Probably the draw in duels will be done with the mouse, like moving it slowly while pushing a button or something.
To be honest tho, I played the game and I really recommend you guys to play it with a controller, it's really nice.

I want DX11 and i know how games work. DX12 in theory, should improve frame rate and performance in general, but the reality is that DirectX12 games have additional effects that lower the frame-rate. In practice, these are the results.

Lower frame rate on DX12, almost 10 fps less than on DirectX11.

DirectX11 is great even today, developers are working with DX11 for a while now, and they got used to it. I am sure they can make a great optimised game even with DX11, it's all about developers experience and ideas about more effective ways to create something without downsides. Saying that DX11 is sh*t is just disrepectful.

Not gonna lie the lighting in RDR2 is already astonishing. However, It would be cool to have the option.

In practice Directx11 has some serious limitations and probably it will die as soon as developers will start to develop games with next-gen consoles in mind, especially open world games. Vulkan runs on the same hardware and more and more developers start to use it with every single year. In the end only next Xbox may end up using Directx12 and whether we like it or not, Stadia is the biggest chance for Vulkan since it exists. Ubisoft engineer already said at GDC 2019 that Vulkan is not going anywhere and it is here to stay. Ubisoft is one of the biggest developers and if they are happy with Vulkan then you can expect that other developers will follow the path.

But as you can see, there's at least 10% room for the CPU to breathe which is a big YES for me since i have a 4th gen i5. Dx11 is great but it simply can not handle big open-worlds that are always growing with more details and things happening in the background. He had a glorious life but it's now almost over.

 

There's also the problem of how little CPUs are evolving compare to GPUs. They all wanna have a game that is beautiful when you look at it with your eyes but once you look at it from a technical view... it's not as detailled as the graphics which is a shame since a beautiful game and good physics and everything related to CPU will always work better than just graphics or just physics.

 

You have to find the middleground and unfortunately, there's little to no developpers willing to have a loss in graphical fidelity for physics/A.I improvements for example.

 

At the end, beautiful screenshots of a game will always sell it better than "Best physics of any game". It's too 2000's.

GTA V flying is incredibly easy on keyboard, thanks to the more arcadey air vehicle handling. Flying a Hydra is especially easy for me, in both modes. All it required was some clever key rebinding and I was set.

This is just bad DX12 implementation. Also none of these are open world games. Just take a look at the CPU usage of AC Odyssey. It uses DX11 only. 

 

I love how the Youtuber didn't even test Shadow of Tomb Raider as it is one of the best DX12 implemented game to this date I'd say. 

 

Metro Exodus, The Division 2 are good examples of DX12 implementation in 2019 games. DX11 was good but now it's sh*t as @MrQuiche has said. It deserves to die and developers should start working with DX12 or Vulkan, especially with open world titles.

I agree with this. It's because DX12 is low level API, like Vulkan, and they are harder to work with, because programming with them is something like telling GPU directly what to do but GPU only knows Chinese and you know English. People who mastered dx12 are able to make pretty good optimised games. Unfortunately, i don't think that developers will ever be able to use dx12 properly. Maybe a couple of studios. Dx11 will die sometimes, but my opinion is that next high level API, DirectX13, will take over completely. We saw smilar scenario with DX9 and DX10.

I tried both version (Rpcs3/PS3 & Xenia/Xbox 360) and for my machine [i7 4770 slightly overclocked and a GTX 1060 6GB], the Xenia version is vastly superior in terms of frame rate for me (like 20-25fps). Say they could both improve the performance and the visual for the game in the emulators, gives me hope that at least with Xenia on my rig I could finally get a stable 30fps!

Xenia is GPU intensive 

Rpcs3 is CPU intensive 

I have a 7700k with a rtx 2080ti and I get good performance on both emulators but best performance on Xenia.

Thanks for the heads up. I will try the Xenia emulator. I knew Xenia performs better than RPCS3 for RDR but I never really bothered to try it out until now.
