Irrational Annoyances

Vice City criminal

if something were to annoy me, it would be NPCs bad-mouthing me for whatever reason.
I often feel like getting rid of most of the people in Hove Beach at least once whenever I'm playing IV.

The mission attempts and mission completed stat in San Andreas, pointless as you can never achieve perfection. The Green Sabre is an automatic fail, as are the first two Chillead races.

Even entering the gym counts as a fail for some silly reason, even if you complete the training there.

Helicopters explode almost a dozen times when they get destroyed in San Andreas. (Is that a rational or irrational annoyance though?)

I think the gym fail is related possibly to the requirement to learn the fighting moves in all 3 gyms.

I said this plenty of times, but I'll keep doing it.

Tapping the f*cking button to train CJ at gyms. If Rockstar wants to further please the SA fanbase by bringing back the gym they better improve the controls for that.

Some things that annoy me:

-in GTA 5,if one NPC in a vehicle sees you run a red light or drive on a wrong side of the road for a second, all the NPCs you pass by in like the next 30 seconds will honk at you, even those who were a mile away and didn't see nothing

-many members of TLMC in GTA 5 don't wear their jacket/vest with a patch (a tank top with club logo doesn't really count as club colors),even when riding their bikes

-R* for some reason didn't give turfs to Italian mob and Russian mob in GTA SA,and didn't even program those Cobra bikers as a gang despite them being involved in crime (such as carjacking, drug dealing, and in mission T-Bone Mendez also robbery)

-SWAT team in GTA SA uses Micro SMG instead of something like MP5 or full size Uzi,and they hold it sideways like some unprofessional thugs

The decision in GTA IV to tap a button repeatedly to sprint

At least on PC there was a toggle to sprint option in GTA IV. Not sure about controller options.

Its still annoying, read here for the reasons

Fair enough.

Talking of tapping buttons, I found it a minor annoyance how you have to tap W to ride a bicycle faster in San Andreas, holding shift would have been better. I still got used to it.

I also forgot to mention that you had to tap the sprint button in San Andreas to enable super sprint, I'm sure it was similar on controller.

-Having to "feed" CJ.

-The pointlessness of ped interaction in San Andreas.

-CJ and his girlfriends talking to eachother with about as enthusiasm as two robots conversing.

-Forced walking animations during certain missions in GTA V.

-Not being able to draw out weapons inside of certain buildings in GTA V.

-Switching to Trevor in GTA V and being forced into a car chase or the prick being stuck in the middle of no where in just his underwear.

-CJ having the superhuman capacity to master flying jet packs and military jets, but climbing a simple ladder? NO.

-The current gen/PC versions of GTA V bringing back cell phone cheats, but NO way of saving them in the phone like GTA IV/EFLC.

-No rideable taxis in any 3D era GTA. This wasn't such a problem pre-HD era when I didn't know any differently, but since its inclusion in the HD it's quite irritating actually especially if you're looking for a way to quickly get from one side of the map to the other.

-Mission exclusive content. I really wanted to own the JB700 in GTA V with the spikes and front mounted guns. This is more of a general gripe as I've always disliked mission exclusive content in every GTA.

That Jimmy gets to take any money out of Michael's bank account at all during the yoga mission.  (Luckily, being fully invested it was only a $9 hit. 😁)

Oh something I forget to mention. The phantom car doors in the 3D era. It's something that probably shouldn't annoy me, but it does. I like in GTA IV and GTA V I can reverse with doors open and knock over peds with them. In the 3D era it's like the doors transform into transparent entities with no f*cking mass. Arghh.

That despite all the high performance marine equipment available in the various games, no one it seems in the GTA universe has yet invented the anchor.

This applies to GTAIII, Vice City, LCS and VCS.

You know when you carjack someone driving a car? You let them stand up. When NPCs carjack you, they get to flip your ass onto the ground. Exception is low cars, in which the game lets us do the "flipping carjack" animation.

Always bothered me. Don't want to give the NPCs time to take the car back ,especially if it was a rare sluggish car you were looking for.

The companies don't generate money at a regular speed in GTA San Andreas contrary to Vice City. Waiting 1 day only to receive 10% of your normal income and having to stay close to the $ symbol so the company fastly generates an income is boring and nothing in SA justifies it.

The vehicles that change of lane without having turn signals (at least in 3 VC & SA) are also very annoying when I ride a bike in Vice City or drive a car I need to keep unharmed to complete a mission within a time limit.

