"Later this summer" is again being put in front by Rockstar for the newest Roleplaying update for RDO. Are they planning to release this in September alongside a PC version because it must be really annoying for people playing RDO to be told since 4 months that it is coming "later this summer". For me summer is almost gone, it finishes at the end of August and i don't consider September because school kicks off again so no more vacations.

https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/61063/Red-Dead-Online-Update-Coming-Soon?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=rdo-roles-08022019&utm_content=newswire

It may not mean anything, but the RDR2 reward for collecting the cards in GTAO says it will be available "later this year" instead of "later this summer". They might just do that for flexibility reasons but...

If I'm not mistaken, the last time GTAO got a RDR2 event on PC was to celebrate the launch of RDR2 (probably to get people hyped on all platforms to buy it anyway), but now its on PC again. 🤔

I don't think Rockstar writes multiple articles in a single day.

Yes it's early but that might be because it's friday and the marketing team leaves the office sooner so when they have something to announce on friday (which is pretty rare) they do this just because f*ck it, tonight there's beer at home

Well, they normally post their stuff at 4pm CEST, so yeah that was quite early today, but I doubt they will release such erupting news in a second post.

By erupting I mean, that the internet will tremble and explode once it's official.

Indeed they do. They've posted multiple times a day during the marketing of RDR2.

I was hoping for something but like i said, they don't have anything to say about a PC version. They simply got a news about RDO update and they decided to upload early because we're friday and the "marketing team" might left the office early on this day.

I don't check newswire everyday. Only when there's a new post (that means i only visit it every three months)

Two in one day?!

You think these guys work for a living or something?

I still have PTSD from all the false-start posts about GTA Online every Tuesday and Thursday. Except now it's RDRO sh*t. I have enough Newswire posts about player-created GTAO missions and contests engraved into my brain to last me four f*cking lifetimes.

Never thought we'd be going through this a second time, except somehow worse.

It's not new for Rockstar to post twice. 😄 Like I said we've had news as late as 9 - 10PM BST during the pre-launch of RDR2. So I think it may be the same case for the PC version if they are repeating the same technique.

Realistically if they are gonna release a PC version, they are probably gonna do the same thing they did for GTA V and release it a few months after the next gen versions (so that they can milk people out of their money as much as possible, of course).

That means that we'll have to wait at least a year just for RDR2 to be announced.

The difference is that back then, next-gen had already come out. I think they'll release it late this year or early 2020. Waiting until the end of 2020/2021 would be an incredibly dumb idea.

Eh, the fact that next gen hasn't been announced yet plays negatively for the PC release imo, since PC players that also have consoles will probably buy the next version and the PC version later, but won't do the opposite (Because let's be honest, the PC version will very likely be the most enjoyable of the bunch).

Also I noticed there is much less interest in a PC version for RDR2 compared to GTA V, at least according to their respective change.org petitions (Doubt the RDR2 one will even get to the goal of 150K, compared to the 750K that the GTA V one got), so that's also something that may play in favor of a delay for the PC version since the hype isn't really here.

I love how even though Fun outright confirmed it for the holidays or the first months of 2020, people still come here and try to act "realist" and suggest they'll triple dip for consoles that are nowhere near.

I am fully aware that Rockstar could change plans and delay it for a triple dip if they wanted it to, but it just seems some people only come to the PC topic to get their kicks out of being contrarians.

I'm pretty hyped about RDR2 on PC but I didn't know there was a petition like I didn't know there was a petition for GTA V on PC. Let's be honest even a petition won't change the mind of Rockstar about a PC release especially if it wasn't meant to be.

Fun also suggested the Casino DLC coming out multiple times as well in May and June, it still came out in late July which means that even he isn't 100% reliable since, as stated by him multiple times, he doesn't work at Rockstar.

Also triple dipping releases seems to be a working strategy for Rockstar, so why should they stop now? They are, at the very least, double dipping it already after all.

Comparing RDR2's PC and potential next-gen situation to GTA V's is daft, really.

GTA V launched one year before the next-gen consoles, RDR2 launched two years before.

GTA V's next gen release benefited greatly from the fact that the PS4/XB1 had no backwards compatibility, the next Xbox and PS will have that.

Very different situations and thus we can't really look at what happened with GTA V and go "they'll do the exact same here".

Again, that entirely depends on if they have plans to release a next gen version or not. We do know that Rockstar releases the PC version of their games last (This is not only about GTA V, they have done this for literally every game they have released in the last decade) and since the releases of next gen isn't really that far, I wouldn't be so optimistic.

Guess we'll see who is right soon enough, since the announcement should be behind the door (They usually announce their releases 4 to 5 months earlier) if RDR2 PC is indeed due for the holidays.

Rockstar has to change... they are the last game developer that makes PC players wait months and even years for PC versions, and they are always so silent about everything...

It's really frustrating, even for me even though I finished the game on PS4 with 92% overall completion, I still want to experience it in better graphics and 60 FPS on PC...

So dissapointed once again, over 9 months and nothing, not a single word...

And that's what worries me most honestly, we would have had an announcement by June if they were actually doing the same thing they did with GTA V (Which, for anyone that doesn't remember, was released on last gen on October 2013 and announced for next gen and PC for June of 2014), which might mean that RDR 2 will actually take longer to release on PC than GTA V did.

Which is a shame... surely Rockstar has the menpower to handle a PC port? PC port of GTA V was pretty nice...
