PSA  - Don't shrug off the Cargobob I/E mission. The Cargobob has been improved since then.

I might be getting my order wrong but the last time I did I/E before this update the Cargobob used to get destroyed by small arms fire and the glass was useless. Seems now that the glass is bulletproof and the Cargobob can take much more fire.

It used to be where you needed to snipe the guys on the boat or your Cargobob was shredded, now you can just fly over and hook it up without any hassle.

The guys on the boat was never a issue.    How does the Cargobob hold up to the Buzzards that chase you all the way back to your warehouse?

In my experience, not good. Last time I attempted this mission, I barely made it back with black smoke billowing out of the engine and the rotors cutting off every once in a while.

For me, at least, it seems that the cargobob hasn't been improved in the slightest.

Once you've hooked the car just gain hight. Keep gaining straight up until the enemy choppers spawn then full tilt towards your warehouse.

The NPC choppers waste so much time trying to reach your altitude that they can't get close enough to shoot you.

The problem with this is that sometimes there's a bug where the cargobob will unhook the car. Is an unusual bug it happens rarely. But as you described that's the best way to deal with the buzzard fly as high as you can before moving on.

I have always just killed the guys on the barge with the homing missiles from the Buzzard, and then worried about how I was going to get a Cargobob after they were dead.  If you keep your distance, the missiles will not damage the car.

Obviously only my own anecdotal experience, but in around 700 source and sales, most of which I've used either a Pegasus Jetsam or PV Jetsam, I've suffered maybe 5 or 6 random unhookings.

Yeah I've made about 100's of sales and it has happens about 4 times iirc. This is why I described it as an unusual rare bug. As far as that go cargobob is the best way to go with I/E with some practice you could even hook moving I/E cars.

Does that still happen? I thought they patched that.

I've had mixed results.

If the barge is up the west coast towards Paleto, bad scene, the Buzzards wrecked my 'bobs every time, my warehouse is at LSIA and the furthest I got was 2/3 up the beach at the channels next to the warehouse, never made it to the warehouse, each time with varying amounts of damage to the car.

If the barge is up the east coast toward Palomino, then you can weave between the hydro towers and later the city buildings to lose or delay the Buzzards.

I usually get the car back unscathed, but the 'bob sometimes gets shot up. Once I made it without hits at all, but that was pretty lucky.

I just switch sessions or quit for the night when this mission comes up. Not worth the time.

I have the same property and yes, this is the worst location to try to hook up that car.   I did it two nights ago without losing any value from the car but my bob was on its last gasp as I dropped the car off.

As you say the other location is an easy route for us with the wind farm and weaving between buildings in the city to distract/destroy the pursuers.

Really for that one and the high speed chase one I just blow the car up and try for something else.  Neither are worth the time and effort and both scenarios are almost guaranteed to cost you.

I have only had the random unhook twice and none recently.

This is not true at all (at least on PC). I've been doing lots of I/E lately and have always used the Cargobob when I can. The smallest amount of gunfire will cause the helicopter to smoke. Not to mention the hook is still very inconsistent in some areas. This is the case for Pegasus, Personal and I/E Cargobobs.

They did but still happens rarely. Like 1/100. It is very rare to happen when it does after the patch.

Nope, still dont wanna do it, and wont do it, I would rather pound my nuts with a rubber mallet then do this I/E source job.

It was removed for a while because one of the updates somehow raised the water levels in the ocean, meaning barges would be slightly sunk into the water.     This would damage the car you was trying to get.

In After Hours it looks like the water levels has been fixes, barges are no longer half sunk, so this mission was re-enabled.

Still it seems to be pretty rare.

Happy Hunter

They should just change that sh*tty smoking mechanic on helicopters. It can't take nearly the amount of damage it's meant to because the moment that smoke comes it just starts losing all its health.

Of course I'm just saying that because I want my Hunter to survive 7 explosive sniper shots like it's meant to - but still. It applies here too.

Now wild helicopters that you haven't called up, randomly spawned ones - those don't go down from engine smoke. So they can take the max amount they're meant to before the engine dies.

Still don't want to do it, takes too long. Too much work. Nowadays if I have to fly over the Vinewood hills to get a car, I don't even bother.

