Are Catalina's missions optional?

Sadly not.

Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Did you ever wonder...

...why we had to run for shelter when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue sky?

Chase & Evade, A nice set of Required Story Missions, allowing the choice of alternate vehicles. And experiencing different weapons.

A tutorial of sorts for the Explosive Charge, and if you use it the Paint'n'Spray.

I quite enjoyed Catalina's missions. Considering all four are just robberies, they're varied enough that I don't feel stifled. Sadly, they are required for the story to progress but they're quick enough that it isn't such a slog, especially if you look up some of the quicker strategies adopted by speedrunners of the game.

When the game is played many players have trouble using the Quad.

"Local Liquor Store": IF the  player arrives on a a Normal motorcycle, after being forced onto the Quad the Player can get off it and use the Motorcycle instead, for the chases.

"Against All Odds" is a tutorial mission for the  Explosive Charges. (and a future supplier of the charges if you look up the ally ) Again, you can use your own getaway vehicle. You are directed to the Paint'n'Spray but you can use other locations (Bribe Stars for instance) or Time to get rid of the Wanted Stars.

"Small Town Bank".  Introduces the Standard Shotgun and its distructive use. (used again later).  It is a simple get-away drive.

No, only optional story missions are Wang Cars' and Zero's, If I'm not mistaken. Oh, and also the casino Heist missions.

^Indeed the Zero's, Wang Cars and Heist missions are the only optional missions with permanent minimap icons. The driving school is optional as well, but a prerequirement for Wang Cars missions.

Paint'n'Spray

The Pay'n'Spray was introduced in the Los Santos mission 'Drive-By' and also utilized in 'Catalyst' earlier, so that game mechanic should be familiar by Catalina's missions.

Yes, but while the mission indicates it is to be used, OTHER methods can be employed (avoiding it.)

You could use wanted bribes in the "Catalyst" mission instead of the Pay'n'Spray. The wanted stars do behave differently in the countryside though, as multi-star wanted levels do decrease in time as well, while in the city this only applies to the one-star wanted level.

Sorry if this went a bit off-topic, I think OP got his answer.

CATALINA ordered missions are integral to the story.

GTA SA Catalina & CJ did a few rounds in Los Santos .

Catalina's surname is unrevealed.

Who is Catalina ? GTAIII

Catalina and Claude, after leaving San Andreas, begin a nine year journey to Liberty City, going through many American states committing bank robberies, including Texas and New Mexico.

The pair, at some point, return to San Andreas ______________________________________?

The duo, however, continue on their journey to Liberty City, reaching their destination in October 2001.

Claude killed Catalina, presumably though unconfirmed.

What? But once when I didn't play Zero's missions, other missions stopped coming, like Toreno's..:/

No they are not, and actually are quiet fun excluding Local Liquor Store which I found quite hard. I finished Tanker Commander on my first try back in 2006 going dare devil after killing the two chasers. Against all odds and small town bank are two of the most fun missions I ever played. Had it not been for Local Liquor Store, Catalina missions are imo amongst the best, despite the fact I never liked Catalina's character ....

I'd still take Catalina over many of the characters in GTA V. Her rambling and all doesn't even come close to what some of the characters sh*t out through their mouths in that game. Then again, it helps that we know she gets her just deserts in GTA III which is exactly what I like to see in any games I play. Aside from that, the small time robberies were kind of fun to go through IMO and I'd like for them to come back in the next GTA. Something less risky than stealing gold or secret weapons, but not so low risk that it's boring to do like stealing from grocery stores.

Robbing places with Catalina was fun. I dont care what people think. I'm more disappointed with CJ he was so scared of her lol.
