I actually believe they'll release it on Steam. Even though Take-Two caused Borderlands 3 to come out on the Epic store and not Steam, Rockstar are definetly their biggest company and I feel Rockstar would have a much bigger say in which platforms they release on. My guess is that it'll be on Steam, Rockstar Warehouse and the Epic Games store. Look at happened last time when Take-Two made a bad decision for Rockstar (banning OpenIV in 2017). In the end, they decided to allow modding. Also, Valve introduced the new system where if a game makes a certain amount of money, they'll take a smaller cut.

Seems to be, and its not like he'd tell us details anyway because that's just career suicide assuming its employee(s) telling him.

The funny thing is that some of the images from those posts were graphically interesting. While pretty low-res they also had nice Anisotropic Filtering (better than whatever the consoles versions had). It was kinda off-putting...

My real PTSD is from refreshing that page so many times, making weird comments and having them be deleted, making weird Photoshop edits or Inspect Element edits of pages...

Sometimes I'm led to believe that the time I spent anticipating the PC Version of GTA V actually made me demotivated and numb. It was like mental torture.

Same, I remember the months of waiting for Gta5 to be announced for pc. Once it was announced I could breath easy and became much less involved in this sort of community because I knew when it was coming and how long the wait was.

I honestly think once RDR2 pc is finally released, I will try to step away from games because I spend too much of my life obsessing.

Yeah, but I’m that case at least there is the Rockstar Warehouse you’d probably be able to get it from too. Epic’s angle seems to be mostly “as long as it’s not on Steam,” because of their weird hate-boner for it.

For Ubisoft the EGS deal worked great , they took the money from Epic and pushed most people to buy directly from Uplay just to avoid the EGS.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar tried to do the same thing.

I mentioned the same thing a couple pages back. But Rockstar will first need to tidy up their store, and preferably make it into a client/launcher of its own. Since right now you can't really buy anything using the RGSC. It's just a launcher. 

 

Who's to say if they even have any interest in doing that, lol. The website probably works just as well, haven't used it in ages though.

I wonder if that takes into account the amount of copies from the AMD bundles. I expect a lot came from those.

I think @Fun 2 or @Spider-Vice have been talking about the newer version of RGSC but i don't remember everything they said about it. It dates back to at least 20 pages+

It is possible, however, as I mentioned a couple of times, the deal would have to be huge. And I mean huge....Skipping Steam that to this day has GTA V in the top list sellers......Yes, they have the money, but they would lose enormous amounts on a game that is RDR2. And for what? 6 months or 1 year exclusivity where almost everyone will buy it on Warehouse or wait for Steam?

 

As you said, that deal worked great for Ubisoft, but for Epic....Not sure how much more they can streach their profits, especially with the behemoth that is RDR2, that will dwarf any deal Epic has made so far...

 

It is a possibility, but I am really not so sure about that anymore.

It is a possibility, but I am really not so sure about that anymore.

 

For Rockstar it could work because the potential losses would be covered by the Epic huge payout, so they get to push people to their launcher risk free, but yeah, from Epic's perspective it doesn't seem a good deal. We'll see what happens.

This is true, RGSC and Uplay are not exactly the same thing, also I remember a lot of people who bought RGSC keys back when GTA V PC released saying they had a lot of issues with the launcher, and I don't know if those issues were ever fixed.

This is true, RGSC and Uplay are not exactly the same thing, also I remember a lot of people who bought RGSC keys back when GTA V PC released saying they had a lot of issues with the launcher, and I don't know if those issues were ever fixed.

 

 

 

I have physical 7 disc version of the game, but since disc swapping is annoying and my internet is fast I've been downloading the game from RGSC instead.

 

I've got no issues there and it maxes my internet speed, but as you said it's just a simple launcher still.

i didn't really had problems when i bought the physical version of GTA V. Only one, when i was at the middle of the first DVD, it stopped and said that the installation failed, i simply re launch the installer by putting back the first DVD and then it worked flawlessly till the end, there still was a day-one patch update to download but that's it. The game launched fine and i had no crash.

Don't wanna be pessimist but next week might be a bit of a stretch. The word "Surely" can't really be applied to Rockstar because everything is so random and illogical (talking about the marketing and announcements of their games, not the games themselves).

 

The coming week might be for the next big RDO update or some news atleast

I believe thats what part of the redesign is for. They completely redesigned social club for RDR2 but I also think they will release their own "Rockstar Games Store Launcher" where they sell all the classics and we can launch games, share content etc too. Basically the social club website but a launcher.

Rockstar doesn't care about their own launcher. They don't even have a universal client to launch all their PC games. Why would they do the same thing?

Rockstar tweeted on a Sunday which means we could get a significant Red Dead related post this week, likely tomorrow. It looks like things are turning back to RDR2 and the PC Version could potentially be announced.

Plus the Score is releasing this week August 9th. I think we can expect quite a few updates and announcements and thankfully the focus should be back on RDR2 (as it should be.)
