I don't think games as service is a bad thing because in reality, it just won't stick. However, I can see why it could be useful. Especially for those with not enough money to spare for games (under-developed countries, low wage workers and cheap f*cks)

The the thing though its going to be no use to people who live in under developed country's or even in second world country's where internet is sh*t. I'm in Australia and I don't know of any ISP that sells a data plan big enough and fast enough to be able to substitute a console or a pc with a streaming platform. 16gb per hour for the best possible settings on stadia, 1tb for 65hours. Requires a 35mbps internet speed. Most internet connections in Australia would be lucky to push 20mbps and at the slowest 1mbps.

Been saying it since day 1, stadia has a minute demographic, it's DOA.

I agree. Also, DirectX 12 is not developer favourite, since nobody really wants to use it in their games and it is like DirectX10, difficult to work with. I think that DirectX11 will be standard for many years from now, and RDR 2, if comes to PC, probably will provide option to switch between DirectX11 and Vulkan, but will sure run on DirectX 11.

Nope, RDR2 runs on DirectX 12. (Source: Companion app and Xbox One already runs in DX12, making conversion trivial even if it had to be converted). It might have a DX11 switch though.

DirectX for the companion app? I thought only Microsoft products used DirectX, i thought android and IOS used OpenGL. What do playstations use

It's likely, given the XBox One basically runs on DX11.  Although cards that are unable of upping to DX12 are getting pretty underpowered these days.

No doubt if a DX11 switch is there, the low-spec gamers will get to work, using the power of notepad to really get to the graphics switches you normally cannot reach.

No, I mean it was found in the companion app where all the other PC evidence is. Playstations use their own version of OpenGL I think.

It runs on 12 mostly nowadays I think. Although it can use 11 too yes. RDR2 runs on DX12 for example according to what was found in the files.

Playstation is again kinda strange and use two graphics API even though it's look like it kinda works the same way as DirectX 11 from a programmation POV.

It's the shading language, it's very similar to HLSL, they tried to make it as easy as possible for Microsoft developers funnily.

They don't even need DX11 anymore since DX12 is already available on Windows 7 (50% PC's still run Windows 7)

Gears 5 on Steam is latest example of this, it can run in DX12 on Windows 7, no need to upgrade to Windows 10.

However, DX12 support in Windows 7 is incomplete because of missing OS functions. They made it "work" but you'll only get maximum performance/all the fancy stuff on Windows 10. I can't see RDR2 being Windows 10 exclusive so I'm 100% sure it'll have a switch for DX11.

Almost one year old and theres nothing about a PC port by R* sad.

I don't think RDR2 PC is a port from the console version but the other way around (at least i hope it's the case). Remember the first trailer of RDR2, it's better looking than the console release (yes there's artistic changes and overall improvements and decisions that were made from this to the release), it looks to be running on a PC and is close to V highest settings on PC, just look at the grass and the particle effects when the horses gallops at the end of the trailer.

Yet they (developers) are using dx11 in every game they release today, some games support both dx11 and dx12 but few are only dx12. DirectX 12 failed to impress as a new API, i would say that DirectX 12 is DirectX10 2.0. I am hoping that RDR 2 on PC will work on DX 11 so i could test it on my low-end laptop GPU NVIDIA GeForce GT 820M.

Maybe there will be more graphic features like in GTAV with DX10, 10.1 and 11.

Doubt it will support DX10, to be honest. It's more than obsolete now and as said before, it really didn't stick compared to DX11. GTA V had it because GTA V was already a legacy game in and of itself, made for last gen and developed in an era where developers could still put DX10 switches in their games for old GPUs.

No I'm not saying that it will have DX10, I'm saying that maybe RDR2 will have more graphic features if you switch to DX12, like GTAV that allows you to use the Post Processing if you switch to DX11.

Games are developed on PC anyway. Remember that old screenshot of GTAV for old-gen? Look on the left.

well DirectX 12 probably wasnt a thing when they first started developing it so DX11 might be supported.

July 2015, so pretty sure they add the time to add it in more than 3 years

People who are wanting DX11 have no idea how game runs/works. Your CPU will be more frontloaded with DX11 and in CPU intensive games, frames will suffer. I really hope it has good DX12 and Vulkan implementation. DX11 is sh*t.

After all this time I think that it is already in the game. I wouldn't be surprised if the presence of DX12 will be a selling point.

I don't want DX11, I really don't care what graphics api they use. There are far more important things to effect performance. But we are sure going to have DX12 and vulkan so I'm happy.

Speculating on the graphics API. This thread is really going to explode once it's announced. "LOOK THERE'S ONE MORE BIRD IN THE SKY COMPARED TO THE ONE X VERSION PC MASTER RACEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE".

I cant even imagine what a gta 6 or a bully 2 would look like, but im all for it.

Also, I brought this up before but, what do you guys think a PC port would look like in terms of controls? On controllers you are able to draw your gun by slowly moving down the trigger. Obviously this wouldn't work on a keyboard. Also things like horse movement and character movement.

That's why I want it to have Vulkan. DX11 these days is sh*t, just like you said.

Me too i love to think about GTA 6

In terms of controls,i don't really know as i still haven't played the game and don't really how it handles and how to translate it to keyboard/mouse

I've seen some redonkulous keyboard only pilots on PC tbf.

But yea, duels and some other things will have to be reworked. Rockstar are pretty good in that area though, rebindable keys, lots of options.
