In IV the streets in Algonquin are named after minerals, going in alphabetical order from south to north, which is cool. But why does it only go from A to X?? The layout does change above there but there's still additional streets that they could've thrown a Y and Z mineral name. Also there's an area in Dukes with a Tudor Street and streets named after Henry VII's wives - Aragon, Cleves, Seymour, Parr, Howard - but where's Boleyn Street? Ahh yes, half way across the map in Northwood. As a fan of the creative and interesting street names in IV these things annoy me 😛

I really shouldn't be annoyed by it but it really, really bugs me when people spell Niko as "Nico". For god's sake, the game has been out for nearly 12 years and the correct spelling is all over the place, but people still make that mistake.

This applies for any GTA, but when you're having a conversation with another character during a mission and you get to the marker before the conversation is finished so you sit there in your car or whatever waiting for the characters to stop talking before proceeding just incase you miss out on anything vital.

Most annoying thing about this is in certain GTAs where you attempt to do this but it decides that even though you're not in the marker yet you're close enough and it's time for the mission to start (or not as bad but still annoying, a separate "almost there" conversation needs to start) and you miss the conversation. Worst offender for this is V. V is also the worst for including conversations that last much longer than the journey naturally does.

Oh my god this reminded me of the most annoying thing in V! The way if when you're driving having a conversation with another character and hit anything the conversation pauses (sometimes so a character can react to the hit, sometimes just silence), which is already annoying, but then when the conversation resumes again instead of picking up where it left off it starts back at the beginning of the sentence and repeats what was just said. So f*cking annoying. I prefer in IV where you still get the realism of characters reacting if you hit stuff, but only once any conversation is over so it isn't annoying as hell.

Another V annoyance. I love Trevor's character switch scenes but it's like they did them first and ran out of time for the others. A few of Michael's are amusing but why are 90% of them in his house and none of them more than a few blocks away? And then it's like they had NO time left for Franklin. Always just alone in his house doing the bloody ironing or some other mundane activity. It's a shame when Trevor's cover such a wide range of the map and are so well done.

You like your phone? Maybe you'll get a quality one, like mine! Then you will know you have really made it!

In "Cesar Vialpando" at the end after the confrontation when Cesar says to CJ "Nice ride homes" or something to that extent. It's always particularly funny when I haven't bothered to give the car a nice paintjob or it's been smashed up to sh*t. It's just like in GTA IV during "Final Interview" when Francis reminds Niko to wear a suit and I forget this and wear a suit so he says this while I'm wearing a suit and I'm like...

Image result for are you fucking kidding me

In both situations it's not really the games' fault, but more my own stupidity. I can't deny it annoys me when it happens though lol. Same thing happens in GTA V when I encounter Packie. I don't like doing it with Michael or Trevor because it's weird when he says "this kid's alright"

Old post, but I agree.

This is one of those things they can't really get around, but it definitely does break the immersion at times. You just have to basically accept that the cutscenes aren't going to match your actions in free roam because GTA gives you so many tools to just cause mayhem and what have you. I think if I properly replay GTA IV again, I'm going to try and make it as realistic as possible. Maybe even V I'll try, but it'll be a bit harder. As in, I'll try to be as a safe as possible whilst in free roam to make the game feel a bit more immersive.

You can't start the second part (the actual interview) without a suit, if you enter the marker without one it tells you to go and get one. But in the first part (meeting Francis at the police station and setting up the interview by email) Francis says "get yourself a suit" during the cutscene even if you arrived wearing one. I guess they assumed you most likely won't have bought a suit yet at that point in the game and made a slight continuity oversight in having him phrase it that way instead of just saying "make sure you dress smartly/wear a suit for the interview" or whatever.

Wanna play darts in V? Better get ready for a road trip, 'cause the only location for it is the bar near Sandy Shores. Franklin and Lamar going on a man-date up there, particularly early in the game, is some peak immersion.

Yeah, well - they could have implemented darts in a club in Los Santos, or whatever, but.... every interior is closed... Hmm.

Yeah, the interior thing, that really sucks.

I'm not saying every single building needs to be open, but when you have such a small city like Los Santos, it'd be nice for it to feel more alive & immersive. It just feels so dead in the Single Player. The only time you really get new interiors is during missions, and they never opened the Mall like Vice City.

I don't know why Rockstar doesn't value interiors at all, but it makes the map feel really basic and empty without them.

Yeah that annoys me too.