I got this mission again today, the Cargobob pickup was at the NOOSE facility, so at least it was going to be on the good coast.

Well, I figured, for the greater goo, I'd give stealing the 'Bob a chance, so flew up to NOOSE in a Buzzard, popped the guys guarding the 'Bob, dropped into the compound and stole her.

Called Lester, paid $600....for nothing!

My 3 stars stayed at 3 stars....🙄

Anyway, proceeded north to the barge....way north!

Just set down and hooked the Osiris, and fled back to my warehouse.

The dudes on the barge peppered the old 'Bob pretty hard....yet no smoke....hmmm.

Eventually a Buzzard spawned and added to the popo helo that was pot shotting the old thing, I weaved around hydro towers, and later buildings to get rid of the Buzzards, which slowed them down at least.

The single shots are coming from the popo helo, while the barrage of tracers is from the Buzzard.

Made it to the warehouse, still no smoke.

Long story short: the mission Cargobob is bullet proof.

I never took damage, nor did the 'Bob.

Sure couldn't do that with my own 'Bob!

The Osiris didn't fare that well, ended up with about $3500 damage, but about $500 of that came from when I whacked it into a building ledge while swerving around to get rid of the Buzzards.

So, except for the rather long time involved, it is a doable mission, you just have to use the provided helo and eventually evade your wanted level, 'cause it seems Lester is of no help (he'll still take your money, though).

Cargobobs have always had bulletproof front windows (but not side). I'd guess you approached the guys front-on for once, which would also shield your engines from bullets.

I just call a CEO buzzard on the road nearest the barge, fly over and zap everything (the car is invulnerable) then swap back. Fly straight up then forward when NPCs appear.

Oh and protip is always sell/source the X80 first because it's the lightest, and you'll notice the difference. The Z-Type & Roosevelt are death - source the collection variants then sit on them forever/until you have a friend.

ps the dropping glitch is fixed, hasn't happened to me since they did.

I picked up the Cargobob off Fort Zancudo, and got to the Barge farther up north. It took me no more than 5 seconds to hook the Reaper to the Cargobob. As I was gaining altitude to start flying away, the engines starts to belch smoke, then the engines died and cut out on me. Sending the Cargobob and Reaper into the ocean. sh*t happened in no more than 10 seconds.

This is good!

Never thought of that.

The Z I don't mind as much, a little hard to hook at times, but the Valor is just a huge lump!

Well, had another go at this today and I can happily comfirm what others reported before me - this designated Cargobob is buffed drastically. Enough to pick up the car while being shot at and fly all the way back to your warehouse while also being shot at, both from the usual side-passengers on the buzzard aswell as the buzzard canon itself. The latter being able to deal serious damage to the I/E vehicle unfortunately.

Brought the car back with something about 9.000$ damage. Whatever, could've been worse. Like LJT would say - I didn't do well, only weller..

EDIT: And I was even able to lose the wanted level by doing nothing else than flying back... guess christmas came early this year

Cargobob was waiting at Zancudo, owning a hangar there helps a lot on your approach, just like getting there in the CEO Buzzard, as this deals easily with the few guards in place.

Haven't tried the fly-high method yet, wanted to see the real threat while returning the car to the warehouse.

So it's totally doable but I understand anyone, who doensn't want to put up with this.

Yeah, eventually you'll outrun the police helo and lose the wanted level.

I didn't bother gaining altitude, I figured if I was going down, I'll get it over as quick as possible, and the Buzzards can catch up a loaded 'Bob way too easily anyway.

The mission's still too long, it's always far away: fly half the way there in Buzzard, fly other half  in 'Bob, then fly all the way back to the warehouse, which could be farther away than your office start point.

I guess it doesn't always work:

Had to pick up a Tyrus (hard to hook, it's very low, and you have to snag the spoiler from the rear) up past Zancudo, left a couple of Rhinos trying to smoke me.

Got to the barge and took forever to hook, by then the 'bob was smoking pretty bad, then it flipped over into the water.

"Mission over because the Cargobob was destroyed"

96D90F8CE0EABF710B6A558A6A158BA58815A3C3

I give up, not trying that one again, it's worse than the stupid dunebuggy mission (f*cking piece of sh*t!).
