So what is different in original Xbox version?

Mostly people compare PS2 and PC version or PC vs remastered. But I've never seen much comparison to original Xbox version.

I wonder if it's worth playing the original Xbox game.

From the videos I've seen of Xbox gameplay I notice that while most visual effects are removed like on PC - the Xbox version seems to have retained dynamic  lighting from PS2. Other than that it seems exactly like PC version.

Is there something different on Xbox version that isn't on PC? Anything unique to original Xbox version?

Xbox (Original)

Graphics are slightly better.

Controls aren’t that good.

Planes controls needs some time to master.

The Xbox original version of SA are almost exact to the PC version. Both have slightly better graphics compared to the original PS2 version. Draw distance was improved for both of these versions so you wouldn't notice any slow pop in like the PS2. For example if you we're driving very fast you would probably notice that a few buildings, bridges, or trees would take a couple of seconds to load unlike in the Xbox and PC ports. Nothing too bad just a few slow pops in on occasional times. Nothing dramatic. The graphics we're probably the best thing these ports did. There's a big difference when you compare Xbox and PC versions of SA over the Ps2 version. In all of this the PC version has a major bonus becuase the game can be heavily modified to bring back a few things from the PS2 version. Most notably the atmosphere. The most unique I would say from both these versions is the ability to create a custom track playlist of your own music. The other from the Xbox port would be the ability to reply 30 seconds of what you did during gameplay. Can be done on Xbox ports of III and VC aswell.

And unfortunately the biggest draw back in all of this is the atmosphere. The Xbox port is missing some few light detail you would see on PS2. The sun has no affect since R* removed some lighting details as it looks like a pale sun. CJ's body doesn't change color due the sun not functioning correctly the same with the PC version. The most cool and unfortunate about it is that there are also no Orange skies that gave SA a unique atmosphere right when the clock hits at 21:00. It's just a pale yellow sky just like the orginal PC version (Without the use of mods of course) No color greenish blue skies during regular daytime, etc.... So R* changed the atmosphere entirely for these future releases. The one thing about though it is that since the PS2 had a outdated GPU this is how SA was for that system. These videos below explains pretty well.

All in all, The Xbox original port of SA is pretty decent and has some nice features that are unique to it that Ps2 doesn't have. The atmosphere was changed heavily, same with the PC version. But if that doesn't matter much to you then I say go for it. SA is one of the grate classic gta's out there. The ones you have to avoid OP are the sh*tty remasterd ports of SA. Those ports are a f*cking joke. What an awful way R* treated it. That version is just awful in many damn ways. To much to explain here. Would perfer the Xbox original version a millions times over the sh*tty mobile port.

I already have played PS2 and PC versions. I wouldn't say that PC has better graphics. PS2 looks tenfold nicer.

I just wanted to know what is different in original xbox.

And yes - remastered version just doesn't look or feel right.

Simple, the noticeable different is the aspect ratio, car have pipeline specular reflection, save game take so long to load (about 45 secs)

I still have the Original Xbox and a PS2 but only PS2 work, the Xbox had been bricked since 2007 and HDMI cable not even proper connect to the damn thing

Old post but I think it still serves for documentation purposes.

I have recently gotten a modded Xbox and copied San Andreas to the hard drive and this is my experience:

- The HUD and map icons are compressed beyond belief.

- The controls on vehicles and airplanes are dreadful because you have to use the white and black buttons to manuver. The problem is that they sit below the A button (if you have the S type controller) while the triggers serve to accelerate or break so it becomes uncomfortable really quickly. I actually don't know how you consistently do drive bys in this version without twisting your fingers.

- The loading times are dreadful, except when you enter or exit interiors.

- Map struggles to load fast, worse than PS2. I can't imagine how worse it is when it's loading from the disc.

- Dance minigame is a lot easier. On PS2, I rarely ever get perfect presses but on Xbox I got them constantly, easily got 4300 points on my first try. I don't know if it's because the frame rate is smoother or something else.

- When there is too much going on, you see the framerate tank. PS2 version was less noticable since it runs slower to begin with.

- Has way better widescreen support than PC or PS2.

- Still has the PS2 co-op minigame unlike the PC port.

- The graphical effects from the PS2 are like... half implemented. There is some orange hue, more than PC but way less than PS2 still.

- Has the PC road textures and extra props.

Other than that, it's mostly the same. Normally, most games from that era are better on Xbox but San Andreas is this rare exception. I think I understand why this version is so unpopular now.

CynicalMexican

I remember getting my hands on the XBOX GTA SA and ripping it on my PC and boy was I disappointed that it didn't have 512 assets that GTA 3 on that console had.

POSITIVE :-

Actually xbox version has shiny graphics on every character , pedestrians.

The reflections from pc are improved .

NEGATIVE :-

many people report that the graphics sometimes become transparent and broken .

They also report that the game always crashes or some reason

Sometimes audio from cutscenes vanishes.

INFACT XBOX VERSION OF GTA SA IS TRASH
