Can dead garage spaces be recovered?

Just for background, in case it helps.

 

I bought the Terrorbyte today, did 5 client jobs then tried to buy the Oppressor MK2 for the trade price, selected the Terrorbyte as storage, purchase failed.

 

Tried again, purchase failed.

 

Decided to try a regular garage instead, so as I'm full I sold a car, tried again and the purchase went through.

 

MK2 was delivered, I went to put it in the Terrorbyte to upgrade it and got a message that the Terrorbyte storage was full confirm to replace vehicle. There was nothing in the Terrorbyte so I confirmed and ended up on an infinite loading blackscreen. Closed app, tried again, same result.

 

Started the game again, had the idea to sell another car, sold one that would be cheap to replace, tried the MK2 again, this time it went in the Terrorbyte without issue.

 

After upgrading I went to repurchase the car I sold but now I have an empty dead space in my nightclub BE garage. It looks empty, but in the list of cars in the garage, instead of there being 9 cars there is also a space named empty.

 

I can't buy over it, can't bring in a car off the street over it, can't bring in a car from another garage to move the dead space.

 

I spent 2 hours waiting for a R* support live chat and they were clueless. 

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah I've been on there and there's this long winded glitch that I was going to try but comments of ending up with more dead spaces as a result have put me off.

 

As I don't currently have an MOC vehicle bay I'm going to get one, the Avenger does everything the MOC does anyway, and force the dead space into my MOC for now.

 

I might try and force it to a bike rack at some point. Looks like it's related to purchasing the Terrorbyte which sucks.

Mine were. I made a temporary fix by selling a car from another garage, purchasing the Oppressor MK2 into that garage then moving it to the Terrorbyte from there.

 

That created a dead space in my nightclub B3 garage, so I swapped my MOC vehicle workshop for the MOC vehicle storage bay and I then replaced the car I sold in from nightclub B3 which transferred the dead space to the MOC.

 

When I can be bothered I'll try and transfer the dead space to a bike rack. But as the Terrorbyte seems to have created this bug hopefully R* fix the problem in the next update.

That’s what I’m hoping. 

 

I’m completely full; even my MOC has a car. I can wait and it’s no problem. I’m definitely worried about opening up a garage space and then having the problems you did.

From what I've read you will be left with a dead space regardless now.

 

After spending millions on the Oppressor MK2 I wasn't going to leave it stock or lose millions selling it, so the lesser evil was to have the dead space hidden in the MOC.

If you're rich you could try rebuying the Vehicle Workshop for the MOC, see if that resets it. But IIRC when you do this you can still call the vehicle that's in the non-existent PV spot so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

From what I now understand the dead space never truly goes away, it goes into invisible storage if you can't force it anywhere else. 

 

If I buy the vehicle workshop again as soon as I sell a car that space will go dead. I've been stealing, storing and blowing up street BMX then trying to buy something into the MOC to force the dead spot to a bike rack. But I've not had any luck yet.

I’m having the same problem too guys...rockstar are as much help as a chocolate teapot.

 

same thing I couldn’t drive into my terrorbyte or buy the oppressor to put straight in...I sold one car and then brought the oppressor but now it’s a dead space.

I've contacted support twice about this, live chat rather than tickets.

 

They cannot fix this. It looks like the Terrorbyte created the dead space. Hopefully this will get fixed in the next DLC, but this is R*, so probably not.

 

The best you can do is move the dead space. My preferred option was the MOC storage as it didn't affect any collections. There are methods to transfer it to a bike rack, but I've been trying with no luck.

 

If I get it to work I'll post an unlisted video link here. But unfortunately it looks like I'll be stuck with an empty MOC indefinitely.

It was close to upsetting for me lol.

 

Luckily I'd never gotten around to converting my MOC to vehicle storage so it cost me a few dollars but I didn't have to sacrifice a car. My backup option was going to be the nightclub service entrance being dead and selling my unused Patriot Stretch, but that would have annoyed me every time I saw the empty space.

I have a theory that maybe while they made the terrorbyte able to store the oppressor mk 2 they didn’t increase overall storage again by 1.

not many people are totally full hence it’s not affecting most people.

I think you could well be spot on with this theory. It's completely plausible and the kind of simple oversight R* tend to make.

Rockstar has elevated my issue, whatever that means. At least they are aware, so hoping it's an easy fix.

I’m still awaiting another response from them but my guess is a lot of people are full numerically so it’s a lot of reports to deal with.

Yeah that's pretty much their "solution", move the dead space somewhere else.

 

I figured that work around out without having to wait 2 hours to be answered on live chat.

 

They genuinely don't know how to fix it.

i sold my Sultan 4 door and rebought  it and sold my chimera and need to rebuy it once this is fixed.

You can add me to the list but, you can add everyone to list at this point because everyone has a dead space now. This is inventory glitch. You can't save data where there's no place to save it. As far as the game is concerned, there is no space there. It's good that support is aware of the issue because the only way this can be fixed is if Rockstar raise the max car owner number in the coding, which would have to be done with a patch. No glitch is going to allow anything to be stored there. I sold a car and then transferred mine to my MOC just to get it out of the way in terms of collections. That's really all that can be done until a patch.
