If that's the case, I'll buy a PS5(which I am already planning to), and call it a day. Even though I have been pessimistic and kept saying the next gen will come before PC, I'll say that if it indeed happens, the sales of PC will be directly affected because of this. No one will buy a 3 year old game for $60. GTA is GTA. RDR 2 is not GTA. Rockstar needs to realize this.

The calls are public, you can listen to them your self if you want.

 

But as Spider said the most we can get out of them as players is if they have high expectations in the near future, as that means a major release is happening. This is likely to be the case with this call if they go into their predictions for the rest of the year because of Borderlands 3, so if they predict high earnings in the call don't assume it's cause RDR2 PC is gonna drop.

 

We won't get any game announcements during the call, nor will we get game info, this is not what the calls are for and believe me people ring up during these calls and ask Strauss Zelnick him self if X/Y/Z is coming out soon and he never confirms or denies anything. That being said, Take-Two are known for timing announcements around these calls, we've had major Rockstar announcements shortly before these calls quite a few times now, so they're always a decent time window for a possible announcement.

 

But really, expect nothing cause we'll probably get nothing.

RDR2 has been $40 for months now, which is unusual for Rockstar titles, but PC version even if it's coming out in 2020 will be $60, so unfair.

Here's my go at some 60 FPS gameplay. It's just random stuff (horse riding, shooting people, and some first-person), so sorry if it's not incredibly exciting.

 

DaVinci Resolve's Optical Flow Speed Warp isn't the best frame blending tool out there, but it's not bad either.

San Diego is known to be the franchise studio for Red Dead.

 

Though, they also house the RAGE dev team, so maybe that's just that...

Most likely just the RAGE dev team. RDR2 was produced mainly by Rockstar North, even the SIGGRAPH presentation about it was R* North. San Diego does make RAGE's online systems, so...

It makes me wonder what sort of graphical upgrades the next-gen/PC version would have- maybe some form of raytracing and higher-poly models?

 

TBH, graphical updates only go so far, and I'd say that we're already starting to get to the point of diminishing returns, where possible upgrades just don't have the 'wow' factor that came with each generational leap.

 

I hope we might see some some fixes, polishing of the gameplay and maybe the completion of unfinished/scrapped content- they wouldn't be that arrogant to release the exact same game without some level of improvement, but I don't know.

Was RDR2 really produced mainly by Rockstar North? I thought it was mostly San Diego doing it.

What does that mean for GTA VI development?

Yes. And it means nothing, because Rockstar productions are made between all the studios, even if one specific studio is leading the project. They can make two games at the same time Just prioritise one over the other based on release date.

I see, it being Rockstar North gives me hope RDR2 will be decent PC port just like GTA V, I don't think San Diego likes PC gaming, at least they did not back when RDR1 released. 

 

Do you think 2022 is realistic time frame for GTA VI exclusively on next gen Playstation and Xbox? Sorry for going off-topic.

Not necissarily. Back in the days it was normal that a single studio made initial development as a main developer and got some minor support from other studios and later on another single studio ported the game.

 

In RDR2s' case the game was a full-blown collaborative development where development was globally labeled with "Rockstar Studios" for their collective.

Rockstar North is credited first, they're the ones doing the promoting and presentations on the game's tech, the game's director Rob Nelson is from R* North, I mean, I think it's pretty obvious who led the project. You need a leader even if every studio develops the game, that's what I mean. Everyone developed it, but there is one leader. It's still a Rockstar Studios production

GTA VI won't come out atleast until 2025/26 and that too might be early.

GTA V has gone back to the most selled game on Steam btw. They don't care about cheaters because once they've bought the game, they've earned money.

This is utter bullsh*t. They would lose tons of money if Stadia would be the platform for release. The majority won't touch Stadia, also the modders don't affect anyone. Rockstar doesn't give two f*cks about singleplayer modding and GTA Online is a cash cow anyways, with or without cheaters. 

 

The RDR2 PC port will release on PC as core platform, everything else would be stupid.

I'm not 100% sure but the games on Stadia are simply being run on a beefy server that receive mouse/keyboard inputs and then sends the video output to the user via Internet. To make a game work on Stadia, you'll still need to make a proper PC version so why not release the standalone and the Stadia too.

Think what you want. It's just my theory. I hope for you that RDR2 appears on the PC.
And GTA 5 came to the PC after a petition. Nobody knows if Rockstar will release GTA on PC without this petition.
