I remember back in the early days - and even in the mid-life - of GTAO, the Cargobob was a devastatingly efficient vehicle and tool.

From picking up Rhino Tanks and unaware players in their cars, to using it to deliver a vehicle during missions.

It was the go-to flyer to get jobs done and done well.

But then, something happened. They changed it.

It seemed like a minor affliction, at first, in which you could no longer pick up certain vehicles like Armored Cars or Tanks.
Strange as it was, the Cargobob was still effective in most other ways, so the change was noticed, but not concerning.

Until more recently, like within the past year or two.

When it changed again.

Since the release of the Jetsam, it seems to me the Cargobobs are a vehicle of little value anymore.
Much like the Mobile  Operations Center, there's very little reason to call it in and it's usually more effort to get than it's worth.

For me, I've found only one use these days for the Cargobobs, and that is to continue delivering Romero Hearses in full lobbies.
It's a fun, generous hobby I like to do and yes, sometimes people shoot me down, but I understand and harbor no ill will.

TL;DR
So, I'd like to know the experience other people are having with these 'Bobs and what uses you continue to use them for?
How do they work in Missions, Heists, and Jobs nowadays, for you?
Are there any updated spawn points for them or are they the same-olds?
Can other people ride with you in them?
I don't know, because frankly, I just don't use them anymore (with the exception of last night when it kept failing miserably – every time!)

Mods, feel free to drop this in the Vehicles thread, as I wasn't quite sure how to. Thx!

Lonely-Martin

Sometimes use. I don't do as much I/E now and I drive a lot of them too. Plus freemode is full of many fun toys now too.

Always to transport vehicles. I/E aside of course. Too much fun back in the day, lol.

I/E, Gunrunning resupplies, missions, and freemode highjinks.

Back before stunt races, a 'bob was ideal with a buddy to get the 5 spins and fills awards, lol. And to hide people's cars on rooftops or drop them in police yards was always cute fun. :)

I use mine occasionally, either for transporting I/E cars or during the Ballistic Equipment Resupply mission.

Sometimes I get some fun idea, like dropping a Rhino from Zencudo unto the streets of Los Santons.

But mostly, it gathers dust in my Hangar.

We did so much of this back when CEO first became a thing.  If someone was trying to get in and out of the roof of his office we would just pile up cars from the street on top of the building.  Dumping random cars on yachts, picking up AFK players and leaving them someplace totally random.

In fact just last week a friend of mine went AFK to go to the store and I put his PV up on top of a roof just to mess with him.

Still use mine every time I play for IE, I swear by it being a must-have for that business.  It saves time and money.  Having one in the hanger gives you some new spawn points for that version, otherwise it's more or less the same-old.

Bought one for CEO Warehouses, soon realised... I wasted my money.

I/E rolls around and suddenly it's worth every penny. 63mil in sales and counting.

I don't own one.
I was using it just to transport tanks during Gunrunning resupply and a couple of times during that i/e mission, where car is located on the water platform.

I use it a lot for I/E car sales. I have been in the habit of driving the cars to their destinations lately just for something different, but for solo lobby sales it's handy for avoiding the enemy spawns as long as you stay high enough so they can't shoot you.

I have used it for I/E source missions as well as sales, but I prefer to just drive the car on source missions, unless I get the one up in Paleto Bay.

I have the cheapest car warehouse over by El Burro which has been a good location so far, there's a pegasus spawn at the hospital just down the street, and a PV spawn in the ditch/river part around the corner for my custom 'bob.

The PV 'bob doesn't seem to have the problem that the Pegasus one has, where it likes to blow up on you as soon as you get away from it. At least you know your PV 'bob will still be waiting outside for you when you're ready to sell, unlike the Pegasus one that sometimes just decides it doesn't want to help you :(

Back in the old-gen days I enjoyed picking up tanks out of Fort Z and dropping them in areas where people were fighting, that was always a good laugh.

I/E always, and often for some random fun.

Note: I'd always had the Marine version, couldn't figure why the Jetsam would be worth more 'til someone said it has a longer cable.

Well, it does and it doesn't.

The mission supplied version of the Jetsam does (just used one for a club sell job).

The Pegasus version (the one you actually get to use for I/E) does not have a longer cable than the Marine version.

It is more powerful and the rotors are quieter, which is nice to be able to hear the radio after the overly noisy Marine helo.

The extra power is handy when you get helos chasing you during sourcing missions.

BOOGIEMAN219

I drive I/E cars, never once used a bob except for a new mission where you pick a car up at sea while people shoot at you and buzzards chase you. Also believe I once used a bob to sell hanger stuff because I had too.

Im a free roam player and from my little experience the bob doesn't stay in the air long, I voted other because solo lobby was not on the list.

Well, it's better than walking, right? I've used the cargobob for many a fun endeavor, but so rarely in a really useful way. I drive I/E cars because I like driving, and just about entirely abandoned the hangar once I got the trade prices. Nowadays, I've used the cargobob for more efficient vehicle delivery in the pursuit of garage organization or storing. It occasionally goes GYRRUHHKKK while picking vehicles up and explodes, but it's still a rare experience. In the end, my preferred roof hopper is another neglected helicopter, the Valkyrie, but the cargobob, with its weird mismatched design, is still useful when it needs to be.

White Shark

It is mad that you can't use these things to pick up delivery vehicles etc.  You've invested in one, so why can't it be utilised for it's purpose?  Makes no sense and takes the fun out of buying vehicles like this.

