RDR is not GTA, so even modding is way more limited. But I mean it's your money and I not pronoucing pirating games, but you don't need to buy game for mods, rather for online section, which is pretty much done.

 

Bullet tracing is not necessarily bad, I just don't like it and it doesn't look great. I don't plan to use Online that much and maybe I would like some of those guns to be available in the SP. I prefer SP anyway. Nothing unusual there.

 

And why would I not want Trevor to wear and online doomsday armor if I feel like it? Also, correct me if I am wrong, but all male characters in RDR online use same animations that Arthur has and is basically the same rig only different textures. So I don't see any reason as to why those clothes would be so unusual for Arthur to have in SP if one wishes.

 

No one buys the game just for the mods, it is an additional option and can be a big bonus, sometimes changing the game and making numerous playthroughs even more fun if you get tired of it. It prolongs the game by a lot, again look at Skyrim and others.

 

I don't think it is that hard to see how modding can improve and benefit the game for a lot of people on the PC.

This is so false...the only limit is what modder's imagination and skills can come up with.

apparantly RDR2 does still have the vehicle code for cars, bikes, helicopters and planes.

so if they don´t remove it for PC, then we could even port cars from V to RDR2.

imagine going hunting by running them over in a monster truck :D :D :D

Well imagine a mod that gives you a Delorean and all the characters from Back To The Future 3 in single player? That would be neat!!!

No it doesn't. Modding can add/change things to the game that suit the style and tone of the game, or not. Some of the coolest mods I've ever seen are ones that completely change the game they're modded into.

John's original hair, that's the only mod I need! 😂 Maaaybe R* is kind enough to give it to us in a future patch for all platforms but I wouldn't hold my breath ... if it didn't happen till now.

Before this thread fully explodes, most of these files are GTA V leftovers. All the RDR2 specific graphics settings found in the Companion App library files are missing from those XML's from the RPF. This includes the Replay settings, Graphics and Advanced Graphics settings seen in there, and the presets file which has the same presets used during GTA V development.


Stuff like Checkerboarding, Sharpness, etc are all missing.

It seems the Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro presets are missing from the list; That might be the case.

OK, wait a second. There ARE some differences, such as the reference to DirectX Feature Set 12_1! However, there is still lots missing compared to what was found before.

 

It's a very good find still. They seem to have changed the code for the settings menus a bit.

 

Some of the graphics options from GTA V became sliders in RDR2, such as refresh rate. It's probably  a little dot you can drag now.

 

Some more observations: They seem to have integrated some extra things to the R* Editor menu, also, all graphics options have an Ultra preset unlike GTA V.

@Spider-Vice The files were made with a new format that is not available in GTA V. The content of the files are new because R* has a new UI subsystem in RDR2 and the files were specifically made for this new system.

Yep, read subsequent posts, wasn't doubting you before, it just seemed a bit incomplete. A lot clearer too, and they exposed some options in the GUI (just tagged as DontShow) that were only available via XML mods before.

 

There's still a few graphics options missing compared to the initial findings but these files could be older. They're definitely new and reveal a few minor things including DX12 support, some options becoming sliders, everything having an Ultra preset now, Soft Shadows being separate, etc.

There's detail and something new, not often a new thing on this thread.  Even a fake leak will generate a lot of interest while people try to figure out what's going on.

Maybe. This current version of RAGE has support for iOS and Android as evidenced by previous Companion App findings, to the point that the Companion App itself is running in an instance of RAGE! There's RPF files in it, and file formats dedicated to iOS and Android (for example, PC's map files are "ymap", PS4 files are "omap" (for Orbis, PS4's codename), Xbox One's files are "dmap" (for Durango, Xbox One's codename) and now we have "amap" for Android and "imap" for iOS).

i guess they just made it work to future proof it.

maybe if they make some mobile games in the future like ctw, that they don´t need a new engine and such, and can just use their own engine for EVERYTHING

It's no easy task to port a whole game from an engine to the other though. And Rockstar don't seem to care much about their old games anyway, at least not enough to dedicate a whole team fully to porting an old game to RAGE.
