Transfer everything, though to be honest I really only care about my cars.

Start over, the character creation options will be better in gta online 2 anyways.apart from cars, transfering everything would take away from the experience of starting from the ground up in a new city.

I would transfert everything to GTA online 2.0 , but everybody knows that won´t happen ... R* wants us to start from scratch with no money in the bank , shark cards baby ...

Transferring only cosmetical stuff, like the appearence, clothes, name, this is enough.

I don't want to see people with everything they got with modded/glitched money,i hope Rockstar do a better job with GTAO ''2'',i would laugh so hard if there were no money glitches, people who rely on these would actually need to spend money on shark cards or drop the game.

Call me crazy, but if we had to start over and there were no money glitches,i actually think most part of the toxic players would leave, making this community better.

Start over.

GTA Online 2 will be a chance for Rockstar to start over, at this point GTAO is to op to be transferred to a new game.      Mostly likely things will be toned down a lot in GTAO 2, at least at the start, to deliver more of a traditional GTA experience.

Lets face it GTAO 2 isn't having explosive guns, armored vehicles, super weaponized vehicles, batmobiles, flying bikes, mobile ops centers, super tanks, etc right out the gate.     Hell with the problems they caused in GTAO, I'd be surprised if we even got the Lazer or Rhino in GTAO 2.

I think GTAO is going to reset things, return us back to the life of gang bangers and petty crimes.    We'll have some pistols, shotguns, rifles, and snipers.     If there are any OP vehicles, we'll probably have to work our asses off to steal them from a heavily armored military base.

So I don't see a transfer working.

No way will they transfer to 2.0.

It makes no sense from a business standpoint.

Let me keep everything! I've put in 5 years of my gaming life into GTA Online and would hate to lose all that.

At least give everyone a choice on whether they wish to start over afresh or carry it all over. No complaints from anyone then.

De ja vu I've just been in this place before, higher on the street. I've seen a thread with pretty much same poll variants before.

I voted Option A, but i doubt it will happen, probably not even B, we all will have to start over again. Or else new players are always f*cked, imagine being in GTA VI and you can buy everything day one, it would be way to awesome.

And one more thing S H A R K C A R D S !

I just hope some things are in the game right at the start, like the Hunter, Akula, B-11 and other Jets. Don't wanna wait another 2-3 years after release for the Hunter again.

Wouldn't sign that finally, *knowing* R*, they might come up with a "clone shark card edition" in different models allowing you to take your char. only for $ 20, char./weapons/cars for $ 40 and (I doubt that) angel fish shark card for all above + money for $ 300. :D

If such a deal was on the table, I would probably take it, but I don't see this happening.

- Personally, I think any "GTA:O 2" will be a better integrated GTA VI "story mode plus online component", like they could have done in GTA V already. So the building up of the char could be an integral part of the new online experience. They very likely will offer goodies for "returning players", maybe even individual offers reflecting your overall assets "left behind", but that's it

- When GTA:O 2 goes online, GTA:O won't necessarily be taken down entirely. That would be stupid, for not everyone will be able to run the new game for its very likely higher tech requirements (best PC, next gen consoles).

Maybe R* however offers at least a kind of offline-transfer package for old character, basically getting our stuff into basic GTA V, or at least home hosted online, as a last cash grab, before they kill the lights on their GTA:O servers. I would take that deal.

TL;DR: In the sense of "Would I like to keep my character over any end of GTA:O in one form, or another"? Yes, and R* will be pleased to hear that I would consider paying money for that even :)

I would like to see my character transferred to GTA 6. And it's a limited transfer of assets. Transfer of rank is based on the days of game played stat. I've played just over 70 days of game and I should be awarded a rank of 7. So if you're at 100 days you get a starting rank of 10.

As for money, if you have less than $1 Million then all of it transfers. Other wise you only can transfer $1 Million.

I've been thinking of just this thing for transferring characters. Even my character that's on the XBox 360. The online player character in GTA 6 will exist BOTH in Online and in Story Mode. At a certain point in the game you are prompted to create a male and a female to act as support characters for the story characters and they will function as NPCs. If you have both a female and a male then you can transfer both of them. Other wise you must pick the character to transfer and create the other one from scratch. You can do the transfer at any point before the game prompt but you  won't be able to interact with the story characters. In story mode your OPC can interact with NPCs and do side missions and miscellaneous stuff but not any story missions. Only the story characters can do that.