Same with that Wastelander vehicle.  You could be able to drive a car onto the back, have it clamped in place and use it to deliver the car.  But as it is at the moment, it is an utterly useless vehicle.

I love vehicles with different functionality.  Let us use them for their purpose!

Still very usefull for I/E stealing/sales, but if they had for instance put in the option that you could exchange the bomb bay on the Avenger for a cable and hook...ya it would have gone out of style very fast, but luckily for the Cargobob they never thought of doing that.

I use mine exclusively for I\E. It cuts mission times in half & minimizes the damage to the cars.

I pick up the Jetsam one from my assistant on my way out of office & if it self destructs later, I order my personal one to complete the sale (I have the Elyisan island warehouse, I have a spwan location within the "safe zone").

I own both, but I prefer the J Bob over the Marine one because its a lot quieter.

I don't use the Bob for anything else.

Apart from I/E, Cargobob can be called in Bogdan finale and can be used to drop the Stromberg directly near the submarine to save time (Elite challenge!)

I use mine a whole lot, both for fun and utility.

After ages of driving I/E cars I decided to save up for a bob, went all in to get the Jetsam since it's quieter.

Best. Decision. Ever.

Made back the money the very next day. I'm a skilled pilot (if I say so myself) and can easily speed through I/E undamaged.

With Smuggler's Run came the glitch where storing a Jetsam in your Hangar turned it into a Marine Cargobob. Since then I've had both.

I still use the Bobs for I/E. I love doing airfreight (can't use your own bob for that). I used to use it for Gunrunning resupplies before I upgraded and started buying supplies.

But the real fun is in creativity!

What we sometimes do is put on scuba suits, open the cargo ramp, hook up a submarine and start Salvage. First drop the Kraken, then watch the divers dive off the cargo ramp one by one. It really is a sight to behold.

Another sneaky use is Ballistic Equipment transport. Put on the Juggernaut suit, enter via cargo ramp, have a friend fly you to the Business Battle and roll up on your enemies IN STYLE.

Also useful for rescue ops. Rescue people off rooftops and sinking boats via cargo ramp, Call of Duty 4 style.

Tl;dl Cargobob is legend

Also, fw3, there's a small typo in the topic's name. Don't want to be a grammar nazi, just sayn'.

I/E was the first real money maker I had in GTAO and without the bob I would not have had the success I have now. Period.

It made sourcing and selling in split servers a LOT more efficient and profitable.

It's the 3rd vehicle in my "new character" development, after a Kuruma and Buzzard.

I know this should be in the things you didn't know thread, but WTF are you talking about !!!! ???

Seriously, how do you open the ramp and can you leave it open and drive cars into it?

It's not wide enough for a car.

I'd like to know how to get the ramp open too!

Anyway, screeny proof of cable length:

Pegasus Jetsam Cargobob:

Nightclub sell mission Cargobob:

CD67849834310426DC842E9C500CCF8FEA755341

Big difference!

I even found it a little awkward the first time hooking the Speedo since the cable was so long.

I actually think the Jetsam version is shorter than the marine version. I have one of each and the Jetsam is harder to see the hook, using the same view pitch angle settings.

It was added in Doomsday Heist I think. Basically you put the desired vehicle in your Hangar (Cargobob, Titan, Bombushka) and when you call it in, in the Personal Vehicle menu where you usually control car doors it now controls cargo ramps and doors

You can only walk into the cargobob, an invisible wall protects it from vehicles. Works with titan and bombushka though, but its glitchy

I've noticed that while flying the hook floats closer to the belly of the 'bob, thought it might be going faster?

They seem to work about the same, anyway.

Could be, I'll look next time. I did notice the two have different noses. Wonder if there's a side-by-side breakdown of the differences.  A longer hook would be nice to have.

I tried to park the mission 'bob in my hangar, but no luck of course!

Cackling Jack

Been using the cargo bob a bit lately with I/E. Sometimes ill get into a session and try and pick up random players in vehicles off radar and drop em in the ocean. Most of the time i get blown up by a meme vehicle. Good times.

Can't use the hook in passive?

That would be too much fun!

Owning my own Cargobob is still pretty high up on the list (yes after all this time I still don't have my own one but oh well)

Use it during missions where it involves me to pick up vans during bunker resupply missions.

Sometimes use it during Import / Export missions depending what the mission is and how far I am away from a potential cargobob.

You can't drop the hook while in passive but if you have it down before you turn passive on you can hook stuff.

I can only speak from my experience on the PC version of GTA5/O. I don't remember it being as hard as it has been during the last week or so since I started using the bob again to hook stuff. In some cases I spend more time dragging the hook over cars rooves than I do carrying them to their destination across the map. When the game first released it was simple, get the hook touching for a second or so and go for it. I've seen some people saying it's easier to go side-side, others say front-back or back-front. It would be convenient to have a message or icon that lets us know if we can't pick something up so we don't waste time trying. I wanted to see if I could pick a Blimp up. No idea if that's even possible.

I have the Jetsam one painted black only because at the time I was looking to get one, the only information I could find said the Jetsam one was quieter (which it is). Are there any other differences such as capacity people know of?

Any tricks I can try? Will smashing windows make it easier to hook? Should I be pressing a button aside from drop hook to engage the hook onto the vehicle?