I like darts in GTA IV and GTA V, but it beats me why the only place to play darts in GTA V is all the way out in the desert. Was it that hard to make it available in the city atleast?

The fact you can't explode an entire corpse like in Half-Life, burn it or even explode it using a Molotov cocktail like in Total overdose is strange and a bit annoying. I don't know if I'm the only one but I always feel a bit frustrated when I didn't manage to maim an enemy or turn it to coal.

Paradoxically however the fact the corpses always disappear after a while and even when I'm looking at them never bothered me.

Everyone knows miles and miles of useless underwater scenery and bare desolate mountains is more important than interiors

RDR2 almost gets there, thankfully...

-I don't like how in GTA V the GPS navigator was removed. I thought this was a cool touch in GTA IV and it added to the realism just like in real life with certain sat nav systems you get a "voice" telling you the way to go. It doesn't even have the excuse that it's set before GTA IV. In 2013 sat nav systems still had this.

-In GTA IV that buses are only ever seen driving around in scripted chases, but never in free roam traffic.

You would sometimes see them parked in Star Junction but nothing else iirc.

Yeah, I always loved that in IV. Most of my memories of the game revolved around that tbh lol.

Bump but oh well.

Don’t get me wrong. GTA protagonists are all pretty good characters IMO with lots of characterization. However, I get annoyed with some over the top fans making GTA protagonists out to be tragic heroes of some form. Before anyone says “Name a character in the franchise who has gone through more suffering than a protagonist”, I can actually name quite a few who have gone through more suffering than all GTA protagonists COMBINED!

Giovanni Casa, aka the guy who was butchered by Toni Cipriani on his mom’s orders. The whole neighborhood of people whom Toni Cipriani blew up on the orders of Donald Love. The security guard in the prologue of GTA V whom Trevor killed who was probably just doing his job. That innocent Azerbaijani man named Ferdinand Kerimov who was tortured by Trevor on the orders of Steve Haines. The innocent police officer who was killed by Claude on Ray Machowski’s orders (no, not Leon McAffrey, the other one). That virtuous driver (who was actually an undercover agent) named Tanner who tried to expose the Yakuza only to get killed by Claude. Arthur Stubbs, who was killed at the airport by Johnny Klebitz on the orders of his own nephew just because of his opposing political views. Those innocent lives taken by Luis Lopez in TBOGT on the orders of Rocco Pelosi in the construction site, train, and airport bombings. That virtuous DEA agent who was killed by CJ on the orders of Frank Tenpenny, who was being exposed. And perhaps most of all, the nameless cops who unlike the franchise’s cops with actual names, may not have even been corrupt and were just doing their job only to die at the hands of each GTA protagonist. Tragic heroes? Not really. More like a bunch of moody pieces of sh*t. I still like them but I can’t deny simple facts. And of course, the exact same rule applies to GTA main antagonists and Donald Love, only to a larger extent.

Mostly minor, but it's weird that in GTA 5 the sunset lasts for four hours: 6-10 pm.

Meanwhile we have less night time

When you have escaped a 4-6 wanted stars, and the entire city literally forget about you.

I'd like a toned down version of RDR's bounty system. Like, after you escaped a high stars, then there will be more police patrol around for a while.

SA: If you want to go from "Cesar" to "Cesar & 'stash" at the barber shop you just need to pay $50, but if you want to go from "Afro" to "Afro & 'stash" you must pay an extra $200 for the Afro YOU ALREADY HAVE AND ALREADY PAID FOR IT and THEN lose an additional $50 for the damn mustache you want. R* should've made the haircut prices change depending on what hairstyle you already have and how much work is needed to be done of CJ's melon for the next one. Like if you want to add a mustache to the afro you already have, just pay $50. It just needlessly bloats up the Hairdressing Budget stat.

That last part is what kills the immersion for me in the 3D Universe games. So glad the corpses don't fade away awkwardly in the HD Universe.

On another note, the Burger Shot in Los Santos is literally the same one you can find in Alderney, but slightly retextured. Not even the posters are updated from 2008. Lazy as hell.

EDIT: Another irrational annoyance - I hate how in GTA 4, paramedics will just leave deceased people where they are and just drive off. Would've been cool to have a coroner show up afterwards if the player stayed on scene.

What the hell is up with Tommy's slow-as-fish walking animation when he's unarmed in basic scripted cutscenes of VC? It really annoys the hell out of me. Not to mention the statue-like broken idle animations when holding a chainsaw, rifle or a rocket launcher on the PC version.
