I think it was inevitable raytracing was going to be featured on the PC version. Gonna have to pick up an RTX card now!

The American Heartland in 21:9 will be breathtaking.

Nothing says that raytracing was implemented in the game. Raymarching and raytracing is not the same thing

Well thats what newer games on PC are using like Control and Cyberpunk 2077 I just assume they will do the same for Red Dead Redemption 2.

@MostWantedMVP Hi, nice avatar. Have you got a full version from this Sadie artwork?

Hey buddy. I don't. I don't think it's been officially released, it's from the collectors box.

Let's hope so ... it's still an absolute shame that the artbook - The Art of Red Dead Redemption 2 - got cancelled behind the scenes. I was sooooo looking forward to it.

I just hope the system requirements aren't crazy like Control. A f*cking 1060 for minimum requirement? Lol.

I see people who played RDR2 on console saying how they cant wait for the PC version, which I don't doubt, but I still haven't even been able to touch it because I don't have a current gen console 😂

GTA5 runs pretty well for me on max and my setup is barely above average, I have faith in Rockstars PC department (which after playing GTA4 I'm surprised I can say that lol)

yeah, I also don't have a console, so I borrowed it. I finished the main story and most of the side missions, so I still have a lot or reasons to play it.

I played Remedys last game Quantum Break on my 1060 and the game was just really badly optimized. So it might be the same case with Control.

The xbox one x version of RDR2 is beautiful and in 4k no less. Only problem is at times you can really notice it's running at 30fps.

Me too. Used to average around 40 fps on max settings. It was really bad.

I've played some of RDR2 on my friend's base PS4. It used to drop to 20 fps on Saint Denis. It was terrible. There are lots of FPS fluctuations too in towns and lush areas.

Hopefully the PC version will be optimized better than this.

The best version in regards to fps so far, is the PRO forced to play the game at 1080p. If one tries the fake 4k, there will be fps drops. But at 1080p RDR2 on the pro plays almost at a perfect 30 fps and that is still pretty sh*tty.

This is why I think that there will be new versions for the next gen consoles that plays the game at 60 fps, PC-version will of course be able to do it depending on hardware. To me as a player, I always choose fps before good visuals as the framerate really do so much for the experience.

It's not about the optimisation, Rockstar tried their best to optimise such a huge, detailed game. The thing is, consoles are limited in general. They all have same gpu, cpu etc. without options to upgrade to better and faster hardware. Maybe they started developing RDR 2 on PC first to not make a same mistake as with RDR 1, and console version got lower performance because it, but who knows, i am just speculating.

They pretty sure did that. Current-gen consoles have architecture similar to PC, so if you would want to port it anyways to PC or already developed a version for it, it's plausible that you develop right on PC.

EDIT:

Thinking back there always was one fact present when ports of GTA were announced for PC. Rockstar always let it be announced by partners or in interaction with them.

For example:

GTA 4 PC was announced joint-venture with Microsoft in Septemer 2008 because of the GfWL-exclusivity

GTA 5 PC was announced by Sony at E3

GTA SA PC though was announced at a T2 financial report conference in August 2006 and given that we have the quarterly report earnings call on Monday..

Just making up theories, I can't wait anymore xD

If you look at Xbox games, they can work on both platform with one purchase.

While everything might not be identical, it is pretty similar in the background.

Just for FM7, it was released together.

I don't know for PS4, but for Xbox/W10 there is Universal Windows Platform, and the Xbox is basically a PC running Windows.

I don't know if that's the reason why it runs better on X1X than on PS4P.

When you create a Windows 10 game, you have the opportunity to reach millions of players worldwide across phone, PC, and Xbox One. With Xbox on Windows, Xbox Live, cross-device multiplayer, an amazing gaming community, and powerful new features like the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) and DirectX 12, Windows 10 games thrill players of all ages and genres. The new Universal Windows Platform (UWP) delivers compatibility for your game across Windows 10 devices with a common API for phone, PC, and Xbox One, along with tools and options to tailor your game to each device experience.

As for RDR2, and believe they had a PC version from day 1. It is anyway developed on PC before eventually being run on the debug hardware.

For flexibility they reported having in the tool, I believe this is to be able to change settings based on the platform while retaining the same code (more or less grass, etc). I think that makes sense, even if PC was out, as you can change anything as you see how it performs (or how many user complain).

Said that, I made RDR 100% yesterday, so RDR2 better come soon (but I won't do 100% on it though, seems too long).

Very plausible.

Think about the LinkedIn-profile of Nan Ma. He stated in his work that RDR2 was meant to be on PC. His profile is legit and he is credited in the RDR 2 credits.

It definitely exists and it could be already in a very complete state, which would also complement with Fun2s' theory that they want to release it for holidays or exactly a year after console release.

It's pretty much accepted that RDR2 was built on PC and ported to the consoles from there.

I've always worked on the idea the launch on PC would be around a year from the console release.

"Later this summer" is again being put in front by Rockstar for the newest Roleplaying update for RDO. Are they planning to release this in September alongside a PC version because it must be really annoying for people playing RDO to be told since 4 months that it is coming "later this summer". For me summer is almost gone, it finishes at the end of August and i don't consider September because school kicks off again so no more vacations.
