There's new projects in development posted to the SteamDB on a daily basis, generally for testers to get their hands on.  Because things are added so quickly it's dificult to tell what is what, plus Devs hide everything behind codenames and don't allow users to view the file sizes of different apps, without being given the necessary codes to download an app in testing.

GTA V was 'Shetland Pony' on Steam through most of the testing, but no one knew that at the time, even though it was on the SteamDB for a long period, it only became clear after the PC announcements and R* added the 'dev name' to the SteamDB files. There probably is an RDR2 SteamDB build, but without a clue of where to look, no one knows where it is.

That actually makes sense. Well then its impossible to find it i guess.

For an announcement of the pc version, I'd pin that on end of January to end of February. That way consoles get to cover black friday/thanksgiving, Christmas, new year/January sales, which are the usual hot spots. Once those have passed, they'll announce it and give it three months to get hype.

Therefore, announced at end of January, released end of April/early May.

Man, I am hoping this would happen.

That's a very cute codename.

I believe we're looking at a June/July announcement and release in fall 2019.

I believe we are going in circles here. Speculating won't do anything.

Well I mean... that's the thread's purpose right now. I don't see anything wrong with that. There were plenty of threads dedicated to speculation before RDR2's console release. It's just to pass the time and conversate.

I do think we'll end up seeing a Fall release, as opposed to the rumored Summer target. We'll see though.

Summer or fall makes sense, at first i thought spring but thats not gonna happen but who knows. But they might want to release it so they can be on the Steam Summer/Winter sale and be highlighted there.

It seems that PS5 backward compatibility is a sure thing after a recent patent by Sony.

https://www.gamesradar.com/ps5-backwards-compatibility-all-but-confirmed-by-newly-discovered-sony-patent/

So, those argument about having to wait for the "next gen" version for the RDR2 PC are getting slimer by the day.

How many of you guys would pay full price £49.99 if it was available for pre-order right now? I would definetly pay it.

I would but in my case i think it would be 59 euros. The game is worth that much money so i dont mind spending it on something thats good.

The modding potential is worth the price alone, IMO.

Almost every PC (only) gamer would because we're playing it for the first time. Besides, it'll have regional pricing just like GTA V. So, it'll definitely have strong pre orders UNLESS they pull something out of their arse like Epic Store exclusive BS(which probably won't happen as Strauss hinted recently).

Expect a summer announcement or spring at the earliest.

If they are going to release it on summer we should've heard something already.

I know I wouldn't. Considering that R* intentionally delays every PC release to boost console sales and that the story was mostly spoiled for me by now - why would I? Doing that would basically mean that "I agree with their strategy and I think they should keep doing that forever"

Heck, I didn't even buy GTA V for the same reason. I just randomly got a free code from a friend. So I will probably just wait till I can buy RDR2 for cheap. I have more games then I have free time so thats not a problem for me.

edit:
And also that one time in gtaonline their broken ass anti-cheat system marked me as a cheater and they removed around 40mill from my account (I grinded for years. Never used glitches or mods). And the same thing happened to thousands of people at that time. So since they wasted my time and they never addressed this issue (and gtao is still full of cheaters to this day) I decided I don't rly want to supporting them anymore. After all todays R* is not the same company that we used to love, those people got laid off years ago. Now they are as greedy as EA in my eyes.

It depends on the timing for me, if there's anything else I want coming out near it then I might wait before I pick it up.

If we don't buy the pc version, they would say " on pc rdr doesn't sell", but if we buy it they would say "this strategy works". The only way is not buy the game on console and of course, doesn't buy a console with the game. Just wait the pc version

Correctly! PC players have lost when they bought the game on console OR even bought a console just for the game. Rockstar Games died for me. I'm waiting for the final of Star Citizen. I think that can be great. I will buy RDR2 if it costs 10 euros.

I doubt they'd be able to re-sell the game at full price again. Not enough enhancements to warrant the GTA V treatment. Especially with the rumored and highly likely backwards compatibility.

As I posted in one of the previous comments, PS5 will probably have backward compatibility, some recent patent entries all but confirmed it. Same for the new Xbox. There will be no next -gen versions if that is the case.

Backwards compatibility will absolutely be a thing but the BIG games will probably still have some form of a next-gen rerelease. Gotta have versions of the game for the people who make the jump from Xbox to PS or vice versa. But I'd expect there to be a next-gen patch for people who stick with the same platform.

That might be the case, but not sure on how they plan to sell it. What improvements might they offer? From some of the reports, it might be possible to update some of the classics to work on new systems, without the need of the complete new version.

The ps4 pro and xbox one x versions already looks amazing (probably very similar to the PC version), so i dont think they will do a next gen version.

Also it will be 2 years after release (rumors says that ps5 and xbox 2 will be out fall 2020) and that is to much time. Remember that GTA V next gen versions come out only 1 year and 2 months after ps3 release.

And if rumors are true, backwards compatibility will be a thing.
