I wonder what stage they are at with the PC version, just bug fixing/optimization?

The question is whether they are still working on Vulkan API support in RDR 2. It took id software 2 months to add support for it in Doom, which is linear shooter and was based on Open GL. With game such as big as RDR 2 you have way more work to do, a lot of work to be honest and way more possible bugs but having support for Vulkan in RDR 2 would greatly benefit for the PC players. Not to mention that you need a lot of attention of the engine team which is probably very busy now with making RAGE ready for next-gen consoles and GTA VI at the same time. If you want to add something to the game then engine has to support and if it doesn't then you're screwed.

Watch it if you want, you may find it interesting.

As @IG_ already explained you don't have to buy the game again.

People that own the service are saying that it was the only way to play the game tho.

They still have the game (on steam or RGSC), it's just that those particular users don't have a good enough PC to run the game at the moment so GeforceNow was their only way to play it.

-RDR2 PC doesn't really need much pre-order time as everyone already knows what RDR2 is, this is just a fancier version of it:
I don't think this is a sole reason but I also don't think RDR2 PC needs 6 months of hype either.

A million times this, imo. Everyone and their mothers know Rockstar Games and now RDR2, they really don't need to prove themselves with half a year of marketing.

Doom 2016 released with Vulkan support though (IIRC!). Maybe they took 2 months to adapt it for Stadia?

No it didn't it, was added in July 2016. Basing on Ubisoft presentation I think that Vulkan may become main PC API, at least when it comes to Ubisoft games.

Yeah, it was originally released with OpenGL.

Oh, hmm. Because I think Vulkan is now the default renderer for Doom. Also, yeah, Vulkan is a very solid API, so I'm not surprised more developers start to use it. Not to mention how much easier it becomes to make games multiplatform with it as Vulkan is also on Linux.

Not to mention, that DirectX 12 is limited to Windows 10 only and with Vulkan you can basically release your game for Windows and Linux. Like you said, future is bright for Vulkan.

That happeing to GTA V on GeForce Now is a perfect example why I absolutely DESPISE "Games as a Service".

You don't own the service, you pay a fee to use it and it's range of games. If a game gets removed from the service there is nothing you can do, it's legitimate for them to remove it from the service.

That's why I buy my games. They can't just revoke a license that has been acquired by purchase...

Games as a service is cancer for the game industry and I hope people will acknowledge that for good.

They absolutely can, especially on platforms like Steam, Uplay, Origin etc.

It depends. Lego LOTR and Lego Hobbit were removed from all platform because the company behind it wasn't generating new keys anymore and thus stopped selling it, but people who already own it before hand still own it and can still download and install it.

Make me remember a game called Loadout, it was a F2P on Steam which can't be downloaded anymore (at least not from the store page) because they couldn't adapt to the GDPR laws back in 2018. But it's F2P so there was no licensing behind it but there was MTX so that means that Europeans that have put money in MTX have payed for something they can't even see anymore.

All about these licenses you talking is a Bull**it.

Read exactly the Steam User Agreement - only if they want they can remove your licenses, account without any reasons...

And you won't have any way to complain about it.

Same with RGSC, Origin, Epic Games and almost every digital distribution platform.. ;)

Except from online only games where the servers are shut down (such as Loadout which was mentioned above), I'm not sure if there's ever been a game that's been removed from somebodies library on Steam, Origin, etc. They can be removed from the store but continued to be downloaded and played.

There's probably been one or two cases of it happening but it's incredibly rare. The mai

I know for sure one thing: if Steam (or any services like it) shuts down forever all the products bought on that platform are inaccessible.

A huge platform like Steam isn't comparable to Geforces attempts at live service, I didn't even know it was a thing. You don't have to worry about your Steam library going away anytime soon, if ever.

I believe Steam has a failsafe/plan if in the extremely unlikely case where it shuts down. It would be messy still though for sure. It's been the big "what if" with digital distribution for a long time but the services of choice (PSN, XBL, Steam, etc) are probably too big to go down at this point.

I just said the thing that is 99% sure to happen. Although yes, of course they're too big as companies to go down.

No, you said the thing that Valve are on record in saying they have things in place to prevent.

Anyways, one month until the end of summer aka one month away from RDO summer update because why not release it on the last day 😂

I'm hopeful that they will release the summer update next week, maybe Thursday or Friday?

They generally release updates on Tuesdays and the current RDO event is two weeks long, going to the 3rd of September, so all signs point to it not being next week sadly.

In a way, I'm kinda happy that we will get the game when Red Dead Online is in a good state. Right now, it's pretty bad as far as I'm aware and if they manage to get it closer to what GTA Online used to be, all PC players will get a new start and hopefully be into the online which Rockstar want so we buy gold bars or whatever. However, I still want Rockstar to drop a trailer just so we know 100% that it's coming. I think the unknown is what is killing us as there's a chance they might not release anything.

Speaking of Valve, anyone getting it on Steam or going to RS warehouse? So far I've had no issues with Steam and RS DRM playing well together so I might just go with Steam.

Steam is still my number 1 choice but if it goes the EGS route I'd probably choose warehouse.

I don't think games as service is a bad thing because in reality, it just won't stick. However, I can see why it could be useful. Especially for those with not enough money to spare for games (under-developed countries, low wage workers and cheap f*cks)
For some people it's easier to pay ?30? (idk) dollars a month and maybe get to play a library of games that will probably last enough until they get bored of it. If they really like the game they can just buy.
It's not that bad to be fair. But it's DEFINITELY NOT a replacement. I'd much rather physically own my games. Even if that means that I have to download my entire Steam Library. At least I have a physical copy on my hard-drive.

I agree. Also, DirectX 12 is not developer favourite, since nobody really wants to use it in their games and it is like DirectX10, difficult to work with. I think that DirectX11 will be standard for many years from now, and RDR 2, if comes to PC, probably will provide option to switch between DirectX11 and Vulkan, but will sure run on DirectX 11.