I could see the transfer going like this. My female character is an old friend and coworker of a stripper in Vice City (assuming GTA 6 is in Vice City) from when they both used to work in Texas. My female gets a call from her old friend that there's lucrative job opportunities in Vice Ctiy for somebody with her talents. After starting out as a stripper my female served eight years or so in the Navy with Special Forces. And then got a degree in IT Security with GI assistance. Before heading to Los Santos for her life in crime. Later my character gets a frantic call from Ron or Lester saying that some of the biker gang broke into Trevor's business and stole personal info about a lot of the "private contractors" who do work for him. Including my character's info. And that I should get out of town ASAP. These are all done as cutscenes. I get on the computer and get a hotel room in Vice City but tonight is booked. And I book my flight. I call my mechanic and fill him in on what's going on and will have him take some of my vehicles out of my garage and transport them to Vice City. You can now choose eight of your vehicles to be transferred from your garage of your spawn in house. Instead of eight cars you can choose seven cars and two motorcycles. You can't transfer any trucks are over sized vehicles. And the cars transferred will only transfer with no upgrades or mods. Before the game came out you have been notified to move your favorite cars to your spawn house garage. You will use one of your selected cars to drive to the airport where your mechanic will pick it up from valet parking. The transfer will take a while. The mechanic will message you later that he must wait until things cool down. The delivery of your cars won't happen until you reach rank 40 or 50.

Now back upstairs you can also transfer some of your favorite weapons, the only upgrades would be extened mags and scopes. Yoiu are allowed to pack up six firearms. Consisting of two handguns, two heavy rifles and two carbines or  a carbine and a sub gun like the MP-5. You pack those in a shipping box along with some items from your safe and some ammo. And you throw in your knives.

Then you can transfer some of your favorite clothes as well. For the flight you pull out those suit bags and travel bags that have been sitting in the corner all this time. First you can change to wear your favorite outfit including a jacket. Then you pack your carry on bags with two days of clothing and a second pair of shoes or boots. Your carry on is a backpack and a duffel bag. You then pack your checked bags that are two roller bags with ten days of clothing, which includes another jacket and two more pairs of shoes or boots. A pair of flipflops can be added to your carry on bags. Personal items in your house can be added to your checked bags along with your jewelry. In your heist room you quickly make a backup copy of your computers on a external harddrive and throw it into the checked bags. Along with more paperwork like passports (additional fake ones). You then wipe your computers and take your spare cash of $10,000 and put in your backpack. You then call downstairs for a guy to help you with your baggage. Which is taken down stairs and put into your car that's going to the airport. The box of guns and stuff goes in the trunk. You head back upstairs and pack as much as you can into cardboard boxes, including the rest of your guns and take them down to the garage and put into the mechanic's room. You head back upstairs and you get another frantic call from Ron or Lester telling you that the yhacked the traffic feed of the Coastal Highway and saw the biker vans heading your way. You need to leave soon.

You decide to leave a present for them. And you pull out a box stolen from the bikers that's been filled with explosives. You put in in the middle of your apartment and leave a note on top (on top of the detonator). You call the desk downstairs and tell theme you will be out of town for about six months on a job and to take care of things.

You head down to your garage and get in your car and head out. First stop is to Post Op and you arrange for the box of weapons to be shipped to Vice City. They will hold it for a while until you have a address for them.

Then to Maze Bank and to pull out some money for the trip. Maze doesn't have a branch in Vice City yet so you will have to take  cashier's check with you for no more than $1 Million to setup a new account there. And you get some some prepaid cards as well. About $5,000 worth. You also get a print out of your activity so the airport people won't get suspicious. All the rest of your money (should you have any) will go into a investment account. Which will get seized by the Feds along with the rest of your property and possessions left in San Andreas later on.  Now you head to the airport.

As you approach the airport terminal you get a call from your mechanic and he tells you that his guy with the vehicle transporter has arrived across the street from your house. He told his guy to wait until after any suspicious characters that may arrive have left. You have pulled the fuse to the garage elevator so nobody can enter it unless they have a key to the downstairs entrance.

You park your car at the valet and tip him generously and tell him that a friend will pick up the car soon. You call the mechanic and tell him the valet's name and send him the guy's picture. And that he's already been tipped. The mechanic tells you that his guy just saw two black vans full of bikers show up in front of your building.

You get your checked bags processed and check in for your flight. You go through security with no problems and head to your gate.

Meanwhile at your apartment the bikers have broken in and one of them is reading your message: "If you are reading this it's too late. Good Bye!!". There's a flash.

At the gate you notice a live news report. Somebody just sent in video of your building (actually the guy in the transporter) and your apartment just exploded into a huge fireball. And a flaming screaming lump just landed in front of him (dead biker).

