'll be set in the 80s again.
B option is Las Venturas - based on casino, mafia centric storyline about the gambling racket.
C option is a New City - if not Carcer City, a middle America city like Chicago or Detroit with a different name.
D option is the Crew 2 style continent of fictional Rockstar America.
out of this I think A and D option is the most likely.

They won’t do Vice City again unless it’s back in time.

Maybe following the Italian family roots of some of the old bosses in Liberty City during GTA IV.

The next GTA can be set wherever and whenever, but GTA VI needs to be Vice City.

It could be a connection to Liberty City. Vice City in the 90s perhaps?

I could see something like that working but in Las Venturas in the 70s. All of the Mafia families from around the country invest in casinos some together and they all screw each other. You could include not just families from Liberty City but also from other cities Like Carcer City.

I hope so, they’ve done Liberty and San Andreas in HD, Vice City naturally must follow. The best route imo would be to have the new Vice City, as well as a previous location because why not? The hardware would be able to handle it and it’s what I think is the next step for the GTA series, because multiple protagonists definitely wasn’t, that was just unnecessary.

Liberty City would benefit the most,  and it would be interesting to see if Rockstar could successfully pull off the different atmospheres of each city.

GTA Vice City needs to be remade as a payable expansion dlc for GTA V along with Liberty city,Including the new GTA online overlay for Liberty city online and also purchasable content like penthouses and vehicles and it would be interesting if you could fly or sail between cities/servers online,Also adding in more Roleplay elements...Now that I believe would help GTAV thrive for at least another 5 years

Untill R* Gets enough wits to scrap together another potential TRY HARD ZOMBIE INFESTED UTOPIA😂

its been 16 years since vice city was first introduced i'd say its about time. then again they could do a gta based soley in las venturas and this time its in Nevada and not san andreas. also surrounding towns and cities based on reno Nevada and carson city  etc and it could work.

Sorry, still no for me.

GTA just don't suit being outside of America, just like the creators of the franchise said themselves on more than one occasion.

If you want the Far East theme in a GTA-styled game, there is Sleeping Dogs and Yakuza to greatly fulfil your needs there.

I'd rather they just extend the map of V and include San Fierro and Las Venturas with small towns, wilderness and countryside in between like in San Andreas, but an advanced version - that is only if they decide to expand on V's map.

I’d be down for this, i’d wanna see them correct some mistakes with LS though, like adding more of the LA sprawl that was sorely lacking in V. I still feel like it wasted LA as far as potential goes.

Watch Dogs 2’s SF was great imo, easily beat LS. And both are light toned, but where V seems like a big movie set, WD2 actually manages immersion, bizarrely, given the futuristic hacking theme. If GTA went there again it would need to expand beyond the Bay Area and get into the grittier parts of the city.

Other than SA, Vegas hasn’t been recreated in a sandbox game that I know of. If they did Venturas, every casino and hotel would have to be enterable, no point otherwise. More interiors in general, but for Venturas especially the strip is main draw of the city, so it would all have to be completely interactive.

Whether you thought it was crap or not, is beside the point. I found value in it but I went it to it with an open mind and liking the new direction. But before release, you had already written it off. Not quite sure what you mean about dumping it's identity. It just turned a pseudo-open world into a more GTA-like open world but now I'm getting side-tracked. :)

I never said Rockstar is too predictable. But if they do a modern Vice City, I will say it's a predictable move and then I would certainly call Rockstar too predictable.

I'll re-iterate my point. If Rockstar sets it in Vice City, modern times, I won't be surprised - literally. People expected after IV that the HD era would be modern versions of Liberty, Vice and San Andreas. My point is that would be bit obvious. I thought Rockstar was about innovative, new and surprising gaming experiences. To me, Rockstar doing a modern Vice City purely on the fact that they set a game there before and now people expect modern HD versions of already used locations isn't very creative, innovative, original.. it's predictable. It's un-Rockstar like in many ways.

in 2002, setting a game based on Miami in 1986 was very fresh and very new. It wasn't done before. Setting a game based in South Central LA and SF and LV was very new and unpredictable at the time. Setting a game in Miami, modern times could be really f*cking great but I'm not going to get excited over it like Rockstar is doing something new and original.

Now, my point about Mafia III is that they set in 1968 in New Orleans. Point to me the other game set in the 1960s in New Orleans. Actually, point to me any open-world or GTA style game set in New Orleans. Remove your bias of whether it's crap or not. The idea was far more original, unpredictable and is trying to capture specific and unique time. To me, that kind or originality, not doing the obvious.. challenging convention is valuable to me as a gamer.  My point is that my only hope of a surprise now might not be with Rockstar.

And you mention about not worrying about returning to old haunts. Fair enough but a variety of location is more valuable to me. It's what kept GTA so fresh in 00s for me.  There's only so much I can do driving though f*cking L.A in L.A. Noire, Ture Crime: Streets of L.A, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Los Santos in San Andreas and then Los Santos in GTA V. Talk about L.A. burnout!!! Never mind all the time we see it in Hollywood and TV.  At least Vice City was fresh in 2002 or Las Vegas back in '04. Why not go to Boston in 90s? Haven't seen a GTA like game in Boston. Something new. Get tired of driving over the same old bridges and seeing the same things in games.

I completely take your point but I feel they can do both - play it safe with old locations and risk with new ones.

A dual location of VC and another northern city and/or parts of central America would make the location feel fresh but familiar.

Yeah man, I could definitely get into that. After watching Narcos and playing Ghost Recon, I'm starting to like the Columbian setting.

I’d eat my hat if they don’t. It’s the San Andreas model - one main city that can work on its own (LA) and another (or two) that maybe can’t but fit in with a bigger location and allow them to experiment a bit.

It's gotta be Vice City, Since the tradition started from GTA 1, which includes all three cities.

I like the idea of a HD GTA 6 in the whole state of Florida.  Activities can be drug smuggling, guns smuggling, human trafficking along with hitman and chop shop

Either Vice City or somewhere outside of the US in my opinion.

I think Europe doesn't fit for a main series game (something like San Andreas/Vice City which is almost like a spin-off could work though, but we haven't seen any of those in the HD era) since the cities lack that verticality that we tend to see and road layouts would make driving (which is always a large part of the game) a chore. That leaves South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. I think Australia and Africa could be crossed out as they don't sound like the most interesting settings.

South America would be promising though (or Central America, even). A game set in Mexico City with a storyline around the cartels or something in Brazil (considering the large fanbase the game has there as well) with favelas could work very well. Hell, we saw Max Payne 3 in Brazil and I'd say it worked out well.

As for Asia, I think it'd be risky but could work as well. Then again, we already had a GTA which dealt a fair bit with the triads in Chinatown Wars, which didn't sell too well AFAIK. I do think it could be great if they pulled it off, but I doubt it.

I don't know if I see GTA ever leaving the US though, simply because things like familiar GTA cars would likely be gone plus it'd be quite a risk.

...On second thought, GTA V only covered Los Santos... and Las Venturas with Bone County could be an entire island. I think when it comes to making the HD GTA universe, Rockstar likes to stay in the modern setting. I can't imagine what they'd make with a modern Vice City.

I think SF and LV are a possibility - I’m convinced Rockstar will do a multi city GTA - but I can’t see them going back to San Andreas so soon (well, you know what I mean...) after V.
