Paisan™ 584 Posted August 4, 2018 I really like the Trails effect, but I cannot stand the motion blur that comes with it. Is there a mod or something that allows you to keep Trails on without the crappy blur?
DEALUX 2,167 Posted August 5, 2018 I like it honestly. It's how I originally played the game back in the day. It adds a certain element to the atmosphere of the game but it also significantly increases input lag (slow post processing).
Filip 406 Posted August 7, 2018 It is the classic element of GTA3. There is no GTA3 without trails. It is the effect that really contributed to the unique atmosphere we can enjoy in the game. It should be always turned on. (in my opinion) PlayStation 2 lighting effects + trails = the most unique atmosphere you could ever see in videogames.
guard3 1,994 Posted August 7, 2018 Doesn't change the fact that the blur implementation is horrible
Filip 406 Posted August 7, 2018 (edited) Guys, I do not agree at all and I do not understand, what is horrible? It was done like that on purpose. Classic, late 90s effect that can be seen in some drum and bass music videos. Trails is the "imprint" style of blur. It is not modern, smudgy blur. It is not blur in fact. Trails are trails and there is no blur. Otherwise it would be called "BLUR". Edited August 7, 2018 by Filip image
Mr. Jago 2,392 Posted August 7, 2018 (edited) The problem with trails is that they don't scale on PC so if you're playing on high resolutions the effect is barely noticeable, might as well use the Sharptrails mod at that point. And I think the main reason PS2 had them anyway was to make dips in framerate easier on the eyes. Edited August 7, 2018 by Mr. Jago
stef_92 794 Posted August 8, 2018 (edited) Yes, trails and blur are two different things. I never liked the trails effect even back in the day when the game was still new. I always made sure to turn it off. I don't like both the trails and the color tint that comes with the effect. The fact that trails had never been re-introduced in anyof the following games it makes me think that many people think like I do. I guess R* themselves realized the "mistake". spaceeinstein 1,739 Posted August 9, 2018 Trails was reintroduced in Vice City, with the exception of the PC version.
Paisan™ 584 Posted August 9, 2018 (edited) I tried sharptrails, unfortunately it doesn't work with the widescreen fix. So it's a pass. Any other recommendations? Edited August 9, 2018 by ClaudeIzABadAzz
Inadequate 3,272 Posted August 9, 2018 Then, you are installing it wrong. Because it works with Widescreen Fix.

Widescreen fix comes with ASI loader, you just need to configure it.
Paisan™ 584 Posted August 10, 2018 Ok so where can I find the ASI Loader, and how do I configure it?
spaceeinstein 1,739 Posted August 15, 2018 (edited) You don't need to configure the ASI loader. Just rename sharptrails.dll to sharptrails.asi and pop that into the scripts folder to get the mod to work with the Widescreen Fix.