You board your flight and it'd off to Vice City. During the flight you can make any changes or improvements to your character and set any additional new settings.

For a new character all you get is the flight into Vice City like GTA V did.

For all of those out there with your modded money. It all gets confiscated by the Feds. Lucky for you that you booked your flight and hotel using a fake ID and passport. Your bank accounts and property in San Andreas was also done under a different fake ID and passport. And the Feds think that the bikers tried to booby trap your apartment but goofed and blew themselves up.

Almost forgot to mention:

Your checked bags end up in Liberty City. It will take a week for them to show up, if at all.

That's why you put all of your vital documents in the box being shipped later. Like all of your vehicle files so the Feds don't get them.

Knowing R*, they will not do it because it will affect shark card sales. People with nothing on a character are more inclined to buy a shark card vs. someone who has some assets and some leftover money.

It's just too much work for no reward.

GTAO is running way too long for transferring everything from a character into the sequel. That might some people a head-start so their character could retire from moneymaking for several DLCs. And I'm not even considering cheats here.

A 1m-2m reward as returning player + free plastic surgery for my characters if i like to import them should do the trick.

Mods and money glitches kinda ruined any chance of transfer of assets to GTA Online Next IMO.

But then I dont think I want to start GTA O next with hundreds of millions, that would ruin the fun of making money.

tbh, that would be hell or nightmareland. Maybe you missed my sarcasm, I thought my guessed prices were ridiculous enough to show that. f.e.: Next GTA will have a much better char. builder, so no need to take your old over? Right. Greedy R* overs it for the dumb n' lazy™ ones just for the money. Do your thoughts for all other possibilities yourself (no offence ofc). :D

Voted transfer everything. I haven't played for 5 years on end just to go back to zero (I could probably accept ranks being reset though). The whole point of Online was to build our criminal career, which I hope is carried on in the next rendition. I will probably (most likely) tweak my characters slightly with the more advanced character creator (if it even gets more advanced).

1 Rank for every 10 days/240 hours played? Pointless.

I've played for half a year (180+ days) so would be rank 18 on start? I ranked up to higher than that within a few hours on my character, where would be the point in such a small, meaningless head start? It would be an insult to give me a rank only 17 above a new player and offer it up as some kind of loyalty bonus to be honest.

That's why with my transfer I have capped the rank and money. No glitched items can transfer. If the cars have modded colors then they transfer with the unmodded color you often use (such as red or black). No upgrades transfer. Transferring $1 Million to a new bank account is only 2 $10 Shark Cards. Even legit money over $1 Million goes away.

A word about transfers from somebody that works in IT and has been SQL certified. All the OPCs exist as database files associated with our gammertag database file. All of the character data exists as a list of records with IDs, labels and defined values. Like a simple spreadsheet. Every time you see that gold circle spinning you are seeing your character's database file either being read from or written to.  database file, or group of files, can be copied from one database to another. In the case of transferring XBox 360 characters to the XBox One the scheme of the database has been extended to include a lot more records. Allowing you to define more parameters. What is needed is to map the records of the smaller scheme to the larger scheme. Which Rockstar has already done. They say that they can no longer transfer characters from last gen to next gen but that's a lie. They could if they wanted to offer it.

By the way "scheme" ( a single instance of which is a "schema") defines the order of the database file's records and the associated labels, IDs and values. It's essentially formatting a spreadsheet.

To address the recent comments:

Game play days means the game time stat not real time days. For example: playing three hours a day for eight days straight equals one game day of play. 24 hours equals one day.

I've already have capped the money at $1 Million. Plus the smaller amount of cash the character is carrying.

As for rank transfer it could be capped at a maximum level as well.

Your transferred cars and weapons don't show up until you have reached a specified rank in the game higher than your transferred rank.

Lonely-Martin

Fresh start, just like I do with all these games. I wouldn't want to begin a new game with everything already as that would see much of my gaming already done, lol. It'd be far less a game I'd play if I've already got all I have here that's for sure. (The whole 'must have it all now' just isn't me).

I've got most everything now, and I thoroughly loved this journey from rags to riches, I've got 3 accounts, lol. (Though my 1st was ruined by old gen bastards - but each has reached many goals now. My original just past rank 500, one at 870 now, and another at 82. All 3 CMM runners too). I'd be so far ahead of many that sore losers reporting/kicking would begin much earlier, lol. And I wouldn't want others around me being so far ahead either as it'll see balance straight out the window. Something I hope R* address far better next time.