Bump lol

The things that annoyed me even if I shouldn't(nitpick)

-None of V protagonists have their voicemail when you call them

-Michael doesn't have red background in his phone yet red theme is there

-Franklin doesn't wear MotoX helmet when wearing MotoX outfit

-V protagonists having kicking fetish while fighting

-Supressor blocking flashlight in V

-Lack of idle animation when holding a weapon in V(unlike IV)

-CJ default outfit kinda irritated me because he only wore tanktop, which is why always use the jetpack exploit so I can buy a much better green hood

-Niko's hat or glasses falling when getting bumped without being able to pick them back up

-Inability to bail out of moving vehicles in III

According to some pre-release trailers, his default clothes were intended to be different, ones that're more appropriate for someone who's just leaving the airport, but I reckon the white tanktop was intended to give him a more hood gangster vibe.

Something that's slightly annoying me since I've been playing GTA V again is I've noticed when you buy vehicles and get the confirmation email the other two protagonists will get the same email.

Also...

-Buses in GTA IV never spawn in traffic.

-PBX's Loft remains unchanged when Niko acquires it as in PBX's pictures are still up on the wall.

-Not being able to buy clothes in TBOGT.

-The like/respect meter literally has no point in TLAD or TBOGT since you already have perks unlocked from friends straight away.

-During "Back Alley Brawl" in Vice City if you run over the cook in a car the cutscene will still show Tommy like he's been in a fist fight.

-Not being able to use whatever vehicle I like in street races in San Andreas.

I agree with everything but I find the hat and glasses falling off thing quite amusing. I wear the Russian hat just to see how long it takes before I lose it. And I use it as an excuse to commit wanton violence against whoever knocked it off.

The mission scoring screen in TBOGT. I know I can just skip it but I'd prefer not to see it at all. I'm glad it's hidden in GTA V.

GTA 3

- Not being able to jump out of the vehicle or look around. I get used to it quickly, but feels very inconvenient after the newer games

- That you can't fly the static helicopters

- Mafia and Cartel always shooting at you towards the end of the game

GTA VC

- Pointless beach and only 2 big islands

- That bollard by the underground shopping centre bear the beach that prevented you from driving on the pavement, going down the steps instead

GTA SA

- Lack of rampages, I was pretty upset at first

- Lowriders. So easy to tip them over.

- That Doherty garage was never repaired, despite the Johnson family always talking about doing it

- Hedges that have a collision model

- At first I was very upset that you can't board or drive a tram

- Ryder's accent and attitude towards CJ

- Having to re-definte the controls after every re-install

GTA 4

- The dying sequence (slow motion WASTED screen)

- Flying through windscreen at every bump

- Bizarre and cheap characters' accents

- Boat-like cars

- Lagged soft controls

- Cars can't really drive on grass

- Lack of countryside (though combined with the above it would have sucked!)

- Lack of jetpack - with so many high rise buildings it was a major blow

- Lack of traditional missions: paramedic, police, firefighter

- Total lack of save houses to buy

- Sh*t brown tint to everything half the time

- Niko being a total twat to Michelle after she came out clean

GTA 5

- That you can't buy or change the protagonists' vehicles

- Having to have constant Internet connection to play it

- On-line adverts during the loading

- On-line in it's entirety

- Total lack of save houses to buy

- Lagged soft controls

- Lack of forests, fields and pretty much any landscape except bare hills

- Wild animals

- Too many buttons to remember and play

- On-screen hints and subtitles are too small and don't stay on long enough to read them properly

- Peds calling police on you for standing close to them

- Random spawning locations when switching the protagonists

Also an American blaming Australian for not knowing English. That's something new.

Did you not hear about that American-Australian war on the radio? The yanks whooped the Australian's ass, even though they equipped boomerangs and kangaroos with explosives.

The war is over, but the conflict still lives in people's hearts.

the cops spawning rate in 3d gtas, how they follow you relentlessly, knowing your every move so quickly, even hiding makes no difference as they can go to any extent to get you, behaving irrationally even killing themselves in the process.

Very annoying to see cops showing no signs of slowing down or lower their aggression :(

There're rampages on the PS2 version actually. But they're really a downgrade to those of GTA III's and Vice City's IMO. Not only they are two-player exclusive, but the facts that players are glued to bikes and that the targeted enemies are random pedestrians rather than members of specific gangs make them feel extremely tedious. Not to mention that there is only one rampage quest in each city/county.

They were totally scrapped with the PC version (as well as the free roam two-player minigames), but the territory gang wars somewhat feel like an alternative option (and they gel better with the storyline and the CJ's lifestyle).

You can skip it by the way. You have to wait a few seconds before being able to do that, about the same time as the entire sequence of the 3D era's titles.