I wouldn't mind taking my character and 1 outfit over, that's only because I really love my Loneliest Robot T-shirt. But with any luck, clothing will be far more in a new GTA, there'll be plenty, lol. And character creating will be much more involved too, I hope anyway. But that's it. (Plus of course, shark cards are here to stay, they can't be attractive if players have this much already, lol. And too many cheats will come over of course - f*ck that again).

Earning the cash/buying cars is a breeze, all replaceable in time and those targets and new challenges  would drive part of my gaming like it did here. That's the easy part. I'd not start a GTA:O in future and not expect it to last a very long time, I'd expect it to be much the same really. After all, if it ain't broken... Well, maybe a bad analogy for GTA:O, lol. Broken as f*ck. But this way made them so much money, be daft to expect them to say 'No, this time we make a gamers game' those days are gone. Grinding or paying is the way they'll keep it, though again, I hope they balance it better, and fix things better/quicker next time too.

The fun/fallout comes when we do move on and a new adventure begins. I'm sure some are really attached, but for me, I expect this all to be lost in the archives one day. Like any videogame, it's just entertainment, lol.

I'm ready though. Can't wait for RDR2 (Though cautious of this games impact). It's all on that game now. If it's this butchered, unbalanced, and this much a grind to push microtransactions, that'll seal their fate and see me just move on to other games/companies. But as much potential there is for them to f*ck things up more, there's so much good too. I'm hopeful. :)

I voted for everything. The way I see gtao 2 being is them letting us cross over between LS and gtaVI's city. You have access to all cosmetic items in all cities. Theres some system for transferring personal vehicles whether you can mechanic them or cargo plane/boat them or just rebuy them over at the new city.

If you want to start from scratch: here you go a 3rd character slot. And a 2nd bank account on each character that is not joint so you dont have to carry the millions over.

For the new city they can dripfeed the businesses into there so it's not all at once or overwhelming. The "new" update properties can exclusively be on the new city.

OK so let's say they do go "GTA Online Next, expand your criminal empire to <new city>".

You get your rank, your character, everything. Would you accept paying out $30,000 fees for your LS biker businesses, property fees for your apartments etc.? You transfer everything, you also transfer your commitments.

This is assuming there's also a way to go back to LS to use said assets.

-----

I still think the GTA:O to GTA:O 2.0 transfer should be some wild and crazy heist failure where you must leave the state, Lester f*cked up somehow and everyone is after you, you must leave everything behind and hide from the ballers, lspd, the lost, tony, malc etc. They all want to kill you. Only Lester and Lazlow (he's everywhere, he will be in GTA next too) are able to help.

Reset your rank. Reset your cash. Possibly take a little cash in your pocket and a vehicle. It would seamlessly integrate things.

I would need something like that to let go of over half a real time year of game play.

Option 2, and I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like that - an updated version of your character's appearance (which you can tweak, if you wish), maybe an initial rank boost and cash bonus (nothing much, obviously - something like $50k-$100k, and start at rank 10 or something), an exclusive t-shirt of whatnot for returning players, and maybe some free unlocks.

In other words, the same kind of returning player bonus stuff as we got going from last-gen to current-gen - albeit not transferring rank/assets over, since that'd destroy balance straight out of the starting gate, and I suspect not all the vehicles in current GTAO will be carried over into the next game (if any - we might well be looking at a complete overhaul of vehicle models/designs for GTA VI).

A final 1-2 player heist/mission-series where it's possible to get some extra money and vehicles into GTA O2.

Finale ends in huge FUBAR, protagonist has to cut all ties to LS and must flee with his PV and a dufflebag with his share into the sunset. If you already have GTA VI installed and ready for online mode, GTA O1 hands over to GTA O2 and you have a seamless  (+/- 30 minutes loading screen) transitionwhere the protagonist arrives in the new city.

Jeez. there are so many possibilities for a cool transition for returning players.

Do I want to support it? As someone with 4000+ hours yes, yes I do.

Do I support it? HELL NO!

With all the cheating trash flooding online and all the malicious and greedy modders that keep providing the tools to ruin the casual player's experience on a daily basis, the existing system is f*cked beyond repair. And the lack of the simplest of measures to counter all that crap is astonishing. Is it that hard to detect unexplainable levels and either fix (if victim) or ban (if cheater)? Is it that hard to get a pro racer dev to lap each circuit and auto-detect anyone who has a circuit time more than 15-20% better than the top possible time? Or at the very least ban people who complete a 7 minute race in 1:34? It all just goes to show that the existing system is incompetent in dealing with any further development with fair and cheater free gameplay in mind. Let V:O live out its days and die a peaceful-ish death, and focus on a solid, cheater-free fresh start.
